산양유의 체세포수는 측정방법에 따라 많은 차이가 보고되고 있으나 국제적인 표준방법으로 pyronin Y-methyl green stain에 의한 직접현미경법이 사용되고 있다. 8개 목장 총 48개 시료를 pyronin Y-methyl green stain에 의한 직접검경법, 국립축산과학원에서 보유중인 ADAM-SCC, 충청북도 축산위생연구소에서 보유중인 Somacount 500으로 측정하여 결과를 비교하였다. Pyronin Y-methyl green stain 측정시 전체 평균은 $7.3{\times}10^5$ cells/mL인 반면 ADAMSCC와 Somacaount 500은 각각 $4.9{\times}10^5$과 $11.6{\times}10^5$ cells/mL로 나타나 과소 또는 과대평가되는 결과를 보였다. 직접현미경법과 ADAM-SCC또는 Somacaount 500과의 상관계수는 각각 0.0332 또는 0.2285로 매우 낮으며 장비간의 상관계수도 0.1552로 매우 낮게 나타났다. 산양유의 체세 포수 저감을 위해서는 측정장비의 개발이 필요하며 장비를 표준화하기 위한 표준측정법으로 pyronin Y-methyl green stain의 채택이 필요하다.
한계상태식의 3차 다항식 근사를 통한 구조물 신뢰도 평가

본 논문에서는 불확실성을 확률변수로 가정하고 구조물의 파손기준을 한계상태식(Limit State Equation)으로 정의하였다. 한계상태식을 Fleishman의 3차 다항식으로 근사하고 이론적인 확률 모멘트(Moments)를 계산하였다. Fleishman은 표준정규 분포 확률변수에 대해서만 3차 다항식을 제시하였으나, 본 논문에서는 이를 확장하여 베타, 감마, 균일 분포 등 다양한 확률 변수에 적용하였다. 확률 모멘트를 계산하기 위해서 누률(Cumulants)과 정규화된 한계상태식을 활용하였으며, 피어슨 시스템(Pearson System)을 통해 한계상태식의 확률분포를 근사하였다. In this paper, uncertainties and failure criteria of structure are mathematically expressed by random variables and a limit state equation. A limit state equation is approximated by Fleishman's 3rd order polynomials and the theoretical moments of an approximated limit state equation are calculated. Fleishman introduced a 3rd order polynomial in terms of only standard normal distiribution random variables. But, in this paper, Fleishman's polynomial is extended to various random variables including beta, gamma, uniform distributions. Cumulants and a normalized limit state equation are used to calculate a theoretical moments of a limit state equation. A cumulative distribution function of a normalized limit state equation is approximated by a Pearson system.

큰머리톱가슴긴고목벌레[Mimemodes cribratus (Reitter)] (신칭)을 국내에서 처음으로 보고하고, 한국산 톱가슴긴고목벌레과의 종 분류 검색표 및 본 종의 기재문과 식별형질에 대한 사진을 제공한다. Mimemodes cribratus (Reitter) is newly recognized from Korea. The present study includes a redescription, images of habitus and diagnostic characters of the species. In addition, a key to Korean species of Monotomidae is provided.
김치에서 분리한 Lactobacillus plantarum LHC52의 항균활성과 요구르트의 관능성 연구

The aim of our study was to develop a new starter culture for fermented milk. Polymerase chain reaction screening of 103 acid-producing isolates from Kimchi identified 72 Lactobacillus strains. The ability of the strains to inhibit the growth of the food-borne human pathogens (Escherichia coli, Salmonella Enteritidis, Staphylococcus aureus) was measured, using a conventional paper disk method. Among the 72 strains, strain LHC52 displayed potent antagonistic activity. Use of 16S rDNA sequencing and the API 50CHL system identified the strain as Lactobacillus plantarum and it was designated L. plantarum LHC52. Biochemical analyses revealed especially high antibacterial activity against E. coli. Yogurt produced using L. plantarum LHC52 did not show different microbiological and physicochemical properties compared to conventionally-prepared yogurt, implicating L. plantarum LHC52 as a useful, potently antibacterial starter culture for yogurt preparation.

This study was carried out to fortify the antimicrobial activity of yogurt by adding garlic juice to it. A raw garlic bulb was grated and heated with Glycyrrhiza uralensis to improve its antimicrobial activity and palatability. Yogurt was made with 0, 4, 8, and 12% garlic juice, and was evaluated in terms of its lactic starter growth, physico-chemical characteristics, growth inhibitory activity against Staphylococcus aureus KCCM 40510, and sensory characteristics. The garlic juice significantly increased the growth of the yogurt starter (p<0.05), which was highest with the addition of 4% garlic juice. Significant (p<0.05) inhibition of S. aureus KCCM 40510 occurred with the addition of 12% garlic juice. The preference was lowered with the addition of garlic juice, but the addition of 4% garlic juice showed no significant difference (p>0.05). To increase the antimicrobial activity of yogurt with the addition of garlic juice, further studies on the increase in the palatability of garlic juice are necessary.

Since the wide spread application of hyperbaric oxygenation in clinical setting, the problems of oxygen toxicity have been attracting a deep interest from the researchers on hyperbaric medicine as a practical issue. Among extensive research trials, the study on the protective agents against oxygen toxicity occupied one of the most challenging field. As the mechanisms of oxygen toxicity, the role of the oxygen free radicals produced by peroxidation process are strongly accepted by the leading researchers on oxygen toxicity, the probable protective effects of antioxidant against oxygen toxicity are sustaining a sufficient rationale. In this study, the author attempted to evaluate the effect of vitamin E as a protective agent against oxygen toxicity through the observation of death rate, convulsion rate, time to convulsion, and macroscopic and microscopic pathological changes of experimental rats exposed to 100% oxygen at 5 ATA for 120 minutes. The findings observed are as follows: 1) The death rate, convulsion rate, time to convulsion, organ/body weight ratio and microscopic pathological findings were identified as reliable objective and quantitative indices for oxygen toxicity. 2) Vitamin E showed excellent protective effects against CNS and pulmonary oxygen toxicity as a strong antioxidant. The most effective dose seemed to be around 400 mg/kg 3) The results of this study are supporting the oxygen free radical hypothesis on oxygen toxicity.

A landing gear supports an airframe on the ground and absorbs impact loads during a landing. Because a landing gear experiences repeated loads, a fatigue life should be estimated by analysis and qualified by test. A fatigue spectrum is a fundamental information for a fatigue analysis and it should be assumed. In this paper, a generation of fatigue spectrum is introduced for a landing gear fatigue analysis.
