B hepatitis is considered as one of the most serious health issues in Korea because of its high prevalence and incidence rates and its close relationships with liver cirrhosis and primary hepatic carcinoma. It was once believed that parenteral transmission was only possible mode of hepatitis B virus infection until its serologic markers could have been identified. However, non-parenteral route was also recognized as important as parenteral one and its mode was classified into vertical and horizontal types. The familial clustering of B hepatitis was well documented by many authors, and some portion of non-parenteral transmission in family unit was discovered by many clinical and epidemiological studies. This study were carried out in a rural community of Korea to discover the degree of familial clustering and possible non-parenteral transmission route. Susceptibles, infected before 1985, the incidence cases between June, 1985 and April, 1986, and chronic carriers had been identified as index cases by the twice axaminations of serologic markers (HBsAg; RPHA, Anti-HBs;PHA). The examination of serologic markers to index cases and their family members was done in June, 1987. The major results are summarized as followings. 1. HBsAg positive rate in family members with susceptible was 3.12%, and the ratio of HBsAg positive rate in family members with infected before 1985, incidence case and chronic carrier upon susceptible was 4.27, 3.51 and 11.65 respectively. This result imply a strong familial clustering of hepatitis B virus infection and it was strongest in families with chronic carriers. 2. The degree of clustering in familial relationship was observed to increase in order of with siblings, mother and father. This result suggests the horizontal transmission between siblings is strong, but the vertical transmission from mother to hter offspings should also be considered as related to clustering in siblings. From the results of this study, it is recommended that all family members with HBsAg carriers should be examined on the serologic markers of hepatitis B virus infection and to take the appropriate measures.

Since, Davis(1991) has proposed the TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) through a literature review of informatization promotion, which insists that a user conveniency is judged by the degree of effectiveness caused by IT, the advancement of IT such as the Internet, e-mail, electronic data exchange, and groupware have brought into various changes in ordinary corporations and public institutions. However, with the right function, the advancement of IT has provided various benefits including additional reverse functions. Based on an integrated environment of business process, unauthorized user could access to information and a management of information becomes more difficult than before due to informatization of critical information. Furthermore, external hacking or information leakage by insider becomes easier owing to advancement in communication technology. This study has tried to develop a specified management procedure and implementation method for confidential documents.
Streptomyces sp. L79-333 배양액 유래의 항균활성물질의 분리정제

The strain designated as Streptomyces sp. L79-333 produced a water-insoluble compound, named as KP-2, which showed anti-microbial activities against several Gram-positive and negative bacteria under paper disk anti-microbial assay. The production of KP-2 in Streptomyces sp. culture broth was exarnined using several carbon and nitrogeo sources such as maltose and skim milk for their effects on growth of Streptomyces sp. as well on antibiotic activity. KP-2 was purified from the culture supernatant by 2-step silica gel column chromatography followed by solvent extraction. KP-2 represented a high pH stability under acidic and alkaline conditions showing more than 80%. Based on the studies of its spectroscopic properties using ultraviolet(UV) and infrared(IR), and fast atomic bombardment mass(FAB-Mass) spectrum analyses, KP-2 was identified as echinomycin. Echinomycin, also known as quinomycin A, is ao quinoxaline group antibiotic.
Streptomyces sp. L77-140 이 생산하는 항생물질의 분리정제 및 동정

In the course of the screening for microorganism producing antibiotics, Streptomyces sp. L77-140 was discovered which produced a water-soluble basic antibiotic L77-140. By using paper disk anti-microbial assay, the productivity of antibiotic from Streptomyces sp. L77-140 was tested by several carbon and nitrogen sources such as soluble starch and soybean flour, respectively. L77-140 showed anti-microbial activities against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. From the culture supernatant, L77-140 was purified by cation exchange chromatography and silicagel column chromatography. In the pH stability test, L77-140 was stable under acidic and alkali conditions. Based on the spectroscopic measurement including Ultra Violet(UV), In Frared(IR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and mass spectrum(Mass) analyses, L77-140 was identified as spenolimycin.

