In order to produce centellosides from whole plant cultures of Centella asiatica (L.) Urban, we evaluated the synergistic effects of thidiazuron (TDZ) and methyl jasmonate (MJ) on whole plant growth and centelloside production. After 4 weeks of treatment with 0.025 mg/L of TDZ coupled with 0.1 mM MJ, the production of made-cassoside and asiaticoside from whole plant cultures was estimated to be 2.40- and 2.44-fold, respectively, above that of MJ elicitation alone. When whole plants were treated with a growth regulator and an elicitor, the growth of whole plants, as compared to the controls, did not differ. Additionally, total phytosyterol content in the leaves of whole plants co-treated with MJ and TDZ was 1.08-fold greater than those of MJ alone. These results demonstrate that combined treatments not only stimulate the accumulation of centellosides in the leaves but also inhibit the reduction of phytosterol levels caused by MJ elicitation.

폐프린트배선기관(PCBs)과 폐범퍼의 열분해 및 연소특성에 관한 연구를 TG, GC-MS 및 FT-IR을 이용하여 수행하였다. 열적 분해반응의 속도상수에 대한 정보를 얻기 위하여 질량감소 곡선 및 그 미분값을 Flynn-Wall, Coats-Redfern 및 Ozawa 방법을 이용하여 해석하였다. 속도론적 연구결과로부터 폐범퍼의 겉보기 활성화에너지 값은 질소분위기에서 보다 공기분위기에서 더 낮은 값을 보여주었으며 반면에 PCBs의 경우 분위기에 따라 겉보기 활성화 에너지 값에 거의 변화가 없음을 알 수 있었다. 생성물의 특성 분석으로부터 PCBs 와 폐범퍼의 열분해 및 연소로부터 생성된 물질은 주로 가스 성분이었으며 산소의 농도가 증가함에 따라 잔류물의 함량은 줄어들었다. 그리고 액상 생성물의 방향족 화합물 성분은 온도가 감소함에 따라 Diels-Alder반응에 의한 에텐 및 부타디엔 등과 같은 기상 생성물의 재중합으로 인하여 증가하였다. 또한 연소후 생성된 잔류물의 재활용 가능성을 확인하기 위하여 PCBs로부터의 잔류물에 대한 표면적과 adsorption total pore volume을 측정하였다. The pyrolysis and combustion characteristics of printed circuit boards(PCBs) and waste bumper have been studied by using thermogravimetry(TG), gas chromatograph-mass spectrometry(GC-MS) and fourier transform infrared spectroscope(FT-IR). To obtain the information on the kinetic parameters of thermal decomposition of PCBs and waste bumper, the dynamic thermogravimetric analysis curve and its derivative have been analyzed by Flynn-Wall, Coats-Redfern and Ozawa methods. From the kinetic analysis, the apparent activation energies of waste bumper in air atmosphere are lower than those in nitrogen atmosphere while the apparent activation energies of PCBs are little effected by atmosphere. From the products analysis, the products from the pyrolysis and combustion of PCBs and waste bumper are mainly composed of gaseous products. As the concentration of oxygen increases, an decreasing tendency of the yield of residue from PCBs is observed. The aromatic compounds of liquid product increase as decreasing the temperature because the gas product such as ethene, propene and butadiene are combined by the Diels-Alder reaction. To verify the possibility for the recycling of residue from pyrolysis and combustion, the resulting residue of PCBs has been analyzed for their surface area and adsorption total pore volume.

Despite significant advances in dialysis technology, kidney transplantation is accepted today as the optimal available treatment for end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in children and adolescents. Children undergoing renal transplantation pose many challenges to the anesthesiologist because ESRD has such adversely affects on the entire vital organ system as hypotension, hypovolemia, acidosis, atelectasis and pulmonary edema. Most importantly, hypotension and hypovolemia as results of large kidney transplantation should be corrected for normal renal function. In addition, ESRD alters the effects of various drugs used in anesthetic practice. We experienced 4 cases of general anesthesia for renal transplantation in children. Careful preoperative evaluation and preparation of the patients, as well as a knowledge of altered dry responses are essential in planning and managing anesthesia. <B>ABSTRACT</B><P>We identified 25 high-level mupirocin-resistant (MuH) and 21 low-level mupirocin-resistant (MuL) <I>Staphylococcus aureus</I> isolates from eight long-term-care facilities (LTCFs). The pulsed-field gel electrophoresis patterns of 19 MuH and 19 MuL isolates from two facilities were identical for 18 and 15 isolates, respectively. The most predominant <I>mupA</I> restriction fragment length polymorphism type was found in 21 MuH isolates. We conclude that clonal transmission of MuH and MuL <I>S. aureus</I> strains occurred in these LTCFs. This is the first report of clonal transfer of mupirocin resistance in LTCFs.</P>
2010년 국민건강영양조사에 근거한 매실가공품 섭취로부터 한국인의 일인당 하루 총페놀, 총플라보노이드 및 항산화능 섭취량 추정

본 연구에서는 시중에서 판매 중인 매실가공품 중 매실주 4종, 매실음료 2종, 매실원액 4종을 선정하여 총페놀 함량, 총플라보노이드 함량 및 항산화능을 정량 분석하고, 2010년도 국민건강영양조사 자료를 바탕으로 매실가공품 섭취를 통하여 얻어지는 총페놀 함량, 총플라보노이드 함량 및 항산화능을 추정하였다. 2010년에 실시한 국민건강영양조사의 원시자료 분석을 통해 매실주(0.17 g/capita/day), 매실음료(1.39 g/capita/day), 매실원액(0.81 g/capita/day)의 일인당 하루 섭취량을 산출하였다. 매실가공품 섭취를 통해서 얻어진 일인당 하루 섭취량의 경우, 총페놀 섭취량은 1.05 mg GAE/capita/day, 총플라보노이드 섭취량은 0.13mg CE/capita/day, 항산화능은 0.70mg VCE/capita/day (DPPH법), 1.04 mg VCE/capita/day (ABTS법)였다. 일인당 하루 총페놀 섭취량, 총플라보노이드 섭취량 및 항산화능 섭취량 추정은 매실가공품의 섭취량뿐만 아니라 매실가공품 자체의 생리활성 성분의 함량에도 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. The total phenolics, total flavonoids, and antioxidant capacities of ten commercial products of Japanese apricot (maesil) were evaluated, including four kinds of alcoholic drinks, two kinds of soft drinks, and four kinds of concentrate found in the Korean market. The daily per capita consumption (g/capita/day) of each product was calculated from in the existing dataset of the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 2010. Using the combined datasets indicated above, the daily per capita intake of total phenolics from maesil product consumption was found to be 1.05 mg gallic acid equivalents. The daily per capita intake of total flavonoids was determined to be 0.13 mg catechin equivalents, and the daily per capita intake of antioxidant capacities were measured at 0.70 mg vitamin C equivalents (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl assay), and at 1.04 mg vitamin C equivalents (2,2-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) assay). The daily per capita intakes of total phenolics, total flavonoids, and antioxidant capacities were influenced by the daily quantity of consumption of maesil products, as well as their compositional contents.
