Removal of toxic inorganic compounds using graphene oxide-based nanocomposites
양재규 한국공업화학회 2016 한국공업화학회 연구논문 초록집 Vol.2016 No.1
The graphene oxide (GO) was prepared by the ozonation process instead of using general Hummer`s method. In the present study, sugar based GO (SGO) was synthesized by ozonation of graphene which is produced by pyrolysis of sugar. And sugar based magnetized GO (SMGO) was synthesized by hydrothermal reaction between SGO and Fe(II)/Fe(III) salts. The prepared SGO and SMGO were characterized with suitable spectroscopy techniques in order to use for adsorption removal of U(VI) from aqueous solutions. The prepared sugar based graphene oxide confirmed by characterizing using FT-IR, XRD, and XPS studies. It was successfully applied for the removal of U(VI) by batch adsorption techniques. The adsorption kinetics results concluded that 90% removal of U(VI) within 30 min with 1.0 g/L SGO and SMGO at pH 4.0. The results demonstrate that the U(VI) adsorption was rate limiting pseudosecond order on heterogeneous surface of SGO and SMGO and was well described by Langmuir isotherms.
