Cytotoxic Germacranolide Sesquiterpenes from the Bark of Magnolia kobus

A new (3) and three known germacrane-type sesquiterpenoids were isolated from the chloroform-soluble fraction of the methanolic extract of the bark of Magnolia kobus (Magnoliaceae) through repeated silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography. Their chemical structures were elucidated as costunolide (1), parthenolide (2), isobisparthenolidine (3), and bisparthenolidine (4) by spectroscopic analysis. Compounds 1-4 exhibited cytotoxicity against human A549, SK-OV-3, SK-MEL-2, and HCT15 tumor cells.

Their chemical structure were elucidated as salicylic acid, 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid, astragalin, rutin, and quercetin-3,7-O-β-D-diglucopyranoside by spectroscopic analysis.

The chromatographic separation of the methanolic extract from the twigs of Ilex macropoda(Aquifoliaceae) led to the isolation of three hemiterpenes, and their chemical structures were elucidated byphysico-chemical and spectroscopic analysis. Their structures were characterized as 4,5-dihydroxyprenyl caffeate(1), 4-(6-O-caffeoyl-β-D-glucucopyranosyloxy)-5-hydroxyprenyl caffeate (2), and 4-β-D-glucucopyranosyloxy-5-hydroxyprenyl cafeate (3), respectively. Compound 1 was isolated for the first time from plant.

There have been two types of powertrain mounting component test. They are single axis block cycle test and multi-axial real time test. In case of single axis block cycle test, the test schedule is short and simple test rig set up but the correlation between the vehicle test or the subsystem module test is not so good. In case of multi axial real time test, the correlation is better than single axis test but the test schedule is longer than single axis test. It is needed to develop new test method for the short test schedule with the better correlation. This study shows new test method(multi axial block cycle test) can have similar failure mode and test result with current test method.

The thermal indices which show the relation between human thermal sensation and surrounding outdoor climatic conditions is not made so clear as in the indoor one. In the paper, the applicability of SET<SUP>*</SUP> to the outdoor climatic environment in the winter was examined by the experiment of thermal sensation from physiogical and psychological view point. The result are as follows. SET*<SUP></SUP> upper 19℃ and MST upper 31.4℃ are considered to be the comfort zone in the outdoor environment. The thermal sensation was more influenced by air velocity than by solar radiation.
