N-acetyl cysteine inhibits H2O2-mediated reduction in the mineralization of MC3T3-E1 cells by down-regulating Nrf2/HO-1 pathway

There are controversial findings regarding the roles of nuclear factor (erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 (Nrf2)/heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) pathway on bone metabolism under oxidative stress. We investigated how Nrf2/HO-1 pathway affects osteoblast differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cells in response to hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), or both. Exposing the cells to H2O2 decreased the alkaline phosphatase activity, calcium accumulation, and expression of osteoblast markers, such as osteocalcin and runt-related transcription factor-2. In contrast, H2O2 treatment increased the expression of Nrf2 and HO-1 in the cells. Treatment with hemin, a chemical HO-1 inducer, mimicked the inhibitory effect of H2O2 on osteoblast differentiation by increasing the HO-1 expression and decreasing the osteogenic marker genes. Pretreatment with NAC restored all changes induced by H2O2 to near normal levels in the cells. Collectively, our findings suggest that H2O2-mediated activation of Nrf2/HO-1 pathway negatively regulates the osteoblast differentiation, which is inhibited by NAC. Involvement of Nrf2-Mediated Upregulation of Heme Oxygenase-1 in Mollugin-Induced Growth Inhibition and Apoptosis in Human Oral Cancer Cells

<P>Although previous studies have shown that mollugin, a bioactive phytochemical isolated from <I>Rubia cordifolia</I> L. (Rubiaceae), exhibits antitumor effects, its biological activity in oral cancer has not been reported. We thus investigated the effects and putative mechanism of apoptosis induced by mollugin in human oral squamous cell carcinoma cells (OSCCs). Results show that mollugin induces cell death in a dose-dependent manner in primary and metastatic OSCCs. Mollugin-induced cell death involved apoptosis, characterized by the appearance of nuclear shrinkage, flow cytometric analysis of sub-G<SUB>1</SUB> phase arrest, and annexin V-FITC and propidium iodide staining. Western blot analysis and RT-PCR revealed that mollugin suppressed activation of NF-<I><I>κ</I></I>B and NF-<I><I>κ</I></I>B-dependent gene products involved in antiapoptosis (Bcl-2 and Bcl-xl), invasion (MMP-9 and ICAM-1), and angiogenesis (FGF-2 and VEGF). Furthermore, mollugin induced the activation of p38, ERK, and JNK and the expression of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and nuclear factor E2–related factor 2 (Nrf2). Mollugin-induced growth inhibition and apoptosis of HO-1 were reversed by an HO-1 inhibitor and Nrf2 siRNA. Collectively, this is the first report to demonstrate the effectiveness of mollugin as a candidate for a chemotherapeutic agent in OSCCs via the upregulation of the HO-1 and Nrf2 pathways and the downregulation of NF-<I><I>κ</I></I>B.</P>

Dans l’adaptation d’un roman pour le cinéma, le plus important, ce serait de garder la continuité entre les originals et les adaptés, et en même temps de créer la nouveauté. Dans cette étude, nous voulons essayer de trouver cette contradiction qu’on peut trouver au cours de l’adaptation, en comparant Les pluies saisonnières de Younhengil au film adapté de ce roman par KBS Media; et aussi le conte La poule qui sort de la cour de Whangseunmi au film d’animation adapté de ce conte. D’abord nous avons constaté que les oeuvres littérales ont l’avantage de la description psychologique des personnages; en réalité le cinéma aurait plus de difficulté pour bien poursuivre le cours psychologique des personnages avec des images. Par contre les oeuvres en image ont l’avantage de montrer plus facilement les événements par des images, et d'intéresser plus directement les spectateurs aux intrigues. En fait, le film d’animation a changé de l’atmosphère philosophique du conte en introduisant de nouveaux caractères et surtout le concours des canards. Enfin nous avons trouvé qu’il faut considérer avant l’adaptation, pour bien réussir au ‘storytelling’, ce genre des avantages et des désavantages.

Nous avons d'abord ?tudi? la signification physiognomonique des couleurs des yeux chez les personnages balzaciens: les yeux noirs symbolisent le mat?rialisme et la passion; les yeux bleus l'id?alisme. En plus, les couleurs plus fonc?es et ?tranges, par exemple vertes, rouges, jaunes, etc, sont l'enbl?me de la malheur et du destin sinistre. 경남 밀양지역 旌閣 建築에 관한 연구

This study is intended to examine the relationship between jeong-gak and a village, types of jeong-gak, and the architectural characteristics of jeong-gak. Jeong-gak architecture, which is the subject of this study, ranges from 15C to right before the liberation in 19C. There are eighteen sites of jeongryeo-gak, and three sites of sukjeongryeo-gak. Jeong-gak is generally located near the entrance of a village, and flat-ground style is the most popular for its location. Jeong-gak is often located from the right side of a village. The form of jeong-gak consists of the two types, which are jeongryeo-gak and sukjeongryeo-gak. Sukjeongryeo-gak is only found in the southwest miryang. Architecturally, hongsal is established in the front of jeong-gak's wall, and a mud wall or a wood siding wall is established in both sides and the back. It is all dconcluded by a wall painting. The upper part of a pillar mostly follows the iyikgong form of ikgong system. Gyup-cheoma mathae roof is mainly found as a roof form. This differs from gyup-cheoma paljak roof, which is frequently found in jeong-gak in Jeon-Buk area.

