Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the effects of Korean medicine treatment, including Onkyung-tang, on fibromyalgia. Methods: The patient was treated with herbal medicine, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and chuna manual therapy for 13 days. To evaluate the improvements, we used a numeric rating scale (NRS), the American College of Rheumatology Preliminary Diagnostic Criteria (ACR), the neck disability index (NDI), and the Oswestry disability index (ODI). Results: After treatment, the scores for the NRS, ACR, NDI, and ODI all decreased compared with baseline. Conclusion: This study suggests that Korean medicine treatment that includes Onkyung-tang can be effective in reducing pain and increasing ability to function in patients with fibromyalgia.

Objectives: This study reports the effects of Korean medical treatment, including the administration of Yanghyeolgeopung-tang, on tension headache. Case presentation: A 48-year-old man with headache and neck pain caused by tension-type headache was managed with Yanghyeolgeopung-tang, acupuncture, and pharmacopuncture for 15 days. To evaluate the improvements, a numeric rating scale (NRS), the Korean Headache Impact Test-6 (KHIT-6), and Neck Disability Index (NDI) were used. After treatment, the symptoms were relieved, and there were no particular side effects. The NRS scores reduced from 6 to 3, KHIT-6 from 64 to 48, and NDI from 46 to 22. Conclusion: These results suggest that Korean medicine may be effective for treating tension-type headache.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to report improvement of acute headache incurred in a traffic accident in five patients who underwent inpatient treatment with Korean medicine. Methods: We collected data for traffic accident patients with acute headache who were admitted to the Ja-Seng Hospital of Korean Medicine from November 2019 to April 2020 and received combinational Korean medical treatment. All patients had numerical rating scale (NRS) values of 6 or greater. The patients were treated with acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, herbal medicine, and chuna treatment. We measured the validity of the treatment with the NRS, Headache Impact Test-6 (HIT-6), and Henry Ford Headache Disability Inventory (HDI) at admission and on the date of hospital discharge. Results: At the end of the treatment, all patients showed decreases in NRS, HDI, and HIT scores. Conclusions: The combination of Korean medicine at admission was effective in five patients with acute headache after a traffic accident. However, the number of subjects was insufficient and individual efficacy was not measured in this study. Therefore, further studies are needed on this topic.

Objectives This survey study is designed to check the awareness and satisfaction of Korean herbal medicine in patients suffering from acute traffic accidents. Methods From May 1 to 20, 2020, patients who visited the hospital within 7 days after the accident and received prescription of Korean herbal medicine for the first-time symptoms were selected. Survey was conducted 10 days after the first visit to confirm the perception of Korean herbal medicine and expected to be used as a prior study to improve the quality of Korean medicine led by Korean herbal medicine. Results Most patients answered that they were aware of the prescribed Korean herbal medicine's dosage and treatment effects. 65% of the patients said they would like to receive other forms of prescription if possible. Most patients answered that portability is convenient and tastes better than normal. 48% of the respondents said that it was the first to time to take Korean herbal medicine, and 68% said that they were willing to take the Korean herbal medicine later. At the time of the first visit, the health condition assessed using EuroQol visual analogue scale (EQ-VAS) was 46.84, but 10 days after the treatment began, it increased significantly to 61.93. Conclusions The improvement of symptoms and high satisfaction with Korean medicine medical services contributed to the patient's willingness to visit the Korean medicine hospital again and to respond that they were willing to take further medication. EQ-VAS elevation suggests that overall patients' subjective health conditions have improved since treatment. (J Korean Med Rehabil 2020;30(4):165-178)