From the culture supernatant, L79-290 was purified by silicagel column chromatography follow after solvent and water extraction. In the pH stability test, L79-290 showed good stability over 80% under acidic and alkali conditions, respectively. Based on the spectroscopic measurement including ultraviolet(UV), infrared(IR), and fast atomic bombardment mass(FAB-Mass) spectrom analyses, L79-290 was identified as novobiocin. Novobiocin, also known as albamycin or cathomycin, is an aminocoumarin antibiotic that is produced by Streptomyces niveus.
Assessing Vascular Changes Associated with Healthy Aging using 7T Magnetic Resonance Angiography

Aging is known to produce changes in the cerebral vasculature and circulation. We aimed to quantitatively assess age-related changes in the morphology of small perforating vessels, lenticulostriate arteries (LSAs). LSA images were acquired using ultra-high field 7-Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (7T MRI) from 24 young healthy volunteers (young group: YG) and 25 old healthy volunteers (old group: OG). Vessel-related factors such as curvature and tortuosity were analyzed using two-dimensional images. Our quantitative results demonstrated a fewer in their branches and a significantly more pronounced curvature in the OG compared to the YG. These findings were further confirmed qualitatively using image analysis. Our study findings show that MR angiography utilizing ultra-high field MRI can provide high-resolution images that can identify morphological characteristics of small perforating vessels. Based on these features, it is possible to document ageinduced changes in cerebral small vessels.

Cheonggukjang is one of the traditional fermented soy-based foods in Korean diets. Studies in cell cultures, humans have revealed anti-hypertension, anti-stress, anticancer, antioxidant, immune enhancing effects. Angelica gigas, Rehmanniae radix, and Red ginseng are popular medicinal plants and widely used for oriental medicine. In this study a strategy had been developed to mobilize beneficial phenolics from Angelica gigas, Rehmanniae radix, and Red ginseng combined with fermented soy by Cheonggukjang fermentation for antioxidant and Type II diabetes management. The quality and functional characteristics of Chenggukjang fermented with Angelica gigas, Rehmanniae radix and Red ginseng. Cheonggukjang (CKJ), Angelica gigas Cheonggukjang (CKJ-DD), Rehmanniae radix Cheonggukjang (CKJ-RG), Angelica gigas and Rehmanniae radix Cheonggukjang (CKJ-DD+RG) and Red ginseng Cheonggukjang (CKJ-RED) were evaluated. The mobilized phenolic profile was evaluated for antioxidant activity and the potential to inhibit α-amylase linked to hyperglycaemia. This research has important implications for the development of functional soy-based-fermented foods enriched with Angelica gigas, Rehmanniae radix and Red ginseng phenolics for oxidative stress - induced diabetic complications. Furthermore, Hunter`s color values of 5 types cheonggukjang, lightness (L-values), redness (a-values) and yellowness (b-values) were evaluated. Free amino acid content of CKJ-RED (0.993 mg/gd. w.) showed higher than that of CKJ (0.205 mg/g-d.w.).

LCD 모니터의 백라이트로 CCFL 형광체를 많이 사용하고 있으나 그 불량여부는 육안에 의존하고 있다. 그러나 육안 검사는 CCFL 현광체의 불량에 대한 일관성 있는 기준이 결여되고, 노동집약적인 검사로 인해 산업적 재해가 발생할 수 있다. CCFL 불량유무를 자동 판별하기 위해서는 물리적 촬영환경과 자동검출 알고리즘이 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 CCFL 형광체의 불량을 자동으로 검사하기 위한 촬영 환경을 설명하고, 그 촬영환경에 알맞은 대표적인 불량검출 알고리즘을 제안한다. 실험결과에 따르면, 알고리즘은 불량 판별율 98.86%와 과검율 3.34%의 성능을 보였다.

Extracting information of maps is necessary to establish the GIS. In this paper, a house recognition method on the scanned topographic map is described. A contour detection method is used to extract houses from the scanned maps and RLE (run-length encoding) method is used for manipulating houses touching grid lines. To handle houses touched to roads and borderlines, morphological operation is used. To remove misrecognition occurred by morphological operation, the regions which contain characters on the mp are also automatically eliminated.
