Thirty one marine molluscan species were added to the malacofauna of Dokdo Island, Korea based on the samples collected from April 2006 to August 2008 with SCUBA diving. As a result, one hundred six marine molluscan species were recorded from Dokdo Island hitherto.

Stomach contents of 518 specimens of the yellow goosefish, Lophius litulon caught by the off-shore stownet in the southern waters of Korea were examined by means of the calculation of the frequency of occurrence, number and weight percentages, and index of relative importance (IRI) in each prey organisms. Prey organisms of the yellow goosefish consist of fishes, crustaceans, cephalopods. Fishes were dominant prey group, and occupied 98.8% in IRI of prey organisms. Four species of fish, Pseudosciaena manchurica, Collichthys niveatus, Engraulis japonica, Trichiurus lepturus were dominant as to the IRI and occupied 87.2% of the total IRI. P. manchurica was a dominant prey organism in predator`s stomach through the year, and the other dominant prey organisms occurred intermittently with seasonal progress. P. manchurica was a dominant prey organism to all fish size, too. C. niveatus and E. japonica decreased in importance in the diet as the fish size increased, concomitant with an increase in importance of T. lepturus. Mean species number and mean individual number of prey organisms increased with the fish size.

1987년 1-2월에 걸쳐 동지나해에서 대형기저쌍끌이어업에 의해 어획된 덕대를 대상으로 연령, 성장에 관하여 조사하였다. 연령사정은 추체로 하였으며, 추체경에 대한 연역지수에 의한 윤문의 형성은 9-10월에 걸쳐 연 1회 형성되었다. 추체경(R)에 대한 체장(FL)과의 관계는 암컷 ; FL= 8.8262R^(0.7709) 수컷 ; FL= 8.9676R^(0.7276) 전체 ; FL= 8.7883R^(0.7681) 과 같다. 체장(FL)에 대한 체중(BW)과의 관계는 암컷 ; BW=0.0093FL^(3.3795) 수컷 ; BW=0.0081FL^(3.4153) 전체 ; BW=0.0084FL^(3.4125) 와 같다 연령(t)에 대한 체장(L)의 버틀란피 성장식은 암컷 ; L_t=29.17(1-exp(-0.3213(t+0.7601))) 수컷 ; L_t=28.21(1-exp(-0.3169(t+0.8284))) 전체 ; L_t=29.00(1-exp(-0.3228(t+0.7361))) 와 같다 연령(t)에 대한 체중(Wt)의 버틀란피 성장식은 암컷 ; W_t=829.4(1-exp(-0.3213(t+0.7601)))^(3.3795) 수컷 ; W_t=747.6(1-exp(-0.3169(t+0.8284)))^(3.4154) 전체 ; W_t=816.8(1-exp(-0.3228(t+0.7361)))^(3.4125) 와 같다. 월별 연령별 평균체장(L_t)에 대한 주기변동 버틀란피성장식은 암컷 ; L_t=29.2(1-exp(-0.3458(t+0.8182)+(0.3458/2π) sin2π(t+0.027))) 수컷 ; L_t=28.2(1-exp(-0.2789(t+1.5193)+(0.2789/2π) sin2π(t-0.1062))) 와 같다. Growth of the Korean pomfret, Pampus echinogaster, captured in the East China Sea from January to December 1987, was estimated by annual rings on the vertebral centrum. The time of annual ring formation was approximately during September and October. Von Bertalanffy growth equations derived from the mean back-calculated fork length(㎝) at each age were as follows: for females, L_t,=29.17(1-exp(-0.3213(t+0.7601))), for males, L_t,=28.21(1-exp(-0.3169(t+0.8284))), and for sexes combined, L_t=29.00(1-exp(-0.3228(t+0.7361))). Seasonal growth equations derived from the mean obeserved fork length (㎝) at age by month were as follows: for females, L_t=29.2(1-exp(-0.3458(t+0.8182)+(0.3458/2π) sin2π(t+0.027))), and for males, L_t=28.2(1-exp(-0.2789(t+1.5913)+(0.2789/2π) sin2π (t-0.1062))).

Four species of ophichthid leptocephali were identified using 12S rDNA sequences, and their morphological descriptions were first provided based on six individuals (S1S3,M1, and E1E2) collected from the East Sea and the Korea Strait between September 2008 and October 2010. Mitochondrial 12S rDNA 859861 base pairs of ophichthid leptocephali were compared with those of 16 ophichthids adult and 2 outgroups (Anguilla japonica and Conger myriaster). Leptocephali of S1 and E1 were very closely clustered with adult of Scolecenchelys borealis (D0.002) and Echelus uropterus (D0.000), respectively. However, leptocephali of S2S3 andM1 were slightly far clustered with leptocephalus of S1 (D0.006) and adult of Muraenichthys gymnopterus (0.034), respectively. We believe that S1 and E1 are S. borealis and E. uropterus, respectively, in which the former is unrecorded species in Korea. However, S2S3 and M1 may be undescribed species belonging to genus Scolecenchelys and Muraenichthys,respectively, because total numbers of myomeres for S2S3 (148158) and M1 (151) were not consistent with total numbers of vertebrae or distribution for any adult of Scolecenchelys spp. and Muraenichthys spp. in the world. We propose the new Korean name ‘Dong-hae-mul-baem’ for S. borealis.
