        The Modularity of Morphosyntax: Mentally Retarded Children’s Production of Conjugated Predicates in Korean

        In this paper, we investigate whether mentally retarded (=MR) Korean children’s production of conjugated predicates follows the same generalization that has been reported for normal children’s language performance. For this, we elicited narratives from 15 MR children, and analyzed their production of conjugated predicates. We cross-classified the conjugation patterns in terms of four categorical variables: morphological class, (morpho-)syntactic conjugation, semantic class, and age. Results from the log-linear regression analysis show that MR children’s use of predicate conjugation is constrained by the same generalization that determines the distribution of normal children’s conjugation patterns. That is, both MR and normal children’s production of conjugated predicates is nicely predicted by the interaction between the morphological and semantic classes of each predicate, and by the main effect of conjugation type. The overall finding supports the modularity view of language in terms of morphosyntax; i.e. the language capacity is dissociated from the general cognition.

      • Suppressive effects of three diketopiperzines from marine-derived bacteria on TGFBIp-mediated septic responese in human endothelial cells and mice

        Diketopiperazine is a naturally occurring cyclic dipeptide found from diverse living organisma. The com-pounds in this structure class have been known with a broad spectrum of bioactivities including anti-inflamma-tory activities. Transforming growth factor β-induced protein (TGFBIp) is an extracellular matrix protein whose expression in several cell types is greatly increased by TGB- β. TGFBIp is released by human umbilical vein endothelica cells and functions as a mediator of experi-mental sepsis. Here, three (1-3) of diketopiperazines were isolated from two strains of marine-derived bacteria and we hypothesized that 1-3 could reduce TGFBIp-mediated severe inflammatory responses in human endothelial cells and mice. Here, we investigated the anti-septic effects and underlying mechanisms of 1-3 effectively inhibited lipopolysac-charide-induced release of TGFBIp and suppressed TGFBIp-mediated septic responses. In addition, 1-3 sup-pressed cecal ligation and puncture (CLP)-induced sepsis lethality and pulmonary injury. In conclusion, 1-3 sup-pressed TGFBIp-mediated and CLP-induced septic response. Therefore, 1-3 could be a potential therapeutic agent for treatment of various severe vascular inflamma-tory diseases inhibition of the TGFBIp signaling pathway.

      • 육우 햄에 대한 소비자 선호 분석

        The purpose of this study is to estimate the implicit prices and consumers’ preference by attributes on Korean beef cattle ham using choice experiments. Main attributes are the country of origin, non-antibiotic certification, HACCP certification, addition of Korean agricultural products and use of natural colors. The implicit prices of each attribute and level for country of origin are estimated as KRW 919.0 for Korean pork, KRW 2,173. for imported beef and KRW 5,232.9 for Korean cattle beef. The other estimated implicit prices are KRW1,762.9 for non-antibiotic certification, KRW 577.5 for HACCP certification, KRW 57.9 for addition of Korean agricultural products and finally, KRW 572.9 for use of natural colors. This study is expected to contribute to the decision-making process of Korean beef cattle farmers by providing useful quantitative information on attributes and price that are related to consumers’ preference on Korean beef cattle ham.

        One of the most used soft ground Improvement Technique, especially such as sand drain are to considered on dredging-rec;aimed land. This study has been analyzed consolidation characteristics into comparuson between a field measurement result and theoretical calculation on dredging-reclaimed land. The Analysis results are follow: ① It was found that Been & Sills theory's Application is good agreement with self-weight consolidation problems. ② A hyperbola method of all calculation method for forecast consolidation settlement quantity gets almost actual survey. ③ It was Found that a sand drain method with preloading is effectiveness on dreaging-reclaimed land improvement.

      • 치주질환 심도에 따른 치아동요도와 교합력의 상관관계에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the change of tooth mobility and bite force according to periodontal disease severity. Tooth mobility and biting force due to change of viscoelastic property of periodontium were influenced by inflammation of periodontal tissue. 30 patients participated in this study, the periodontal disease severity is evaluated with SBI and attachment loss. SBI and attachment loss were examined by periodontal probe. Tooth mobility was tested two times to each tooth using periotest (Siemens Co, Germany) and bite force was evaluated with MPM-3000 (Nihon Kohden Co, Japan Statistical analysis was applied to correlation (r2) and regression analysis. The obtained results were as follows 1. As the attachment loss increased, tooth mobility increased with significance, and they had highly positive correlation (r-2=0.68) on entire dentition. 2. As the SBI increased, tooth mobility increased with significance, and they had positive correlation (r2=0.37) on entire dentition. 3. As the attachment loss increased, bite force decreased with significance, and they had highly negative correlation (r2=0.42) on maxillary anterior dentition but low negative correlation (r2=0.20) on the other portion of dentition. 4. As the SBI increased, bite force decreased with significance, and they had highly negative correlation (r-2=0.31) on maxillary anterior dentition but low negative correlation (rz=0.16) on the other portion of dentition. 5. As tooth mobility increased, bite force decreased with significance, and they had highly negative correlation (r2=0.32) on maxillary anterior dentition but low negative correlation (r2=0.16) on the other portion of dentition.

