        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

      • 동종 골수이식 후 만성 이식편대숙주질환과 동반된 그레이브스병

        저자들은 중증 재생불량성빈혈로 동종 골수이식 및 추가적인 동종 말초혈액 조혈모세포이식을 시행 받은 후 만성 이식편대숙주질환이 발생하여 면역억제제로 조절되었으나 자가면역성 갑상선기능항진증이 병발한 1예를 경험하였기에 이를 보고하는 바이다. Chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), which is a frequent complication following bone marrow transplantation (BMT), is characterized by fibrosis of the skin, liver, lungs, and gastrointestinal tract, immunodeficiency, and the production of autoantibodies. Endocrine dysfunction, in particular thyroid disease, has been described following BMT, but this has previously meant hypothyroidism secondary to total body irradiation or transfer of autoimmune hyperthyroidism from a donor with Graves’ disease rather than in association with chronic GVHD. We report a case of a 26-year-old man who developed Graves’ disease eight years after BMT and who had remission of chronic GVHD. He received an allogeneic BMT for severe aplastic anemia. Eighteen months after BMT, diarrhea and chronic GVHD developed and were treated with cyclosporine and steroid. Four years after ceasing the cyclosporine, the patient developed weight loss, palpitations, fever, and anterior neck swelling, and was diagnosed with Graves’ disease based on typical thyroid function tests. The signs and symptoms in the patient improved with propylthiouracil and propranolol.

        韓國産 玄蔘科 植物에 關한 本草學的 硏究

        For the purpose of developing Korean Herbalogy with the plants of Scrophulariaceae which grow wild and is planted in Korea, the these and writings on herbalogy, from literature of successive generations, have been thoroughly investigative and the results obtained were as follows: 1. There were totaled to 24 genera and 85 species in Korea and among them medicinal plants are 17 genera, 45 species, some 53% in total but, the number of species may be added because of the similiar plants. 2. According to the oriental names which can be used for medical purpose, the medicinal plants belonging to the Scophulariaceae family were classified as Herba 19, Radix 4, Foilum 3, Flos, Rhizoma, Fructus 2 each. Thus it was noticed that Herba was the main kind. 3. According to sum of 85 species in Scrophulariaceae family, they were classified into Veronica genera 22, Pedicularis genera 14, Melampyrum genera 7, Euphrasia genera 6, Scrophularia genera 5, Limnophila genera, Lindernia genera, Mazus genera, Veronicastrum genera 3 each. Thus it was noticed that Veronica genera was the main kind, some 25% in total. 4. According to the number of species of the origin plants about each chinese materia medicals, they were classified into RADIX SCROPHULARIAE 5, HERBA VERONICAE, HERBA PEDICULARIS 4 each. Ths the origin plants was not complexed reletively. 5. According to nature and flavour of medicinal plants, they were classified into warmth, heat; 10 each, cold,cold; 13 each, balance 2. Ths it was noticed that cold and cool is the main in nature and flavour of medicinal plans. 6. According to the Properties and Principal curtive action, they were classified into Drugs for removing toxic heat with febrifugal and detoxicant diaphoretics 7, to remove evil heat and resolve dampness 6, tonify the blood 3, to promote or activate blood circulation by removing blood stasis, to dispel pathogenic heat from blood with drugs cold in property, to stop bleeding drugs 2 each. Thus it was noticed that Febrifugal and detoxicant drugs was the main kind. 7. Comparing to whole medicinal plants 45 kinds, toxic drug was 1 kind, 2% of the whole. Thus toxic drugs were rare. From this result, it was revealed that the plants for medical purpose in Scrophulariaceae was 53% of the whole, in which Herba was mostly abundunt and toxic plants was so rare that it will be used for clinical treatments more easily. It is considered that many experiements and clinical approaches must be continued to use Scrophulariaceae plants widely.

        A Decision Model for Advertising Expense: From the Perspective of the Blockholder's Private Benefits

        This paper examines how the size of private benefits of large owners, measured using block premium, affects changes in advertising expense of the company. If large owners enjoy private benefits through engaging in pet projects, it will result in increased advertising expense. On a sample of 130 firms whose blocks of shares are traded in the U.S., we show that the magnitude of private benefits is not associated with changes in advertising expense.

        The Purpose of this study is to classify the Risk Factors in Construction Projects. The Classified Risk Factors are used for Building a specific Feasibility Analysis Models. Generally, The Success of Construction Projects depends on how to Plan, Prepare and Analysis the whole project in the beginning Phase. One of Characteristics in Construction Projects are Uncertainties and Risks which are managed and analyzed in a Pre-designed phase. Also The Feasibility Analysis anticipates the whole incomes and outlays of Projects in the beginning phase. In these reasons, The Feasibility Analysis Modeling is the important process in Construction Projects. In this paper, Re-arrange the entire Construction-Risk Factors for Building an realistic and reasonable Feasibility Analysis Model in future studies.

