The number of people working in their own home has been increasing, and this will change the form of house. Therefore, it is necessary to plan the new house for the people working at home, and to offer business related working area. This study was designed to know the office workers preference for spatial characteristics of home office. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey. The subject were 257 office workers living in Seoul area. Frequency, percentage, and MM2 : $\textrm{X}^2$-test were used. The results showed that the place for home-office should be located independently inside house. The desirable size for the home-office might be 3-4 pyung. If the place for home-office share with other places, livingroom of bedroom, it is necessary to develop furniture and partition matching with residential furniture and atmosphere. Office workers prefer U-shaped workstation and coner-shaped workstation.
The Effects of Initiation Side on Gait Symmetry in the Stroke Patients
신화경,노대용 대한물리치료학회 2013 대한물리치료학회지 Vol.25 No.6
Purpose: To investigate the effects of initiation side on gait symmetry in the chronic stroke patients. Methods: Twenty one patients with independent gait after stroke were divided into the paretic-leg gait initiation group (PLI) and the nonparetic-leg gait initiation group (NPLI). The symmetry ratio (SR) was calculated from of the spatiotemoral and kinematic parameter which measured by 3D motion analysis. Results: In the spatiotemporal variables, SR-step length and SR-velocity was significantly different between groups (p<0.05). In the kinematic variables, SR-TOAA and SR-SwPAA of the hip joint was significantly different between groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: We suggest that the initiating leg may influence on the gait symmetry of stroke patient These results will be a helpful reference in hemiplegic gait training or intervention.
Quantitative EMG Changes During 12-Week DeLorme's Axiom Strength Training
신화경,조상현,이영희,권오윤 연세대학교의과대학 2006 Yonsei medical journal Vol.47 No.1
Strength training is one of the most common exercises practiced in the field of physical therapy or sports training. However, limited methodology is available to evaluate its effect on the target muscle. This study aimed to test the hypothesis that surface electromyographic (EMG) data from both isometric and isotonic exercise can express changes within the muscle during a 12-week strength training program. Ten healthy male volunteer students (5 for training, 5 for controls) from Yonsei University were recruited for evaluation in this study. DeLorme's axiom was practiced for 12 weeks in the dominant elbow flexors and knee extensors of the training group. Tension for 1 repetition maximum and maximal voluntary isometric contraction, and surface EMG information such as the integrated EMG and three variables from the regression line of median frequency (MDF) data were measured at weeks 0, 3, 6, 9, and12. The limb circumference was measured at weeks 0 and 12. During the strength training, which was enough for the increment of muscle strength and limb circumference, the rectified-integrated EMG and initial MDF increased with a significant linear pattern in both types of contraction. The two surface EMG variables were able to monitor the physiologic muscle changes during the training. Based on these results, we propose that these two surface EMG variables can be used for monitoring electrophysiological changes in the specific muscle that is undergoing the training program, under conditions where the contraction mode for EMG data collection is either static or dynamic.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of physical performance on bone mineral density (BMD) in elderly women. Methods: Twenty-one elderly women participated in this study. After testing functional ambulation category (FAC), they were classified into two groups: dependent walking group, those who could not walk independently (FAC 0~2, n=11) and independent walking group those who could walk independently (FAC 3~5, n=10). Outcome measures were: general characteristics, physical performance and BMD. General characteristics included age, body mass index (BMI) and waist-hip ratio. Physical performance included the chair rise test (CRT) and the modified fall efficacy scale (MFES). BMD was represented in the osteoporosis index (OI), T-score and Z-score. BMD was evaluated in calcaneal bone, using OsteoPro. The data was analyzed using SPSS 12.0 software and the Mann-Whitney U test and the Spearman correlation. Results: Age, BMI and waist hip ratio, which all affect BMD, showed no significant differences between groups (p>0.05). But the FAC 3~5 group showed a significantly higher score for CRT, MFES and T-score, compared with the FAC 0~2 group (p<0.05). The T-score was correlated with CRT and MFES scores (p<0.05). Conclusion: There is a positive relationship between physical performance and BMD. Therefore, improved physical performance can have a beneficial effect by reducing osteoporosis in elderly women, considering a positive relationship between physical performance and BMD.

The purpose of this study is to scrutinize the change of Korean dwelling space terms, and confirm the value of literature as data for a study on dwelling space terms. The terms, which describe the dwelling space, were selected in 63 Korean literature. The terms about rooms, working spaces, space for physiology and hygienic, and storage spaces, were analyzed. The terms about rooms were classified by a constituent unit of traditional housing, location, size, function, and so on. Among them, the number of terms about function had increased more and more. These terms were changed by housing size, housing form, structure of house and household, family size, and so on. It was confirmed that literatures have utility values for a study on change of dwelling space terms. In next study, it is required to analyze the meaning and usage of Korean dwelling space terms, and to compare terms in floorplans with terms in literature.
