This paper deals with a mathematical model and an algorithm for the problem of determining k most vital arcs in the shortest path problem. First, we propose a 0-1 integer programming model for finding k most vital arcs in shortest path problem given the ordered set of paths with cardinality q. Next, we also propose an algorithm for finding k most vital arcs in the shortest path problem which uses the 0-1 integer programming model and shortest path algorithm and maximum flow algorithms repeatedly. Malik et al. proposed a non-polynomial algorithm to solve the problem, but their algorithm was contradicted by Bar-Noy et al. with a counter example to the algorithm in 1995. But using our algorithm. the exact solution can be found differently from the algorithm of Malik et al.

The treatment of patients with hypertensive intracsrebral hemorrhage(ICH) is still controversial Fifty-two cases with hypertensive thalamic or putaminal hemorrhage were classified into three groups on the basis of the location of the hematoma in the internal capsule on the CT image All the cases were confined to the anterior (Type A. 17 cases). posterior(Type p. 25 cases) and mixed portion(Type M. 10 cases) of the posterior limb of the internal capsule. and were assigned to receive medical treatment extraventricular drainage(EVD) or stereotactic aspiration using urokinase This study was designed to assess the correlation between hematoma extension and the severity of motor disturbance in patients treated with stereotactic aspiration The severity of motor weakness was found not to be related to hematoma extension. but the prognosis was frequently poor in type P and type M. The outcome was better in the stereotactic aspiration group as compared with medical and EVD groups. especially when the hematoma was located at the posterior portion of the posterior limb of the internal capsule(p <0.05) The study suggests that stereotactic aspiration may improve the outcome of hypertensive ICH with severe motor weakness. even if the hematoma is small.

The purpose of this paper is to improve the computational time in determining the most vital arc in the minimum cost flow problem. First, the analysis of the existing version of algorithm is conducted to get information about its subroutine. The frequency of subroutine calling in the existing algorithm is used for the purpose. Second, we improve the solution procedure in determining the most capacity vital arc. This study adopt a method which mixes the preflow-push and labeling technique. And last, it is possible to minimize computational efforts by observing properties of the arc's minimum cost flow and flow augmented path. The computational results suggest that the new version be better than the existing one in determining the most vital arc in the minimum cost flow problem.
