Explanatory Factors for the Uneven Implementation of Charter School Policy

Charter schools are regarded as the fastest growing and most impressive innovative institution in public education in Colorado. However, a charter school policy has been unevenly implemented across Colorado school districts. This study aims to clarify what conditions lead to this uneven implementation. To examine the efforts of Colorado school districts to innovate within the conventional public school system, it analyzes several hypotheses based on the diffusion model and socioeconomic factors with an ordinary least squares regression model. Statistical analysis demonstrates that three predictor variables—diffusion, educational level, and alternative innovation—positively influence the social phenomenon that each Colorado school district shows different efforts in the implementation of charter school policy. Among them, the number of alternative schools is the strongest regressor, and the existence of neighboring school districts with charter schools is the second strongest regressor that exerts powerful effects to account for the wide variance in the implementation of Colorado school districts’ charter school policy.

본 연구는 어성초의 물 추출물을 이용해서 카드뮴의 독성에 대한 해독 경감효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 그 결과는 어성초 물 추출물의 투여 용량이 증가할 수록 흰쥐 신장과 간장에서 카드뮴에 대한 해독효과도 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 어성초 물 추출물의 투여 용량이 40㎎/㎏에서 흰쥐 신장과 간장에서 카드뮴에 대한 해독 경감효과가 우수하게 나타났으며, 간장에서 카드뮴에 대한 해독 경감효과 우수하게 나타났다. 흰쥐 체중은 어성초 물 추출물의 투여용량이 증가할수록 체중도 증가 하였지만 3주 이후에는 체중의 증가의 변화는 크지 않았다. 이 결과를 볼 때 어성초 물 추출물이 흰쥐 장기내 카드뮴에 대한 해독 경감효과가 나타났다. This study was conducted to investigate the antitoxic component in aqueous extract of Houttuynia cordata T_HUNB. The results were as follows: Generally, detoxication effects by Houttuynia cordata T_HUNB extract was administered, it showed the highest antitoxic effects against the toxicity of cadmium in liver. After the extract treatment. Body weights increased in proportion to the extract concentration. However, after 3 weeks, the body weight decreased insignificantly. From the above results, Houttuynia cordata T_HUNB extract increased Metallothinnein concentration and decreased toxicity of cadmium in rats.

The Waste Land has been read from different approaches and in diverse ways. The body of criticism on this poem from a psychoanalytic viewpoint, however, is not as copious as that of other approaches. One reason why there is very scanty body of criticism on this poem from a psychoanalytic approach is that Eliot himself has evinced a strong aversion to psychoanalysis. In my opinion, the fact that Eliot himself did not like psychoanalysis will be the stronger reason for us to read it form such an approach. Jacques Lacan's psychoanalytic theory, however, can be a great help in reading The Waste Land in this respect, because Lacanian approach emphasizes the linguistic aspect of the unconscious. The Waste Land is very amenable to the Lacanian psychoanalysis because Lacan basically considers e unconscious to be structured like a language. The poem demonstrates that it is a text of the linguistic unconscious from the beginning by its two quotations-one of the sybil, and the other for Ezra Pound. These two quotations show that the unconscious of the poem is situated at the locus of the conflict between the imaginary and the symbolic. Many gaps in the poem itself prove that this assumption is not far from the truth.

Spectroscopy characterizes the optical response of a sample to different wavelengths by measuring the transmitted or reflected from the sample surface. Visible spectrometers, which measure the visible light spectrum, are useful in various fields such as chemistry and environmental science for analyzing the absorption and scattering of small particles or molecules in specimens. Portable visible spectrometers allow us to measure the visible spectrum outside the laboratory and to analyze the data through on-site measurements. In this work, we present the design and the implementation of a portable visible spectrometer with Raspberry Pi. We design the integrated control system with Raspberry Pi and implement the system at low cost using energy-efficient hardware and software. By examining the transmission measurement, we demonstrate the reliable performance of our spectrometer compared to conventional UV-Visible spectrometers. We expect this work to be useful for building low-cost and energy-efficient sensor systems such as real-time environmental monitoring devices, for on-site tests. 분광분석법은 시료의 표면에서 반사되거나 투과된 빛의 세기를 파장에 따라 측정하고 이를 분석하여시료의 특성을 규명하는 분석법이다. 가시광 분광광도계는 가시광 파장대역에서 분광분석을 수행하며, 다양한 화학 및 환경 분석 분야에서 활용되고 있다. 휴대용 분광광도계는 이러한 분석을 실험실 외부에서수행 가능하게 하여 시료를 채취한 현장에서 바로 분석할 수 있도록 한다. 본 연구는 라즈베리 파이(Raspberry Pi) 기반 휴대용 가시광 분광광도계 제작에 대하여 다룬다. 분광광도계의 통합 제어를 위한라즈베리 파이 기반의 하드웨어 및 소프트웨어 구성을 소개하고, 제작된 장비의 분광분석 특성평가를보인다. 이 연구결과는 현장 설치형 실시간 환경모니터링 등 다양한 분야에서 활용 가능할 것으로 기대된다.
