This study was carried out to know the variation of some leaf characteristics in Phyllostachys bambusoides by district and stands in Korea. The results obtained were summarized as follows ; The coefficients of variation of leaf characteristics in Iri were higher than the other districts. The variation coefficients of leaf characteristics were highly shown among stands in districts. The leaf characteristics were not significant differences in districts except in Iri. The leaf characteristics among stands were significant differences. The frequency distributions of form quotient of leaf blade width/leaf blade length were shown to be different from Gyeongju and Ulsan districts. In conclusion, the variations of leaf characteristics of Phyllostachys bambusoides were highly showed among stands in districs.
치주질환과 용해소체 효소 : 치은 조직내의 β-glucuronidase에 관한 연구 A study on β-glucuronidase in human gingiva

Given the cyclical, episodic pattern of periodontal disease activity, it seems logical to suggest that a meaningful approach to periodontal diagnosis would involve the measures of bioohemical status of the periodontal tissues. β-Glucuronidase. for such a marker associated with tissue breakdown, was analyzed from gingival tissue of 38 periodontal patients aged 27 ∼ 62 years. Gingival tissues was removed from first molar area during periodontal surgery which was homogenized in 0.25M sucrose solution and then centrifused. By the modification of the method of Dingle (1972), β-glucuronidase was assayed spectrophotometrically from supernatant enzyme prparation, and compared with clinical parameters such as pocket depth or gingival indes. Mean value of total enzyme activity(latent fraction + active fraction) was 6.836 ±0.498, and free enzyme activity(active fraction only) 6.373 ±0.453 liberated phenolphthalein ㎎/protein ㎎/hr ; that means the extremely low latency(6.8%) of β-glucuronidase in periodontal subject. As the degree of pocket depth or gingival index increased, also free or total enzyme activities were increased accordingly, and above salient feature was especially significant in the relation between pocket depth and enzyme activity. The correlation coefficient between β-glucuronidase activity and pocket depth was hidden than respective value for gingival index; these results suggest that clinical assessment of inflammation by gingival index may be related to the size of inflammatory infiltrate with lesser degree of sensitivity.
치근단절제술 후 Cold-burnished Gutta-percha가 치유에 미치는 임상적 연구

The purpose of this retrospective study was to radiographically evaluate the apical sealing efficacy of cold-burnished gutta-percha as a root-end filling material. Radiographs of 41 teeth from 37 patients were used, with the recall period ranging from a minimum of 1 yr to a maximum of 6.7 yr. Radiographic findings were classified into one of three groups: 1. complete healing; 2, incomplete healing(scar tissue); 3, unsatisfactory healing. The results were as follows: 1. There was no significant difference in frequency of operation between male and female. 2. The teeth most frequently operated on were the maxillary central incisors (39%). The Maxillary lateral incisors were the second largest group in frequency at 34%. 3. Patients between 21 and 40 yr of age formed the single largest group. 4. Complete healing was found in 58.5% of the recall cases, while incomplete and unsatisfactory healing occurred in 34.2% and 7.3% of the cases, respectively. Based on this retrospective study, We concluded that 38 of 41 cases(92.7%) were considered to be successful and 3 cases (7.3%) were determined to be failures.
Mineral Trioxide Aggregate(MTA)의 치근단 역충전효과에 대한 임상적 연구

Although numerous materials have been recommended as root end filling material, so far no material has been found to satisfy all of the requirements of an ideal material. An experimental material, mineral trioxide aggregate(MTA), has been recently developed to seal off all pathways of communication between the root canal system and the external surface of the tooth. This material has been used to seal the root end cavities in extracted teeth and similar preparations in beagle dogs and shown very promising results. In this clinical study, 5 anterior teeth from three patients were used to clinically and radiographically evaluate the efficacy of MTA as a root end filling material on a short-term basis. After removing the apical 2 to 3 ㎜ of the roots, The root end cavities were prepared and filled with MTA. The results were as follows: 1. All the cases demonstrated excellent healing radiographically and absence of clinical signs and symptoms. 2. According to the results, it appeared that MTA had a good sealing ability and biocompatibility. 3. MTA showed very promising results as a root end filling material, but Long-term clinical retrospective studies of many cases are recommended to get the most valid evaluations.
