The focus of this paper is on the design and development of a generation of thermal energy harvesting systems that could make electrical energy from the low temperature wasted heat environment. Conventional thermoelectric devices to harvest low-temperature heat are limited due to low ZT for small temperature difference. In contrast, the proposed approach of pairing magneto-thermoelectric generator technology to triboelectric effect will provide high potential for efficient power harvesting from low-temperature waste heat generated in such as human skin. Experiments on fabricated prototype devices are conducted to measure the fundamental power properties with temperature differences as small as 5 degree Celsius. The results successfully demonstrate feasibility of efficient low-temperature energy harvesting.

In this paper, an entirely new approach for thermal energy harvesting is developed by paring triboelectric effect to magneto-thermoelectric generator. The magneto-thermo-triboelectric generator(MTTG) proposed can provide costeffective thermal energy conversion of low grade thermal energy to electrical energy. Its design is based on the concept of triboelectric effect and active ferromagnetic materials with second order phase transition. Increasing the interface contact area of triboelectric layers can raise the efficiency of triboelectric conversion. We characterize the interface contact pressure properties of the developed device. We also demonstrate an example of tunable design for enhanced device with the improved interface contact pressure.

Petroleum-degrading bacteria were enumerated from the coastal water near Samcheonpo City and Cheonsu Bay with the Most-Probable-Number method. Number of petroleum-degrading bacteria fluctuated from 2.0×10 exp (2) to 1.1×10 exp (5) cells/litre in the coastal water near Samcheonpo City, and 3.6×10 exp (1) to 1.1×10 exp (4) cells/litre in Cheonsu Bay. The proportions of petroleum-degrading bacteria to total viable counts were in the range of 2.1% to 0.00012%. In both study areas, ratio of petroleum-degrading bacteria at autumn showed the maximal value. Enterobacteriaceae, Vibrio, Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Flavobacterium, Acinetobacter, Micrococcus, Aerococcus and Aeromonas were isolated. Enterobacteriaceae, Vibrio and Pseudomonas were found dominantly. The observed results may be provided for understanding the level of potentiality of microbial petroleum-degradation in the research area.
