Fluid flow around Manganese nodule mining device in Deep-sea is experimentally investigated using a scale model. The size of miniaturized device is 1/40 times smaller, and similarity principle is employed to analyze the flow characteristics. The model is made by 3D printing method called for MJP(Multi Jetting Printing, Polyjet), and flow velocity distribution is measured. Complicated flow field occurs from the rear of the mining device, and the velocity variation rate decreases with downstream distance in flow direction. Comparative analysis for various operating conditions with the behavior of Manganese nodules is necessary afterward.

This paper shows the development of flexible force sensor using the fiber Bragg grating. This force sensor consists of a Bragg grating fiber and flexible silicone rubber (DC 184, Dow corning co. Ltd). This sensor does not have special structure to maximize the deflection or elongation, but have good sensitivity and very flexible characteristics. In addition, this sensor has the immunity to the electro magnetic field and can be multiplexed easily, which is inherited from the characteristics of fiber Bragg grating sensor. In the future, this sensor can be utilized the tactile sensor system minimizing the sensor size and developing the fabrication method.

This paper describes the taxel for the intelligent artificial skin which has the simple structure with the fiber Bragg grating and the flexible silicone rubber. The dimension of the newly designed taxel is determined to minimize the chirping by the non-uniform strain distribution of the Bragg grating and light loss by the microbending of the optical fiber using the finite element analysis. Compared to conventional tactile sensors that use a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) technique, this taxel can detect the pressure more precisely, and has very simple wiring as well as structure that can be easily fabricated. Moreover, this sensor has a high resistance to corrosion and strong endurance, as it uses optical fiber sensors.

본 논문에서는 하나의 시스템안에서 효율적인 유전자 데이터의 관리와 다양한 서열 분석작업이 가능한 웹 기반의 서열 분석 및 관리 시스템인 GWB(Gene Workbench)를 설계하고 구현하였다. GWB는 로컬 데이터베이스 관리뿐만 아니라 GenBank, EMBL, SWISSPROT와 같은 외부 공공 데이터베이스에 대한 접근 기능도 제공하며, 권한을 가진 내부 이용자와 그렇지 못한 외부 이용자들을 구분하여 일부 유용한 기능들을 외부 사용자들도 이용할 수 있도록 설계 되었다. 또 GWB는 유전자에 관한 문헌정보 검색과 관련 유전자 탐색 기능 등 일분 유전자 기능 연구를 지원하는 기능을 제공하고 있다.

In this paper we present a new real-time visual servoing unit for laparoscopic surgery. This unit can automatically control laparoscope manipulator through visual tracking of laparoscopic surgical tool. For the tracking, we present two-stage adaptive CONDENSATION(conditional density propagation) algorithm to extract the accurate position of the surgical tool tip from a surgical image sequence in real-time. This algorithm can be adaptable to abrupt change of laparoscope illumination. For the control, we present virtual damper system to control a laparoscope manipulator safely and stably. This system causes the laparoscope to move under constraint of the virtual dampers which are linked to the four sides of image. The visual servoing unit operates the manipulator in real-time with locating the surgical tool in the center of image. The experimental results show that the proposed visual tracking algorithm is highly robust and the controlled manipulator can present stable view with safe.