        The purpose of this study is to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of pooling used by agricultural cooperatives and create pooling strategies. Pooling is a way to share risk, expenses, and revenue with other producers by marketing agricultural products together. The advantages of pooling in agricultural marketing can be achieved through the economies of scale and scope. Agricultural marketing cooperatives should try to meet the changing consumer demands for environment-friendly organic products, branded agricultural products, small packaged products and ready-to-eat processed foods. Also, agricultural marketing cooperatives should pay close attention to eliminate the moral hazard problem and to prevent low quality products from being marketed in the process of pooling.

        The flat panel lamp is used as back light. It is perceived the best type for the wide size LCD of back light system. However, the flat panel lamp has high value of heat. So it need to improve efficiency. Therefore, more researches are requested for the back light of the flat panel lamp. In this paper, the properties of spectrum is investigated according to change in frequency from 30kHz to 60kHz using power supplies voltage with changing from 500V to 700V. As a result, main spectrum peak of plasma showed in 450[nm], 630[nm], 750[nm] and spectrum peak of 750nm is the highest. Discharge of the flat lamp lighting source research are requested very much. For improving brightness, life time, efficiency of flat lamp and plasma diagnosis of the flat lamp lighting source to understand property of lighting source is very important. When a distance of discharge electrode is 5.5mm and width is 16.5mm, we measured electron temperature and electron density measured with single Langmuir probe in flat lamp. We tested the discharge from 100 Torr to 300 Torr pressure. The pulse type was rectangular with frequency 20kHz and duty ratio was 20%.

        가시오갈피의 생리·생태적 특성 (Ⅰ) : 산지별 순광합성, 기공증산, 기공전도도 Net Photosynthetic Rates, Stomatal Transpirations, Stomatal Conductances of Leaves

        이 연구는 가시오갈피 엽의 생리적 특성을 밝히고자 광합성, 기공증산, 기공전도도의 생리반응을 측정한 것으로 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 광보상점은 양엽이 약 30 μ mol m^(-2) s^(-1), 음엽이 약 15 μ mol m^(-2) s^(-1) 이었다. 2. 광포화점은 양엽이 약 1,000 μ mol m^(-2) s^(-1), 음엽이 약 300 μ mol m^(-2) s^(-1) 이었다. 3. 우리나라 및 중국산 가시오갈피 상엽의 순광합성속도는 약 8.0-8.8 μ mol m^(-2) s^(-1) 로 산지간에 유의차가 인정되지 않았다. 제주산 섬가시오갈피 상엽은 약 6.9 μ mol m^(-2) s^(-1) 로 다소 낮았다. 4. 모든 산지에서 중위엽의 순광합성속도는 상엽의 40-65%, 하위엽은 상엽의 30% 정도이었다. 그러나 섬가시오갈피 하엽은 상엽의 약 71%로 다소 높았다. 5. 상엽의 기공증산속도는 1.1-1.4 mmol H₂O m^(-2) s^(-1), 중위엽은 0.7-1.0 mmol H₂O m^(-2) s^(-1), 하위엽은 0.5-0.6 mmol H₂O m^(-2) s^(-1)로 산지별로 유의차가 없었다. 6. 기공전도도는 상엽이 약 70-90 mmol H₂O m^(-2) s^(-1)로 산지별 유의차가 인정되지 않았다. 그러나 제주 섬가시오갈피 상엽은 약 380 mmol H₂O m^(-2) s^(-1)로 타산지보다 현저히 높았다. This study was made on the physiological reactions of photosynthesis, stomatal transpiration, stomatal conductance of Acanthopanax senticosus of leaves. The resuits obtained are as follows : 1. The light compensation points were approximately 30μ㏖ m^(-2)s^(-1) in sun leaves and 15μ㏖ m^(-2)s^(-1) in shade leaves. 2. The light, saturation points were approximately 1,000μ㏖ m^(-2)s^(-1) in sun leaves and 300μ㏖ m^(-2)s^(-1) in shade leaves. 3. There was no significant between various mountains distributed, net photosynthetic rates were approximately 8.0 to 8.8μ㏖ m^(-2)s^(-1) in upper leaves. However, net photosynthetic rate in upper leaves of Acanthopanax koreanum in Jeju island was slightly low about 6.9μ㏖ m^(-2)s^(-1). 4. Net photosynthetic rate in middle leaves of all mountains was ranged from 40% to 65% of upper leaves, and that in lower leaves was approximately 30% of upper leaves. But, the net photosynthesis in lower leaves of Acanthopanax koreanum in Jeju island was slightly high about 71% of upper leaves. 5. There was no significant between various mountains distributed, stomatal transpirations were ranged from 1.1 to 1.4 mmol H₂Om^(-2)s^(-1) in upper leaves, 0.7 to 1.0 mmol H₂O m^(-2)s^(-1) in middle leaves, and 0.5 to 0.6 mmol H₂0m^(-2)s^(-1) in lower leaves, respectively. 6. There was no significant between various mountains distributed, the stomatal conductance in upper leaves was ranged from 70 to 90 mmol H₂O m^(-2)s^(-1) . However, stomatal conductance in upper leaves of Acanthopanax koreanum in Jeju island was approximately 380 mmol H₂O m^(-2)s^(-1), its remarkedly higher than any other mountain.
