1. The pollution of Chunggae stream from April to September, 1973 was graded through saprobien system. 2. The 37 indicated species collected from the surveyed area were as follows: bacteria (3), schizophyceae (5), flagellatae (5), diatoms (6), chlorophyceae (2), conjugatae (2), rhizopoda (1), ciliata (5), nemertini (1), rotifera (4), crustacea (2), and insecta (1). 3. Pollution grade of the surveyed stations: station 1, α-ms zone, stations 2 and 5, β-ps zone, and stations 3 and 4, α-ps zone. 4. All the stations were ps zones except station 1. Thus it may be concluded that the inflow of the Chunggae stream in one of the most important factors of the polluted Han River.
무심천에 (無心川) 있어서 조류의 (藻類) 다양성에 의한 오염도 연구

This study has been carried out to estimate for the water pollution of Moosim stream by the value of diversity of algaes and to know the effect of Moosim stream on the water quality of Miho stream. 1. This study has been carried out in Moosim stream from May to October and in Miho stream from August to October 1979. 2. Algaes collected from the surveyed areas are as follows: 2 species of schizophyceae, 3 species of flageatae, 11 species of diatoms, 2 species of chlorophyceae and 1 species of conjugatae. 3. In Moosim stream, the surveyed areas are divided into two parts by saprobien system according to the diversity indices. The site I belongs to β-mesosaprobic but the other parts belong to α-mesosaprobic, the values of which are near to those of ploysaprobic. 4. Water quality of Miho stream is polluted slightly by the inflow of polluted water from Moosim stream.
한강수의 오염도에 따른 오수생물학적 (汚水生物學的) 연구

1. The pollution grade of the Han River and Keum-Gang areas was investigated through saprobien system from April to October, 1973. 2. The 53 indicated species collected from the surveyed area were a follows: bacteria(3), schizophyceae(8), flagellatae(4), diatoms(10), cholroghyceae(6), conjugatae(4), rhizopoda(3), ciliata(5), nemertini(1), rotifera(6) and crustacea (3). 3. The pollution grade of Chungpyeong, Dooksum, and the 1st Han River bridge was oligosaprobic, α-mesosaprobic, and β-polysaprobic respectively. It is considered that the increase of pollution grade of the 1st Han River bridge was caused by the inflow of polluted water from Chunggye stream. 4. The pollution grade of Yeomchang area was indicated as β-polysaprobic and Kimpo area as α-mesosaprobic. 5. The pollution grade of three surveyed areas of Keum-Gang were β-mesosabrobic, which resembled that of Paldang.

For working out the countermeasure against the water pollution at Yedang Reservoir in Yesan-gun, Chung Nam Province, thirty factors of water properties were checked seasonally in 1991. The values of TSS, turbidity, DO, BOD, COD, Cl^-, NH_4^+ and NO_2^- were 8.0-20.7mg/l, 3.7-25.0, 9.8-12.7mg/l, 1.95-5.25mg/l, 5.2-14.Omg/l, 3.4-11.3mg/l, 0.270㎍/l and 5-60㎍/l respectively, and the highest in summer. But contents of total phosphate(24-5l㎍/l), ABS(13.2-64.0㎍/l) and chlorophyll-a (2.0-42.7mg/l) were higher in autumn than any other season. The contents of CN^- and toxic heavy metals in water were zero or low annually. The eutrophication of Yedang reservoir could be classified to mesotrophic lake from summer to fall season and oligotrophic-mesotrophic lake from winter to spring season by measuring amount of total nitrogen, total phosphorus and chlorophyll-a. On the Environmental Quality Standard of Lake, water qualities of Yedang Reservoir were 3-5 levels, but contents of toxic heavy metals and synthetic substance did not exceed the level of Human Health Safeguard.
