Occupants who recognize the approaching crash tend to brace themselves. This reflexive muscular activation can affect the kinematics and kinetics of occupant during the crash event but the mechanisms of potential muscle contraction in car crash event remains poorly understood. A quantitative investigation of muscular activation has been attempted by utilizing dynamometer, sled and EMG devices with human volunteers. The experimental findings have been incorporated into the numerical investigation by utilizing a finite element model of skeletal muscular structure of human body.

In cementless total hip arthroplasty(THA), an initial stability of the femoral component is mandatory to achieve bony inyowth and secondary long term fixation. Primary stability of the femoral component can be obtained by minimizing the magnitude of relative micromotions at bone stem interface. An accurate evaluation of interf'ace micromotion and stress/strain fields in the bone-implant system may be relevant for better understanding of clinical situations and improving THA design. Recently finite element method(FEM) was introduced in'orthopaedic research field due to its unique capacity to evaluate stress in structure of complex shape, loading and material behavior. The authors developed the 3-dimensional finite element model of proximal femur with $Multilock^{TM}$ stem of 1179 blick elements to analyse the micromotions and mechanical behaviors at the bone-stem inteface in early post-operative period for the load simulating single leg stance. The results indicates that the values of relative motion for this well fit stem were $150{\mu}m$ in maximum $82{\mu}m$ in minimum and the largest relative motion was developed in medial region of Proximal femur and in anterior-posterior direction. The motion in the proximal bone was much greater than in the distal bone and the stress pattern showed high stress concentration on the cortex near the tip of the stem. These findings indicate that the loading on the hip joint in the early postoperative situation before achieving bony ingrowth could produce large micromotion of $150{\mu}m$ and clinicaly non-cemented THA patient should not be allowed weight bearing strictly early in the postoperative period.

Crash analysis using computer simulation is the significantly economic method to save time and money as compared with sled test. But this analysis is able to make an interpretative problem different from reality by a few of unconsidered factors. So this study is to be able to analyze a more accurate car crash applying to air flow movement that had not been considered before. It is assumed that is different characteristics on condition and It is designed a system of impact experiment of car seat foam considering air flow movement within the foam and pre-strain. This system enables control of pre-strain using electro-magnetic impactor, determination of air flow movement within the foam using punching plate and flow control sensor. It is differ on condition of maximum impact load on the foam, a kind of cover of foam, quantity of pre-strain so as to figure out air flow movement by seat foam used back and cushion by vehicle type. As result, it is observed that maximum load by voltage of electro-magnetic impactor seems repetitiveness of replays on the experiment and that air flow movement from seat foam is belched symmetrically by holes’ position of punching plate. If it is verified additional study on characteristics of seat foam varied by different air flow movement from seat foam, it is able to analyze of car crash using computer simulation more like a reality.

An extensive real world in-depth crash accident data is needed to make a precise occupant injury risk prediction at crash accidents which might be a critical information from the scene of the accident in ACNS(Automatic Crash Notification System). However it is rather unfortunate that there is no such a domestic database unlike other leading countries. Therefore we propose a numerical method, i.e., crash simulation using a sled model to make a virtual database that can substitute car crash database in real world. The proposing crash injury risk prediction is validated against a limited domestic crash accident data.

The out-of-positioned small female drivers are most likely to be injured during airbag deployment due to their stature and proximity to the steering wheel and airdag module. In order to investigate the injury mechanisms, some experimental sludies with Hyhrid Ⅲ 5% female dummy and with female cadavers could be found from the open literatures. However, the given information from those experimental studies is quite limited to the standard conditions and might not be enough to estimate the airbag inflation aggressiveness regarding on the occupant responses and injury. In this study, a finite element analysis has been performed in order to investigate the airbag-induced injuries. A finite element 5% female human model in anatomical details has been developed. The validation results of the model are also introduced in this paper.

The estimation of occupant injury risk at crash accident is one of the most important assessments for the vehicle crashworthiness performance. The design of safety devices such as occupant restraining system also depend on the kinematics of occupant and its injury risk. The real world in-depth accident investigation provides detailed and realistic information of vehicle damage and occupant injury as well as the accident conditions. This paper introduces a statistical analysis of NASS/CDS database and domestic accident data to correlate speed change, vehicle damage extend, and occupant injury at frontal crash. The maximum crush extend shows a linear relationship with the effective impact speed. The injury risks of the occupant with and without restraining were also respectively quantified with the crush extend. This result can be effectively used for the emergent rescue of crash victims with automatic crash notification system.
