이 연구는 염화칼슘이 스트로브잣나무(Pinus strobus)의 생장 및 생리반응에 미치는 영향과 그 중 염화칼슘에 민감하게 반응하는 변수를 알아보고자 실시되었다. 이를 위해 염화칼슘에 처리에 대한 스트로브잣나무의 가시적 피해, 근원경 생장, 식물체 내 수분함수량, 엽록소함량과 구성, 광계 II의 최대 활성, 전자전달율의 변화를 분석하였다. 염화칼슘 처리는 개엽하기 전에 염화칼슘 0.5, 1.0, 3.0% 수용액을 근권부에 관수하였다. 염화칼슘 처리에 의한 가시적 피해로 잎의 갈변과 탈락, 잎 마름이 나타났으며, 이러한 피해 양상은 염화칼슘 농도가 높고, 처리 기간이 길어질수록 가중되어 나타났다. 근원경(밑둥지름) 생장량 그리고 잎의 수분함수량의 감소는 염화칼슘 1.0%와 3.0% 처리에서 유의하게 나타났다. 광색소인 총엽록소함량, 광계 II의 최대 활성, 전자전달율은 염화칼슘 3.0% 처리에서 대조구 대비 유의한 감소를 보였다. 결론적으로 염화칼슘 처리는 엽 내 수분상태에 영향을 주었고, 광수확 능력과 광화학반응 능력의 감소를 초래하였다. 또한, 염화칼슘 농도와 생장 및 생리반응 변수들 간의 상호 연관성을 분석한 결과, 잎의 수분함수량과 엽록소 a와 b의 비율의 회귀식 결정계수가 상대적으로 높아, 스트로브잣나무의 염화칼슘 피해 수준에 민감하게 반응하는 변수로 나타났다. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of calcium chloride($CaCl_2$) on the growth and physiological responses of Pinus strobus and the variables that are sensitive to $CaCl_2$. Thus, changes in the visible damage, growth of root collar diameter, plant water content, chlorophyll content and composition, maximum PS II photochemical efficiency, and electron transport rate of P. strobus was analyzed in relation to treatment witih $CaCl_2$. A $CaCl_2$ solution(0.5, 1.0 and 3.0%) was applied in the root zone before leaf unfolding. Leaf browning, defoliation, and drying were observed with $CaCl_2$ application and this pattern was aggravated as the $CaCl_2$ concentration increased and the treatment period became longer. The decrease of growth in root collar diameter and height and leaf water content were observed at $CaCl_2$ 1.0% and 3.0%. The total chlorophyll content indicated that photopigment, PS II photochemical efficiency and electron transport rate significantly decreased at $CaCl_2$ 3.0%. In conclusion, $CaCl_2$ affected leaf water content and led to a decrease of capability in light harvesting and photochemical responses. Also, as a result of the correlation between calcium chloride concentration and growth and physiological response parameters, it was found that the leaf moisture content and the ratio of chlorophyll a and b reflect the damage level of calcium chloride sensitively because their coefficient of determinations were relatively high.

For the development of new anticonvulsive agents, a series of GABAmimetics derivatives was prepared as dual action prodrugs and evaluated for their anticonvulsive activities. Com-pound 20 showed the most potent anticonvulsive activity in the prepared compounds.

Recognizing the importance of output and noticing in the second language acquisition, the present study investigated whether model writings and noticing-triggering activities can serve as one form of written feedback to learners’ writing. Particularly, it was interested in whether two different noticing-triggering activities would have different effects on learners’ noticing and incorporation in immediate and delayed revisions. To this end, 93 university students in three English composition classes in Busan were asked to take part in four-staged picture-cued narrative writing task (i.e., drafting, comparison, immediate revision, and delayed revision). The three classes engaged in different activities (i.e., note-taking, underlining, or reading) while they were comparing their own writing and the given models. The results indicated that models as written feedback have led learners to notice linguistic forms that they have previously found problematic or have not thought of as problematic. Furthermore, the note-taking activity in the comparison stage seemed to help learners better incorporate the linguistic forms included in the subsequent input.
양돈폐수 처리에 의한 포플러클론의 산화스트레스와 항산화반응

We studied the influence of livestock waste leachate on oxidative damage and antioxidative responses in poplar clones in August which increase the demand of antioxidants because of high temperature and high light during this period. We measured ion leakage, antioxidant enzyme activities (APX, GR), and carotenoid contents. Oxidative damage and antioxidative responses by treated livestock waste leachate in poplar clones showed various results. We divided poplar clones into three groups using the criteria based on ion leakage which represent cell damage induced oxidative stress. Eco 28, 62-10, Bonghwa1 and Dorskamp belonged to the first group in which the cell damaged level was lower than that of the control. The results suggest that this group augmented for demand of antioxidative in summer because high concentration of nitrogen induced by treatment of live stock wastes acted as environmental stress. Consequently, they failed to keep up the homeostasis of reactive oxygen species. The second group in which the cell damaged level was similar to that of the control was Suwon, 72-30 and 72-31 clones. Finally, 97-18 clone belonged to the third group in which the cell damaged level was lower than that of the control group. In this case, nitrogen treated by livestock waste leakage decreased oxidative stress. 97-18 clone was the clones with the least damage in summer oxidative stresses treated by livestock waste leakage. These results suggest that the high concentration nitrogen due to the livestock waste leakage can act differently upon the clones. We speculate that the added oxidation damage in the summer (growing season) may have an effect on the total fresh weight and also influence the purification ability for livestock waste leakage. However, further studies are needed for the confirmation.
활자적 입력강화와 명시적 지시 및 주제 친숙도가 영어 수동태 학습 및 지문이해에 미치는 영향

This study sought to investigate the effects of typological input enhancement, explicit instruction, and topic familiarity on Korean college students’ learning of the passive form and reading comprehension. To this end, six classes of 157 Korean EFL college students were assigned to six groups. They were first asked to take a pretest, and were given two-stage treatments. The first stage was concerned with two-hour topic familiarity training provided for half of the six groups. The second stage involved two input enhancement treatment sessions. After each of the input enhancement treatment session, a written recall task was conducted in order to see what the participants could recall from the reading. Following all treatments, the experimental groups completed a form recognition posttest. The findings showed that the groups provided with enhanced texts with explicit instruction received significantly higher scores on the form recognition posttest, whereas topic familiarity training had no significant effect on learners’ processing of grammatical forms. Furthermore, the results of the free recall task showed that regardless of explicit instruction, the students with the enhanced texts outperformed those with the unenhanced texts on reading comprehension. Theoretical and pedagogical implications are discussed.
