All ship must equip oil content meter which satisfy Requirements of MARPOL 73/78. The research of this paper is to develop oil content measurement system using analysis of light transmission and scattering. Light transmission and scattering are two analytical methods commonly used in instrumentation for online measurement of oils in water. A major technical challenge for each method is to maintain quantitative accuracy in the presence of oil in water. Gasoline is experimented as a sample and the oil concentration ranged from 14 ppm to 600 ppm in this paper. Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) may be suitable to associate variously derived spectral signals with specific concentrations of oils having various interfering factors. Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is used to classify oil concentration. And multiple regression modeling is used to fix a standard oil concentration. Those measurement methods would be effectively applied to oil discharge monitoring control equipment and oil refinery industry.
