        In the ship fire, the initial fire extinguishing is very important because evacuation space is limited. Large ships are equipped with various extinguishing devices such as portable and fixed extinguishing equipment. The CO2 extinguishing equipment which lowers the oxygen density is one of the devices used in the ship fires. In actually, when a lot of fires occur in the engine room of a ship, a CO2 extinguishing system is often used to extinguish the fire. However, there is a space in the ship that can not be sealed in a large space such as a cargo storage compartment. The fire often occur in cargo compartments. In general, it is understood that CO2 extinguishing must be used in sealed spaces to be effective. Almost studies on the effectiveness of CO2 extinguishing systems for ship fires have been conducted only in a completely closed system such as an engine room. At present, studies on the effectiveness of CO2 extinguishing when there is no closed system has been insufficient. If the initial suppression of the fire is not successful, the combustion will increase, making it difficult to identify the exact cause of the fire. It is important to identify the cause of all fires, but especially for ship fires, it is very important to extinguish the fire early in order to identify the cause of fire. Therefore, in this paper, we analyzed the factors affecting CO2 extinguishing in an unsealed space based on the case of ship fire and investigated the effectiveness of CO2 extinguishing by approximating actual fire cases.

        감두약침액의 암세포 성장 저해 효과

        Gamdutang aqua-acupuncture solution (GAS), Gamdutang water-extracted solution (GWS) and Dae-Gamdutang aqua-acupuncture solution (DGAS) were prepared and tested for antitumor activities. It was shown to possess considerable toxicity toward various tumor cell lines. Concentration of 5 $\times$ and 10$\times$ of GAS resulted in more than 70% inhibition of growth in Ehrlich ascites tumor cells (EATC), Hepa1c1c7 and A549. GAS at concentrations of 5$\times$ and 10$\times$ revealed more than 60% inhibition in HeLa. GWS showed more than 50% inhibition of growth with EATC and HeLa at concentrations of 5$\times$ and 10$\times$, respectively. Toxicity assay with GWS in Hepa1c1c7 and A549 revealed that more than 80% inhibition of growth at the concentration of 5$\times$ and 10$\times$. In morphological study, the number of cells were decreased, and the shape of cells was round-form in EATC, Hepa1c1c7, A549, HeLa with GAS.

        시호 약침제제가 생쥐의 면역활성에 미치는 영향

        In order to investigate the effects of Bupleuri Radix aqua-acupuncture solution (BRAS) on immuno suppression induced by glucocorticoid, ICR mice were administrated with glucocorticoid (80 mg/kg) for 7 days, and immunized with hapten, methamphetamine-horseradish peroxidase $(10\;{\mu}g/mouse)$. And then, BRAS (0.2ml/mouse) injected into $CV_4\;and\;BL_{23}$, which are the classical acupuncture points in traditional medicine, for 7 days. And then B and T cells proliferation and cytolytic activity of natural killer (NK) cells were measured. Intraperitoneal injection of glucocorticoid decreased lysozyme activity in macrophage and cytolytic activity of NK cell. B and T cell proliferation were significantly increased in aqua-acupuncture group compared to normal group. On the other hand, BRAS significantly increased the lysozyme activity in macrophage, and the cytolytic activity of purified NK cell on K562. These results suggest that BRAS at $CV_4\;and\;BL_{23}$ may proliferate B and T cells that are suppressed by glucocorticoid and activate NK cell activity.

        감두약침액의 암예방 효과

        한방에서 염증, 종양 억제 등에 사용되는 감초와 흑소두, 감초와 흑대두를 정량으로 배합하여 조제한 약침액을 이용하여 암 억제효과를 살펴 보았다. 발암물질을 무독화 시키는 QR 생성 유도를 생쥐의 간암세포인 Hepa1c1c7과 rat의 간세포 Ac2F에서 측정하였으며, 그 결과 감두약침액, 열수추출액을 처리한 Hepa1c1c7 세포에서 감두약침액과 열수 추출액에 의한 GSH 생성이 증가하였고, GST활성측정에 의하면 Hepac1c7 세포에서 감두약침액에 의한 GST 생성이 증가하였다, 농도별 감두약침액과 역수추출액에 의한 A. castellanii 증식을 살펴 본 결과, 약침수액과 열수추출액이 A. castellanii 증식을 농도 의존적으로 저해하는 효과가 있었다. Gamdutang aqua-acupuncture solution (GAS), Gamdutang water-extracted solution (GWS) and Dae-Gamdutang aqua-acupuncture solution (DGAS) were prepared and tested for chemopreventive potentials. GAS was potent inducer of quinone reductase (QR) activity in Heapa1c1c7 murine hepatoma cells in culture, whereas GWS is less potent. GAS, GWS and DGAS were significantly induced QR activity in cultured rat normal liver cell, Ac2F. Glutathione (GSH) levels were increased about 1.8, 1.0 and 1.1 fold with GAS, GWS and DGAS in Hepa1c1c7 cells, respectively. In addition glutathione S-transferase (GST) activity was increased with GAS, GWS and DGAS. The effects of GAS, GWS and DGAS on the growth of Acanthamoeba castellanii were tested. Proliferation of A. castellanii was inhibited by GAS, GWS and DGAS at concentrations of 1 $\times$ and 5$\times$. These results suggest that GAS has chemopreventive potential by inducing QR and GST activities, increasing GSH levels and inhibition of polyamine metabolism.
