        정상 및 원추각막에서 각막 전, 후면의 융기 및 시상면만곡도의 비교분석

        Purpose: To compare changes of anterior and posterior corneal elevation, and sagittal curvature according to the severity of keratoconus and to compare differences between keratoconus and normal cornea. Methods: A total of 81 eyes diagnosed with keratoconus and 20 eyes of normal subjects were evaluated with a Pentacam Scheimpflug camera. The keratoconus eyes were divided into 3 groups according to mean keratometer (K): mild (K ≤ 47.0 diopters (D)), moderate (47.0 to 52.0 D), and severe (52.0 D≥). The following parameters were obtained to evaluate the correlation of keratoconus: corneal thickness, anterior and posterior corneal elevation, and sagittal curvature. Results: Out of 81 keratoconus eyes, 56 eyes were mild, 12 eyes were moderate, and 13 eyes were severe keratoconus. The mean central corneal keratometer, anterior and posterior corneal elevation, and sagittal curvature of the keratoconus eyes were 49.7 D, 22.07 μm, 38.16 μm, 52.76 D and the values increased statistically compared to the normal eyes. Furthermore, the values increased significantly with the severity of keratoconus. ROC curve analysis showed the estimated meaningful value for anterior and posterior corneal elevation and sagittal curvature of keratoconus for diagnosis; there were no diagnostic values for corneal thickness and refractive power. Conclusions: The index of 5.5 μm for mean anterior elevation, 12.5 μm for mean posterior elevation, and 44.5 μm for mean sagittal curvature using the PentacamⓇ are useful to diagnose keratoconus. Variation of anterior and posterior elevation, and sagittal curvature measured by PentacamⓇ are useful in understanding the process of keratoconus. J Korean Ophthalmol Soc 2012;53(10):1432-1437

        익상편조직의 섬유모세포에 미치는 사이클로스포린의 영향

        Purpose: To evaluate the response and cellular damage of cultured human pterygial cells according to the concentration and exposure time of topical cyclosporin. Methods: Human pterygial cells were exposed to a cyclosporin A concentrations of 0.1 μg/ml (0.0001%), 1 μg/ml (0.0001%), 10 μg/ml (0.001%), 100 μg/ml (0.01%), or 500 μg/ml (0.05%) for 5 or 10 minutes. An MTT-based colorimetric assay was performed to assess the metabolic activity of cellular proliferation, and a lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) leakage assay was used to determine cellular damage. The extra-cellular matrix of PIP, laminin and MMP were evaluated, and the measurement of pro-inflammatory cytokine, TNF-α and IL-1b. IL-6, IL-8 was performed using ELISA kits. Results: The pterygial cellular inhibitory effect of cyclosporin was similar to that of the control according to the concentration and exposure time (p > 0.05). Compared with the control, the level of LDH did not show a statistically significant difference between concentration and exposure time (p > 0.05). There was no significant difference of inhibitory effects by PIP, laminin, or MMP between the experimental and control groups (p > 0.05). The production of TNF-α and IL from the experimental pterygial cells due to the effect of cyclosporin was not significantly different from that of the control at a longer exposure time or stronger concentration (p > 0.05). Conclusions: The response of pterygial cells to topical cyclosporin A at concentrations less than 0.05% for less than 10 minutes of exposure time showed no prevention of pterygial recurrence. With regard to cellular damage, little effects on inhibition of PIP, laminin, MMP, IL, and TNF-α were observed compared with that of the control. J Korean Ophthalmol Soc 2012;53(3):466-472

      • 유두체가 손상된 횐쥐 암컷의 난소와 자궁 무게

        흰쥐 암컷 29 마리를 세 무리로 나누어 한 무리에서는 유두체에 둔 전극을 거쳐 직류전류를 흘림으로써 유두체를 파괴하였으며 (유두체군), 다른 한 무리에서는 모든 조작을 유두체군에서와 마찬가지로 시행하였으나 전류는 흘리지 않았고 (수술대조군), 나머지 한 무리는 정상대조군으로 삼았다. 수술이 끝난 한 달후 세무리의 난소와 자궁을 떼어 조사하였으나 위축된 모습을 나타낸 개체는 없었으며, 유두체군, 수술대조군 및 정상대조군 사이에 난소와 자궁의 무게에 있어서 유의한 차이가 없었다. 그러므로 유두체가 여성의 성선자극 호르몬 생산에 관여한다는 증거는 찾을 수 없었다. In order to see whether the mamillary bodies participate in the control of female gonadotrophic function, 12 female rats in which the mamillary bodies were damaged by passing 0.3 ma direct cur-rent through stereotaxically implanted electrodes, 8 rats which received the same treatment except passage of current, and 9 normal rats were prepared. One month after the operation, all animals were sacrificed and their brain lesions checked histologically, their ovaries and uteri examined and weighed. The ovaries and uteri showed neither atrophic changes in any animal, nor significant differences in the weight among the 3 groups. Thus the results do not support the idea that the mamillary bo-dies are implicated in the control of female gonadotrophic function.