중소기업의 기업문화에 대한 비교 연구 : 한국과 대만의 중소기업을 중심으로

Whether local managerial systems and practices converge into the global standard is a very interesting and important question. As a first step to answer this question, this study examines the differences and similarities between Korean and Taiwanese small and medium-sized firms. Comparative analysis focuses to the variables related with internationalization process. They includes corporate culture(international orientation, problem solving behavior), human resources management system, strategy types and competitive advantages. And it examines whether or not fitness among corporate culture, strategy types, competitive advantages is achieved. Then the impact of fitness on performance is examined. According to strategic management literatures, strong fitness leads to higher performance. Empirical data collected by means of direct interviews and a questionnaire survey. The major findings of this comparative study is as follows. The results indicate that firms with fitted resources with fitted strategies perform better than unfitted ones. The most interest finding is the fitness between two cultural dimensions which are international orientation and problem solving behavior.

한국기업의 해외직접투자 : 전략적 접근법의 필요성

이 논문은 한국기업의 해외직접투자를 설명하는 일반이론을 정립하기 위한 전단계적 연구로 한국의 전체수출에서 점하는 비중이 높고 해외직접투자를 통한 국제화가 가장 활발하게 이루어지고 있는 섬유산업과 신발산업을 대상으로 하여 한국기업의 해외직접투자에서 나타나는 특징이 절충 이론이 예상하는 특징과 다르다는 것을 실증적으로 보이고자 하며, 이를 통해 기존의 접근법과는 다른 전략적 접근법이 필요함을 강조하고자 한다.

한국기업의 해외기업인수 결정요인에 관한 연구

본 연구는 한국기업의 해외기업인수의 증대에 부응하여 이의 결정요인을 분석하고자 하였다. 해외기업인수 결정요인은 모기업의 국제화 경험, 인수지역의 진출경험, 인수기업의 규모, 모기업의 연구집약도, 제품수명주기 등의 여섯 가지로 파악되었다. 모기업의 국제화경험은 그 정도가 높을수록 해외기업에 대한 인수성향이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 인수지역에 대한 진출경험은 해외기업인수시 현지의 기업환경 또는 기업문화에 생소하지 않고 적응가능하게 하여 기업인수에 대한 불확실성을 제거해준다. 특히 한국기업과 같은 개도국의 경우 초기 인수전략의 특성상 해당 투자동일 지역에 이미 자화사가 진출해 있는 경우 현지기업의 매각정보입수 및 기존의 사업관계등으로 신설보다는 인수전략을 선택할 가능성이 높아진다. 또한 과거국내기업의 인수경험이 있는 기업은 국내기업의 인수를 통해 인수작업을 학습할 수 가 있어 새로운 조직적변화에 보다 효과적으로 대처할 수 있다. 인수기업의 규모는 그 정도가 클 수록 상대적으로 많은 경영자원과 생산설비를 투입할 수 있는 여력이 있는 것으로 보아 인수행위에 보다 적극적이라 하겠다. 한국기업의 해외기업인수의 대표적인 사례의 분석에서는 두 기업모두 선진시술의 취득, 기존시장의 보호 및 개척, 원자재 확보의 동기로 투자가 되었다. 이는 한국기업의 해외투자의 특성을 잘 대변해 주는 것이라 하겠다. 특히 선진기술의 취득을 위한 해외기업인수와 해외시장 확보 및 개척을 위한 해외기업인수의 중요성은 최근들어 가격경쟁력의 약화, 선진각국의 기술보호조치로 인하여 기술도입이 점차어려워지도 있다는 점에서 볼 때 해외기업인수가 갖는 의미는 매우 크다고 하겠다.

52 Mbps급 CAP 전송시스템의 모델링과 성능분석

Carrierless Amplitude Modulation/Phase Modulation(CAP) has the same spectral characteristics and provides the same theoretical performance as QAM, but is generally less complex to implement digitally. In this paper, a 52 Mbps CAP transceiver system is modeled and simulated according to DAVIC VDSL standard. Also we analyzed error rate characteristics under AWGN channel by using MATLAB.
