        In the study , the feasibility of deposit soil in river and stream bed as a substitute for conventional plant soil was investigated through the analysis of soil characteristics and germination growth rate for 75days. Proper mix between samples from different places was compared to optimize the germination and growth rate of plant in the ratio of 2 : 1 and 3 : 1 (sand : deposit). From the results, it could be concluded that the deposit mix 3 : 1 showed most favorable germination and growth conditions for pancy and the deposit containing enough amount of silt and clay components showed most favorable conditions for marigold. Consequently, the feasibility of deposits as a substitutional plant soil was evaluated to be high.

        Studies on N-Ethyl-N-nitrosourea Mutagenesis in BALB/c Mice

        N-ethyl-N-nitrosoures (ENU) is effective in inducing hypermorphic mutation as well as hypomorphic and antimorphic mutations. Therefore, this mutagen is used to the production of mutant in the mice. In order to perform an effective ENU mutagenesis using BALB/cAnN mice, determination of optimal dosage and dosage regimen of ENU is necessary. And this study tried to develop a suitable screening method and searched for novel and various mutants as model animals in phenotypedriven ENU mutagenesis. We have carried out dosage regimen for mutagenizing dose of 200 mg/kg ENU in the BALB/c mice. Total screened mice were 30,133. As the results of Esaki and Cho's Phenotype Screening, we got 2,516 phenotypic and behavior abnormalities in $G_1,\;G_2\;and\;G_3$ mice. One hundred thirty five $G_1$ phenodeviants were tested for inheritance and 16 dominant mutants were discovered. Forty two recessive mutants were also found in tested 201 micropedigrees. Early-onset mutant mice included the dysmorphology of face, eye, tail, limb, skin, and foot and abnormal behavior like circling, swimming, head tossing, stiff-walking, high cholesterol level, and tremor etc. In this study we could effectively screen $G_3$ recessive mutants. The frequent and concise early-onset screening before weaning will be available for ENU mutagenesis.

      • Geocrete와 규산액을 이용한 매립지 사면 침출수 누출제어

        There are two strategies to cope with the troubles in landfill site after closure. The first method is active in a way that the wastes are dug up and the recyclable materials are reutilized, meanwhile the materials not recyclable are incinerated in order to minimize the volume of residues to be disposed of. The second method is rather passive and defensive in a way that the source of contamination, that is, buried wastes are not treated. Instead, the transport of leaking leachate and gases generated from the wastes are intercepted and controlled. In the study, as a passive way, the efficient leachate blocking process will be investigated, and how well geocrete and soluble sodium silicate can be utilized as a substitute to controls leachate leaking from landfill sidewall. In case of compression test, the strength of mixture ( I ) and (Ⅱ), even after 7 days' curing were higher than the criteria threshold (5 kg/cm2). Soaking in the acrid for 4 days and 7 days respectively, the compressive strength of the specimens reduced seriously. The toxicity of geocrete is not detected through the bioassay test, once it is mixed with sodium silicate and the complex is formed. The hydraulic conductivity of the mixtures even after 7 days' curing satisfied the threshold limit (1.0×10-7cm/s).

      • ELASTIC BAND 운동과 스트레칭 운동이 노인 당뇨환자의 혈당, 중성지질 및 근지구력에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study s to find the effects of elastic band exercise and stretching exercise on glucose level, triglyceride and muscle endurance in elderly patient with NDDM. The subjects consisted of elderly patient(n=20) with NlDDM dstributed into resstance training group(n=10) and stretching exercise group(n=10). Both groups participated in resstance training and stretching exercise program respectively, 3times per wear during 9weeks. Repeated measures ANOVA was used for statstical analysis. The results of this study are following. 1. Glucose level of both groups decreased significantly after 9 weeks training. There was significant differences between groups in FBS and no significant differences between groups in PP2 after training. There was significant differences in PP2 at time and no significant differences in FBS at times. 2. There was significant decreases in triglyceride level of both groups after 9 weeks training, however no significant differences showed between goups. There was no significant differences between groups at time. 3. Muscle endurance of both groups increased after 9weeks training, however no significant differences showed between groups. There was no significant differences between groups at time.

      • 12주간의 등속성 운동이 노인 여성의 낙상관련 변인에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study is to find whether isokinetic training has a good effect on decrease of falling fitness factors caused by aging and find the training program which has a good effect on physical factors. The subjects of this study are 15 elderly women aged from 61 to 65. The subjects were distributed into two groups, low-speed isokinetic training program group(n=8) and high-speed isokinetic training program group(n=7) respectively. The subjects of isokinetic training group participated in lower extremities isokinetic training program three times a week for 12. weeks. Changes of falling fitness factors(power, agility, gait speed, and balance) after training were analyzed through repeated measures anova. Results of this study are following: 1. There was a significant difference in balance test after 12. week training between high-speed isokinetic training group and low-speed isokinetic training group. 2. There was no significant difference in power test after 12 week training between high-speed isokinetic training group and low-speed isokinetic training group. 3. There was no significant difference in agility test after 12. week training between high-speed isokinetic training group and low-speed isokinetic training group. 4. There was a significant difference in gait speed test after 12 week training between high-speed isokinetic training group and low-speed isokinetic training group.

      • 등속성 운동이 노인 여성의 하지근력에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study is to find whether isokinetic training has a good effect on decrease of the lower limbs muscular strngth caused by aging and find the isokinetic training Speed which has a good effect on muscular strength. The subjects of this study are 16 elderly women aged from 61 to 65. The subjects were distributed into two groups, low-speed isokinetic training program group(n=8) arid high-speed isokinetic training program group(n=8) respectively. The subjects of two groups participated in lower extremities isokinetic training program three times a week for 12 weeks. Changes of the lower limbs muscular strength after training were analyzed through repeated measures anova. Results of this study are following: 1. Change of knee extension isokinetic peak torque at the 60˚/ sec in the LS group after 12 week training was significantly different form HS groups. There was no significant difference in knee flexion peak torque among groups. 2. Change of knee extension isokinetic peak torque at the 180˚/sec in the HS group after week training was significantly different form LS groups. There was no significant difference in knee flexion peak torque among groups.

      • 냉간압출에 의한 새로운 헬리컬기어의 제조에 관한 연구

        A new helical gear forming process by cold extrusion was proposed and its numerical solution program based on the upper bound method was developed. In the analysis the involute curve was used as a shape of die and the upper bound method was used to calculate energy dissipation rate. By this method the power requirement and optimum conditions necessary for extruding helical gear were successfully calculated. These numerical solutions were in good agreement with experimental data. In the experiment, die life of a new was greatly improved compared with hat of Samanta process and 4~5 class helical gear of KS standard for automobile transmission was successfully manufactured.

      • 교내 지하수의 수질 현황 조사

        Groundwater in Chungnam National University was analyzed forty four terms (except THMs) to evaluate groundwater contamination. In case of microbiological contaminants, the concentrations were found less than those in regulation. Aesthetic contaminants showed same results. Inorganic contaminants such as fluoride and nitrate were found few Organic contaminants did not exist in groundwater at all. Consequently, all groundwater in campus can be regarded as satisfying the drinking water criteria. However, to maintain safe and pleasant groundwater, continuous monitoring should be performed on a regular base.
