Background: Intrathecal opioid has been known to enhance the quality and prolong the duration of spinal anesthesia, as well as to reduce postoperative pain. The purpose of this study was to evaluate postoperative analgesic characteristics of intrathecal fentanyl for the first 48 hours after anorectal surgery under saddle anesthesia. Methods: Eighty patients were recruited in our study. Forty patients were randomly allocated to group B that received 0.5% bupivacaine 5 mg with 0.3 ml normal saline. The other 40 patients were assigned to group BF which was given 0.5% bupivacaine 5 mg with fentanyl 15 μg. The primary outcome variable was a numeric rating scale (NRS) at six hours postoperatively. Secondary outcomes included changes in the NRS score between one and 48 hours postoperatively, consumption of rescue analgesics, and the frequency of rebound pain. Results: Group BF exhibited a lower mean NRS score at postoperative six hours compared to group B (P < 0.001). However, the mean NRS score was not different after postoperative six hours between the two groups. The median consumption of rescue analgesics in group BF was less than that of group B (P = 0.028) and the frequency of rebound pain decreased in group BF when compared to group B (P = 0.021). The levels of sensory block were S1 dermatome and motor block scores were 0 for both groups. There was no significant difference in adverse effects between the groups. Conclusions: Intrathecal fentanyl 15 μg for anorectal surgery under saddle anesthesia led to an improved pain score for the first six hours after surgery and decreased postoperative analgesic use. Rebound pain diminished with intrathecal fentanyl and adverse effects did not increase.
Experimental study on the performance evaluation of vacuum distillation process for NH₄HCO₃ removal

Experiments on NH4HCO3 removal using a hydrophobic membrane were performed under various operating conditions using VMD. Effects of various operating parameters used to separate NH4HCO3 were predicted after a feed solution recirculation time of 120 min. Results showed that gas removal efficiencies were quite stable in the range of 95% to 99% at initial feed solution temperatures of 50°C and 60°C, an initial feed solution volume of 1 L and a mass flow rate of 0.8 L/min. When the initial feed solution temperature was 40°C,a relatively low gas removal efficiency of 85% was achieved compared to the removal efficiency at temperatures of 50°C and 60°C. After the recovery of transmembrane vapor, a total water recovery of more than 86% was achieved in all cases while NH3 and CO2 removal efficiencies higher than 94% at 60°C with a mass flow rate up to 0.8 L/min were achieved after 60 min.

During surgery, the patient is positioned optimally according to the type of operation. Careful attention is required because damage associated with patient positioning may occur during the course of the surgery. Here, we present a case of hyperextension neck injury observed following parotidectomy. A 68-year-old man who was diagnosed with a parotid tumor underwent an elective right partial superficial parotidectomy. After surgery, the patient was not able to move his upper and lower extremities and experienced voiding difficulty. Cervical magnetic resonance imaging showed spinal cord injury at the C3-4 and C5-6 levels. High-dose steroid treatment was started, and emergency laminoplasty C4-5 to C5-6 was performed. Following laminoplasty, motor function was almost fully recovered, but proprioception was weak, and voiding difficulty remained a problem. The patient received rehabilitation treatment in the hospital for about 3 months, demonstrating improvement. He was discharged and continued treatment in the outpatient department.
A numerical study on the performance prediction of forward osmosis process

The performance of FO is predicted numerically by one-dimensional model. Mass balance equation for the feed and draw side are coupled with the water flux model considering concentration polarization. Results of the present study showed the flow rate of the feed and draw solution should be determined by considering the water flux and the water recovery efficiency. Using the draw solution of as high concentration as possible is helpful to improve the water flux. As increasing the membrane module length, the averaged water flux per membrane length decreases but the water production increases. Therefore, in order to determine the membrane length, it is required to consider the water flux reduction, total water production, membrane size and the number of membrane. The water flux of counter-current flow is about 10% higher than that of co-current flow. Forming feed solution into series and draw solution into rows are effective in increasing water flux.
올림픽 유산 사후활용계획 적용에 관한 연구 - 2018 평창동계올림픽 개최지역과 경기시설을 중심으로

