Vibro-impacts of gear pairs in a torsion system inherently occur under the steady state torque input condition since clearance type nonlinearitiesare related to the torsional vibration induced by the firing stroke of an engine. In order to investigate the dynamic characteristicsof gear rattle, front engine and front wheel drive configuration of the manual transmission is investigated under both wide open throttleand coast conditions. This configuration is examined using 6 degree-of-freedom system model, embedded by the relevant nonlinearitiessuch as multi-staged clutch dampers, gear backlash and drag torques. This article focuses on the relationship of vibro-impacts withkey parameters of clutch dampers, where the gear rattle phenomena are defined by “sing-sided”, “double-sided” and “no-impact” alongwith different clutch dampers. Thus, the mathematical model of the multi-staged clutch dampers is developed by including the asymmetrictransition angles and pre-load effect. Based upon this nonlinear model, three real-life clutch dampers are employed and simulatedresults are compared with limited experimental measurements conducted on a vehicle. Also, the dynamic characteristics of gear motionsunder the coast condition are investigated. This coast condition is explained corresponding to different input torque conditions and itssimulations show the main reasons of vibro-impacts induced by the clutch stopper well. Finally, modified clutch damper concepts forrattle-free transmission are proposed along with dynamic clutch design guidelines.
필렛엔드밀을 이용한 다면체 곡면의 NC 가공 경로 생성

본 연구에서는 필렛엔드밀을 이용하여 복합곡면을 가공하기 위한 새로운 접근방법을 제안한다. 이 방법은 "곡선기반 접근방법"으로 기존의 "점기반 접근방법"에 비하여 몇 가지 특징들을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 다면체로 표현된 곡민을 대상으로 하고 있는데, 볼록한 모서리와 꼭지점에서는 정확히 옵셋시키고 오목한 부위에서는 옵셋 곡면이 겹치는 것을 허용한다. 옵셋된 곡면을 절단 평면으로 자르고, 같은 평면상에 있는 교선 중에서 겹치는 부분을 택하면 공구 간섭이 제거된 공구 결로를 얻게된다. 즉 계산이 복잡한 오목지역에서의 옵셋 시 발생되는 간섭을 2차원 평면상에서 제거함으로써 계산 과정을 단순화 시키고 안정적으로 만든다. 본 연구에서 제안한 방법은 PC에서 VC++로 구현되었으며 몇 가지 적용 예를 보여주고있다.
Study on the Dynamic Characteristics of a Manual Transmission Using Linear Models

Torsional vibrations, such as the gear rattle of the manual transmission in vehicle systems, are correlated with the firing stroke from the engine. These vibro-impacts can be examined based upon linear time-invariant analysis. In order to understand the gear dynamics, a specific manual transmission with a front-engine front-wheel drive configuration is investigated. A method to reduce the degrees of freedom is suggested based upon the eigensolutions and frequency response functions, which will lead to the development of an efficient matrix size. The dynamic characteristics of single- and dual-mass flywheels are then compared. The effect of the dual-mass flywheel is investigated based upon the mobility analysis, which will lead to understanding of the concepts for avoiding vibro-impacts. A linear time-invariant system model is examined by employing the effective clutch stiffness from a two-stage clutch damper. Thus, the relationship between the dynamic characteristics and the clutch damper can be predicted by assuming a combination of different stage stiffness levels.