      • 韓國産 天南星科 植物에 關한 本草學的 硏究

        For the purpose of developing Korean Herbalogy with the plants of Araceae which grow wild and is planted in Korea, the these and writings on herbalogy, from literature of successive generations, have been thoroughly investigated and the results obtained were as follows: 1. There were totaled to 14 genera and 42 species in Korea and among them medicinal plants are 7 genera, 23 species, some 55% in total but, the number of species may be added because of the similiar plants. 2. According to the oriental names which can be used for medical purpose, the medicinal plants belonging to the Araceae family were classified as Rhizoma 20, Radix 10, Folium 4, Flos 3, Herba 1. Thus it was noticed that Rhizoma and Radix was the main kind. 3. According to sum of 42 species in Araceae family, they were classified into Arisaema genera 17, Acorus and Zantedeschia genera 4 each, Philodendron and Symplocarpus genera 3 each, Anthurium and Colocasia genera 2 each. Thus it was noticed that Arisaema genera was the main kind, some 40.5% in total. 4. According to nature and flavour of medicinal plants, they were classified into warmth and heat ; 25, cold and cool ; 3, balance 2 and unidentified 6. Thus it was noticed that warmth and heat is the main in nature and flavour of medicinal plants. 5. Comparing to whole medicinal plants 23 kinds, toxic drugs include minor toxin were 18 kinds, 78.3% of the whole. From this result, It was revealed that the plants for medical purpose in Araceae was 55% of the whole, in which RHIZOMA and RADIX was mostly abundunt. It is considered that many experiements and clinical approaches must be continued to use Araceae plants widely.

        우모 분해균의 분리 및 특성에 관한 연구

        Feather waste, generated in large quantities as a byproduct of commercial poultry processing, is almost pure keratin, which is not easily degradable by common proteolytic enzymes. Several feather-degrading bacterial isolates were isolated from feather waste and soil. These isolates were able to degrade chicken feather, when grown on basal medium containing 1.0% native feather as a source of energy, carbon, and nitrogen. The isolates were characterized according to morphological characteristics and biochemical tests, and Vitek and API kit system. belonging to the Acinetobacter calcoaceticus complex, Bacillus thuringiensis, Bacillus circulans, Bacillus cereus. It was observed that aerobic growth by the isolate on single whole chicken feather, resulted in complete degradation of the keratin protein after 5-6 days of incubation at 37℃. The production of protein by the organism was decreased with cultivation time, with the maximum activity coinciding with the start of the stationary phase. The kerationolytic activity increased with cultivation time.

        중합광원과 레진 색상이 복합레진의 중합깊이에 미치는 영향

        Purpose of this research is estimating polymerization depth of different source of light. XL 3000 for halogen light, Apollo 95E for plasma arc light and Easy cure for LED light source were used in this study. Different shade (B1 & A3) resin composites (Esthet-X, Dentsply, U.S.A.) were used to measure depth of cure. 1, 2, and 3 mm thick samples were light cured for three seconds, six seconds or 10 seconds with Apollo 95E and they were light cured with XL-3000 and Easy cure for 10 seconds, 20 seconds, or 40 seconds. Vicker's hardness test carried out after store samples for 24 hours in distilled water. Results were as following. 1. Curing time increases from all source of lights. curing depth increased(p<0.05). 2. Depth (that except 1mm group and 2mm group which lighten to halogen source of light) deepens in all groups, Vicker's hardness decreased(p<0.05). 3. Vicker's hardness of A3 shade composite was lower in all depths more than B1 shade composites in group that do polymerization for 10 seconds and 20 seconds using halogen source of light(p<0.05), but group that do polymerization for 40 seconds did not show difference(p>0.05). 4. Groups that do polymerization using Plasma arc and LED source of light did not show Vicker's hardness difference according to color at surface and 1mm depth(p>0.05), but showed difference according to color at 2mm and 3mm depth(p<0.05). The results showed that Apollo 95E need more polymerization times than manufacturer's recommendation (3 seconds), and Easy cure need polymerization time of XL-3000 at least.

      • AC plasma display panel에서 페닝 방전가스 혼합비 변화에 따른 휘도와 발광효율 향상에 관한 연구

        AC PDP에서 사용하는 가스의 혼합비, 압력 페닝 효과를 고려한 가스 조합의 최적화를 통해 낮은 방전전압으로 휘도의 증가를 얻을 수 있는 고휘도, 고효율 PDP 페닝 기체 혼합비를 찾고자 하였다. He(70%)-Ne(27%)-Xe(3%)의 3원 혼합기체와 Ne(96%)-Xe(4%)의 2원 혼합기체에 페닝 효과를 극대화하기 위한 소량의 Ar, Kr을 첨가하여 각각의 첨가비에 따른 방전 개시전압, 방전 유지저압, 휘도, 발광효율등을 측정하였다. 또한 페닝효과에 의한 방전 공간상의 전자수 증가를 확인하기 위해 셀 내의 전극 위에 쌓이는 벽전하 양을 측정하였다. 소량의 Ar(0.01%-0.03%) 또는 Kr(0.01%-0.03%)을 He-Ne-Xe과 Ne-Xe 혼합가스에 참가했을 때 페닝효과에 기인하여 휘도 및 발광효율이 각각 최고 10%-20% 증가하였다. We suggest a new penning gas mixture, in order to find the optimum mixture gas in plasma display panel. The optimum gas composition has been found by the partial pressure of inert gases (such as Ar and Kr added to matrix of He(70%)-Ne(27%)-Xe(3%) and Ne(96%)-Xe(4%). The influences of Ar of Kr addition to Ne(96%)-XE(4%) and He(70%)-Ne(27%)-Xe(3%) mixture gases are experimentally investigated for AC Plasma Display Panel. When rare Ar(0.01%-0.03%) or Kr(0.01%-0.03%) is added Ne-Xe and He-Ne-Xe mixture gases, the luminance increases over 10%-20% and luminous efficiency increases over 10-20% at 200Torr. It is sure that luminance and efficiency are improved by Penning effec.