      • 화침을 이용한 흉요추부 압박골절 치험 1례

        Stable compression fractures are most often caused by trauma as traffic accidents. Stable compression fractures can refer pain to the mid-back, which is characterized by the pain in the thoracolumbar spinous prosess. recently we experienced a 19 years old man who had lumbago originating from Stable compression fractures and condition was improved through burning acupunture. 흉요추 이행부의 안정성 압박골절은 통증의 소실과 후만각 증가 억제에 의한 척추의 안정화이다. 이의 원인을 후방인대의 손상에 의한 손상으로 보고 프로로테라피(Prolotherapy)로 이의 치료를 시행 할 수 있다고 생각되며 한방적인 방법으로 화침을 적용할 수 있었다. 최근 저자는 흉요추 이행부의 안정성 압박골절에 의한 요배통 환자를 발견하고 화침치료를 통해 증세 회복에 도움이 되었기에 치료내용과 경과를 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.

      • Neisseria lactamica 2118의 $\beta$-galactosidase 유전자의 대장균으로의 클로닝

        Neisseria lactamica 2118 의 $\beta$-galactosidase 유전자를 Southern Hybridization 과 colony hybridization을 통하여 Escherichia coli MC 1061에 클로닝 시켰다. $\beta$-Galactosidase 유전자를 함유하는 6.5 Kb EcoR I 단편과 7.2 Kb BamH I 단편들을 pMC 1871의 lac Z 유전자를 probe로 한 Southern hybridization으로 얻고 이들을 pBR 322에 삽입한후 Escherichia coli MC 1061에 형질전환 시키고 이들 형질전환체들을 동일 probe로 colony hybridization 시켜 최종적으로 3주의 $\beta$-galactosidase positive clone들을 얻었다. 이들의 재조합 plasmid에는 Neisseria lactomica 2118 염색체 DNA의 약 7.2Kb BamH I 단편이 삽입되어 있음을 확인 하였고 probe와 상동성이 가장 강한것으로 추정되는 pNL 24에 대한 제한효소지도를 작성 하였다. The gene coding for $\beta$-galactosidase of Neisseria lactamica 2118 was cloned into Escherichia coli MC 1061. The isolated 6.5 Kb EcoR I fragement and 7.2 Kb BamH I fragment of chromosomal DNA in Southern hybridization were ligated to a vector plasmid pBR322 and then transformed into Escherichia coli MC 1061 cells. Finally, I obtained three clones as $\beta$-galactosidase positive clone by colony hybridization and Southern hybridization($\beta$-galactosidase probe: lac Z gene of pMC1871). Three recombinant plasmids(pNL.13. 17 and 24) were found to contain the 7.2Kb BamH I fragment originated from Neisseria lactamica 2118 chromosomal DNA by Southern hybridization and pNL 24 was showed high homology to probe especially and also its physical map was constructed.

        Anisotropic Magnetization and Charge Density Wave in a Na0.78CoO2 Single Crystal

        Single crystals of γ-Na0.78CoO2 were grown using the floating zone method. The static magnetic susceptibility M/H(T) of Na0.78CoO2 showed significant anisotropic behavior for different crystal orientations of H ∥ (ab) and H ∥ (c). While (M/H)ab(T) for a magnetic field H= 1 T in an ab-plane followed the Curie-Weiss law at high temperatures (T ≥ 100 K), (M/H)c(T) for H ∥ c-axis deviated from Curie-Weiss behavior, which may be understood by using phonon localization from strong electron-phonon coupling. The impurity spin-1/2 effect, dressed by spin fluctuation, was significant at low temperatures (T ≤ 30 K) for both field orientations of H ∥ (ab) and H ∥ (c). The electrical resistivity ρ(T) of Na0.78CoO2 showed a clear metallic character down to 16 K, with a weak increase in the resistivity ρ(T) at low temperatures T ≤ 16 K). The gap-like behavior of ρ(T) was insensitive to applied magnetic fields up to 7 T, which indicates a non-degenerate charge gap. The electrical conductivity σ(T) followed the density wave behavior with a small energy gap (0.64 meV) at low temperatures. We discussed the electrical resistivity ρ(T)$ and the anisotropic M/H(T) behavior of Na0.78CoO2 in terms of the charge density wave and a strong electron-phonon interaction.         일본의 높은 과학기술수준은 명치유신(1868년) 이후 배출된 많은 지도자들의 열정과 공헌에 따른 것이다. 93세로 세상을 떠날 때까지 일본원자력산업회의 회장으로 활약한 아리자와 히로미 박사는 일본에서 가장 존경받는 과학기술계 지도자였다. 그의 후계자인 무카이보 다카시, 금속물리학자 가야 세이지, 외무부대신을 지낸 나카야마 타로 박사 등 많은 지도자들이 일본의 과학기술을 이끌어 가고 있는 것이다.
