In this paper, the distance measuring algorithm employing stereo color video cameras capturing the color markers attached on the articulations of an actor is implemented. The color region which is the same color of the marker's in the captured images are separated from the other colors by finding the dominant wavelength of colors. The color data in the RGB color space is converted into the CIE color space for the purpose of calculating wavelength. The dominant wavelength is selected from the histogram of the neighbor wavelengths. The distance from the camera to the markers is calculated to animate the character, called avatar.

The purpose of virtual reality research is to develop a virtual reality system which enables to actually experience the virtual reality through the visual sense of human. In this paper, a method of extracting camera motion parameters from any moving pictures is proposed. The motion parameters of camera are obtained from motion vectors of moving pictures. The BMA(Block Matching Algorithm) is utilized to find the motion vectors. It is possible to calculate multiple motion vectors from moving picture, and then camera's motion parameters is obtained by utilizing the relationship between the motion vectors.

The speech synthesis system generating the speech sounds from the home pages is described. The speech synthesis plug-in is activated when the netscape finds the audio/x-esp MIME data type embeded in the browsed web page in the first step. The next step is that the HTML file referenced in the EMBED HTML tag is down loaded from the referenced URL to be sent to the commander object located in the said plug-in. The speech synthesis engine control tags and the text characters are extracted from the down loaded HTML document by the commander object. The synthesized speech sounds are generated by the speech synthesis engine. The speech synthesis engine interprets the command streams from the commander objects to call the member functions for the processing of the speech segment data in the data banks. To enhance the flexibility and the portability, the commander object and the speech synthesis engine are designed as an independent object.

In this paper a new detection method of optical flow is proposed. Provided that optical flow gives reliable approximation to two-dimensional image motion, it can be used to recover the three-dimensional motion, but usually to get the reliable optical flows are difficult. The Horn's algorithm for detecting initial optical flow is used, then Thin Plate Spline is introduced to warp a image frame according to the initial optical flow and the optical flow for the warped image frame is again calculated to warp the image frame until mean square error between two image sequence frames is lowered. The proposed method is applied for the synthetic image frames and natural moving pictures. The proposed algorithm gives dense optical flow vectors.

본 논문은 컴퓨터에 입력된 문자정보를 음성정보로 변환하기 위한 음성합성엔진에 관한 것이며, 특히 명료성의 향상을 위해 파형처리 음성합성방식을 이용한다. 음성합성엔진은 컴맨드 스트림의 제어에 따라 자연성의 향상을 위한 피치조절, 길이 및 에너지 등을 제어하며 음성합성단위로서 반음절을 사용한다. 엔진에서 사용 가능한 컴맨드를 프로그램하여 음성합성엔진에 입력함으로서 음성을 합성하는 빙식은 구문분석, 어휘분석 등의 하이레벨과 파형의 편집 가공 등의 로우레벨을 완전 분리하므로 시스템의 융통성과 확장성을 높인다. 또한 TTS시스템의 적용에 있어 각 모듈을 객체/컴포넌트(Object/Component)로 각 모듈이 상호 독립적으로 작동되도록 하여 쉽게 대체가 가능하다. 하이 레벨과 로우 레벨을 분리하는 소프트웨어 아키택처는 음성합성 연구에 있어 각각 여러 분야별로 독립적으로 연구수행이 가능하여 연구의 효율성을 높이며 여러 소프트웨어의 조합사용(Mix-and-Match)이 가능하여 확장성과 이식성을 향상시킨다. This paper presents the speech synthesis engine that converts the character strings kept in a computer memory into the synthesized speech sounds with enhancing the intelligibility and the naturalness by adapting the waveform processing method. The speech engine using demisyllable speech segments receives command streams for pitch modification, duration and energy control. The command based engine isolates the high level processing of text normalization, letter-to-sound and the lexical analysis and the low level processing of signal filtering and pitch processing. The TTS(Text-to-Speech) system implemented by using the speech synthesis engine has three independent object modules of the Text-Normalizer, the Commander and the said Speech Synthesis Engine those of which are easily replaced by other compatible modules. The architecture separating the high level and the low level processing has the advantage of the expandibility and the portability because of the mix-and-match nature.

In this paper, the color matching algorithm is proposed for stitching machine. The RGB color coordinate on the image file designed by an artist is converted into CIE color coordinate in order to find the available nearest embroidery color thread. The multiple candidates owing to have the equal distance in the CIE space are further processed to find nearest dominant color frequency. The color dithering method will be useful for reproducing original design with high fidelity.