This paper aims to analyze whether the post-utilization plan of the Olympic legacy is applied and presents implications for the development of the post-utilization plan, based on the status of host area and sports facilities after the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. The conclusion is as following: First, there were prior studies and plans for follow-up during the Olympic preparation process, but the scope of setting up the Olympic legacy was wide, including various categories such as culture and environment, and among them, measures for sports facilities only suggested a comprehensive direction. Second, there are very large differences in the establishment and application of post-utilization plans for each athletic facility. Speed skating stadiums, which do not have a clear plan for post-use, are temporarily operated for rental purposes, but Ice Arena and others are also multi-purpose sports facilities and athletes-only stadiums, widening the gap in the utilization of legacy. Third, the plans of local governments were limited to the level of planning to continue the cause of facility maintenance. It is only trying to maintain facilities by attracting domestic and international sports events such as the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics, and no specific measures have been proposed for the use of sports facilities. 본 연구의 목적은 평창동계올림픽 개최지역과 경기시설에 대해 올림픽 이후 사후활용 현황분석을 바탕으로 올림픽 유산 사후활용계획 적용 여부를 분석하고 결과에 대한 검증을 통해 사후활용계획의 발전을 위한 시사점을 제시하는 것이다. 연구 결과는 첫째, 올림픽 준비과정에서사후관리에 대한 선행 연구와 계획 수립이 있었지만 올림픽 유산에 대한 설정 범위가 광범위해건조물 외 문화, 환경 등 다양한 범주를 포함한 것으로 나타났고, 경기시설에 대한 사후관리 방안은 기존의 계획이 활용되지 않고 포괄적인 방향성만 제시하는 일부 사례가 나타났다. 둘째, 스피드스케이팅경기장은 대관 용도로만 운영되나, 아이스아레나 등은 대관 외에 다목적 생활체육시설 및 선수전용 경기장으로 활용되고 있는 등 경기시설마다 사후활용계획 수립 및 적용에있어 유산의 활용도 격차가 매우 크게 나타났다. 대표적으로 셋째, 경기시설의 구체적 활용방안이 제시되지 않은 사후활용계획에 따라 2024 강원 동계청소년올림픽을 비롯한 국내외 경기 유치를 통한 경기시설 기능의 명분만 이어가고 있었다.

Tagetes minuta L., belonging to the Chrysanthemum family has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial or antimicrobial effect. It has been used as not only an ornamental plant but also for flavoring, coloring or as medical plants in foreign countries since a long time ago. This study was carried out to investigate effects of whitening and anti-wrinkling and antioxidant activities of flower and stem extracts of Tagetes minuta with water and ethanol. In the contents of total polyphenol and flavonoid compounds, ethanolic extract of flower (FRE) was the highest as 426.42 mg/g and 61.11 mg/g, respectively. In the electron donating ability, the water extract of flower (FRW) and water extract of stem (SRW) were 93.26% and 92.91%, respectively, at the concentration of 1.0 mg/mL. In the superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activity, ethanolic extract of stem (SRE) was the highest as 62.53% and water extract of flower (FRW) was 61.92% at 1.0 mg/mL. In the nitrate scavenging ability, FRW was the highest as 93.18% and the SRW was 92.27% at pH 1.2 and 1.0 mg/mL. The tyrosinase inhibition activity of SRW was 25.45% and the collagenase inhibition activity of SRE was 45% at 1.0 mg/mL. The elastase inhibition activity of SRE was 46.73% at 1.0 mg/mL. These results suggest that the extract of T. minuta flower and stem could be used as anti-wrinkling agent and antioxidant resources for functional foodstuff, cosmetics and beauty industrial materials.
