Main authors about Alexandros the Great Plutarchos, Quintus Curtius Rufus, Flavius Arrianus Xenophon had different views on Alexander's character, career, events. In my view, Arrianos tried to write most favorably about Alexandros. For example, He criticized the counterpart of Alexandros, even though he thought that Alexandros made fault. And Plutarchos also had favorable view on Alexandros, but sometimes he revealed antipathy on Alexandros. However, he wrapped his feelings by some expressions of splendor rhetoric. But, Curtius Rufus criticized Alexandros clearly. By his view, Alexandros's character was changed after the victory of Battle of Issos. That is, Curtius Rufus described a falling figure by hybris. He said that Alexander went to bad by his great success. In the course of success, a man of Fortune's love was destroyed. It's very natural that this different views of three authors are connected closely with their periods, careers, born places, and statuses. Plutarchos was a priest of Greek Delphy in the 1st century AD, and Arrianos was a statesman that had consulship at 129 or 130 AD, though he was born at Nikomedia, Greece. Lastly, Curtius Rufus was estimated that he was a rhetorician and statesman as senator of Roman Empire in the 1st century AD.
