        1990년대 네덜란드 현대건축의 새로운 변화특성

천의영 한국문화공간건축학회 2012 한국문화공간건축학회논문집 Vol.- No.40

Contemporary Dutch architecture has attracted vast amount of attention from all over the world in recent architectural discourse. Especially, Rem Koolhaas from OMA, MVRDV, UN Studio, NOX, and Adriaan Geuze from WEST 8 are the architects and architectural groups at the center of so-called 'Dutch phenomenon' in the 1990s. They share some common denominators not only in their nationality, but also in their interest and the way they design architectural buildings, which is different from the traditional ones. Their architecture is focused more on the issues such as data, movements, diagrams, invisible forces mapping and re-programming, rather than the ones like scale, proportions and material tectonics, which were major concerns in traditional architecture. The new Dutch trends of research-based data-driven architecture and mapping-based diagram architecture, is now popular among young architects and students around the world, and has formed another main stream of architectural trend in contemporary architectural fields since 1990s.

      • 렘 콜하우스(Rem Koolhaas) 건축의 '차이의 원천'

천의영 경기대학교 건축대학원 2007 경기대학교 건축대학원 논문집 Vol.11 No.-

Rem Koolhaas has experimented a lot of different types a new architecture since last 20 years while defying to be categorized in a fixed domain. It is curious that the underlying philosophy, which Koolhaas was struggling to find out in contemporary architectural discourse. The the main purpose of this article is to look for the hidden thought of Koolhaas' idiosyncratic differences of his own architectural works. In history, Most of well-known artist and architects, such as Le Corbusier, Richard Meir, even Picasso were repeating and producing one's own established types. In case of Rem Koolhaas, regardless of his age and fame, he is still trying to avoid the typical image of famous star architect. Jeffrey Kipnis, architectural critic, mentioned that Tschumi and Koolhaas were famous group of architects who deal with statistic data and information of urban research and diagram in an article of Towards a New Architecture' at Architectural Design Magazine (AD 102). The urban research such as the books, 'Projects on the City 2', can reflect the changing contemporary society, which Koolhaas' architectural works are based on. Also Koolhaas's works are being influenced largely by the Gilles Deleuze's philosophy, In my opinion, the Deleuze's concept of 'Body without Organs(BwO)' and abstract machine was one of the most important motivation of Koolhaas' own architectural thought that encouraged him to have new virtuality of deterritorializing conventional architectural works. With the Deleuze's philosophical concepts and research data on contemporary cities, Koolhaas is continuously seeking for new architectural alternative solutions. Recently, Koolhaas is challenging with bold structural design works like Seattle Public Library, CCTV and Serpertine Gallery Pavillion in London, with help of Ove Arup's Cecil Balmond, the famous structural architect. It is taken for granted that the world keeps an eye on Koolhaas' next architectural experiments.

In order to verify the effects of the Self-management program, physical function and Quality of life as a dependent variable were measured at three points in time: before, week4 and week8 after the interventions. Result: There were significant increases on physical function (F=5.08, p=.002) and significant interaction effects (F=7.42, p=.002) in the intervention group over the three measurement points in time. In addition, there were significant increases on quality of life (F=8.08, p=.002) and significant interaction effects (F=4.89, p=.016) in the intervention group over the three measurement points in time. 산업 4.0과 광주폴리의 포용적 공공공간 플랫폼 구축 가능성

천의영 한국문화공간건축학회 2017 한국문화공간건축학회논문집 Vol.- No.60

As urban spaces have evolved since the first industrial revolution of late 18th century, architectural space has newly emerged from railway stations to suburban shopping malls and even to SEZ(special economic zone) beyond national boundaries. In the age of industry 4.0, it is popular to build up smart and shared spaces based on the super connectivity and super intelligence. While smart and shared spaces are being built, it is recommended to make more inclusive public space platform in the urban regeneration process. In this regard, creating small follies as creative platforms is a highly desirable work in urban regeneration context. By doing so, the unexpected encounters and latent creative forces can appear from these platforms. This was the reason that Gwangju Folly, urban follies in the city of Gwangju, was introduced in 2011. At the time, 11 urban follies were created. The 3rd Gwangju Folly has almost reached the end, following the 2nd Gwangju Folly of 2013, which has resulted in eight follies. The 3rd Gwangju Folly has taken on the theme of “the critique of everyday life” as a means to further develop the legacies of previous Gwangju Folly editions and to achieve more inclusive public space platform through innovative processes. Urban everydayness, as described by Henri Lefebvre, is where the abstract experience of the city and reality of daily life intersect. Throughout the 3rd Gwangju Folly, the social practice of producing a place as an inclusive public space platform was focused.

      • 예술이벤트와 뮤지엄 건축을 통한 도시 아이덴티티의 생성

천의영 경기대학교 건축대학원 2006 경기대학교 건축대학원 논문집 Vol.10 No.-

There are many ways to create identity of a city, which is in reality constantly changing through lots of factors involved with a city. The fact that art events and museum architecture projects can be vital driving forces to make an identity of a city can be found in the case studies, such as Venice Biennale, Kasell Documenta, Yokohama Triennale, Naoshima Contemporary Art Museum, Bilbao Guggenheim Museum, and Frankfurt Museum Banks projects. In summary, the identity of a city can be made through incessant time consuming efforts and also, without these efforts, a city can lose its competitiveness. Therefore, it is quite important to create an identity of a city with all means and make efforts not to lose its identity.
