Osteomas in the head and neck regions are uncommon benign lesions and usually found in the front ethmoid area. Temporal bone osteoma is an extremely rare entity. When it is located in the temporal bone, it may cause various symptoms such as hearing loss, tinnitus, vertigo, facial palsy and cosmetic deformities such as auricular protrusion and external mass. We report, with a short review of the relative literature, a case of large osteoma that originated from a squamomastoid portion of the temporal bone in a female patient of 20 years old.

The purpose of this research is to construct experimental test set-up and to establish a series of performance test program for the domestically developed hydraulic couplings, and to provide a software to store and utilize these experimental data which can be used to improve the performance of the hydraulic coupling and solve the job problems confronted during operation. The performance test consists of measurement of torque, rpm and efficiency of the hydraulic coupling for three different amounts of working fluid with various loads to the output shaft, and investigating the torque, rpm and efficiency characteristics with respect to these parameters. The results of this study can contribute to the development of variable speed hydraulic coupling and torque converter pursued by the domestic industry.
Cochlear Damage Caused by the Striking Noise of Titanium Head Golf Driver

Objectives. To investigate how mouse cochleae are affected by the striking noise of titanium head golf driver. Methods. Thirty-two BALB/c mice (20–22 g) with normal hearing were used. The impact acoustic stimulus generated by the striking of titanium golf driver head was centered around 4.5 kHz with 120.5 dB sound pressure level. The recorded impact noise was provided to mice in two ways with the same exposure time of 288 seconds: 1,440 repetitions and an impact duration of 0.2 seconds for 2 hours (repetitive noise) or serially connected impact noise for 288 seconds (continuous noise). Auditory brainstem responses were measured at baseline, day 7, and day 14 after exposure. The mice were then sacrificed for histology. Results. Both groups showed statistically significant threshold shifts immediately after noise exposure. Mice in the continuous exposure group, except for those exposed to 32 kHz noise, recovered from threshold shifts 1–2 weeks after noise exposure. However, in the repetitive exposure group, threshold shifts remained for 2 weeks after exposure. The repetitive exposure group had greater hair cell damage than did the continuous exposure group. Structural changes in the stria vascularis were observed in the repetitive exposure group. Conclusion. Overexposure to impact noise caused by hitting of titanium head golf driver may be hazardous to the cochlea, and repetitive exposure may induce greater damage than continuous exposure.
군 지휘관 대상 다문화교육훈련 프로그램을 위한 탐색적 모델 연구

본 연구는 군 지휘관을 대상으로 하는 다문화교육의 모델을 제시하기 위해 다문화 군대의 개념을 정립하고, 다문화 군대에서 발생할 수 있는 갈등 유형을 추출하며, 교육프로그램의 모델을 탐색적으로 제시하고자 한다. 이와 같은 연구목적을 해결하기 위해 본 연구는 교사 및 다문화 전문가들을 대상으로 한 선행연구 및 교육프로그램들을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 민족정체성, 인종, 종교, 언어, 성적기호 등의 다섯 가지 다문화 관련 갈등요인을 추출하였으며, 이와 관련된 교육프로그램의 교육내용을 도출해낼 수 있었다. 또한 이러한 교육내용은 정체성확립, 지식습득, 인식 및 태도형성, 그리고 사례연구 등의 네 단계의 모델에 의해서 교육프로그램으로 구성될 수 있음을 확인 하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 실천적, 이론적 시사점 및 후속연구에 대한 제언을 제시하고 있다. The purpose of this study is to explore a multicultural education program model appropriate for military officers in Korea. The number of multicultural families are steadily growing in Korea and the military population is becoming diverse by different ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds. Thus, the ability to acquire and develop multicultural competence is becoming critical for military officers to weld together military personnels from different cultures and build an effective teamwork. This study establishes the concept of the multicultural military and identifies critical conflicts that are likely to occur in the multicultural military. This list of multicultural military conflicts is generated by synthesizing and analyzing social conflict types reported in multicultural societies through the literature review. Accordingly, national identity, race, religion, language and affinity orientation are identified as major conflicting factors in a multicultural military. Afterwards, this study analyzes representative multicultural education programs for educators and practitioners to develop an educational program model that fits to the Korean military. As a result, tentative educational contents for military officers are drawn which can be comprised of four training steps; (1) identity building, (2) knowledge acquisition, (3) attitude formation and (4) case study. Lastly, this study suggests practical and theoretical implications and suggestions for further studies.

Objective : This study was designed to investigated effects of Gleditsia spina (GS) on human derived melanoma cells Methods : The genetic profile for the effect of medicine on human derived melanoma cells of SK-MEL-2, was measured by using microarray technique, and the functional analysis on these genes was conducted. The network of total protein interactions was measured by using cytoscape program. Results : Total 253 genes were up-regulated and 439 genes down-regulated in cells treated with GS. Genes induced or suppressed by GS were all mainly concerned with metabolic process, regulation of biological process and protein binding. Conclusion : Suggest the possibility of GS as anti-cancer drug and cosmetic agent, and also suggest that related mechanisms are involved in regulation of intra-cellular metabolism in melanoma cells.

The purpose of this study is to modify the kerosene furnace, which is forced flue type with 15000kcal capacity, to gas furnace satisfying for CITY gas, LNG gas and LPG gas. The gas furnace, a kind of gas appliance, is mainly used for heating houses by combusion of gas. This paper describes briefly the design technology for gas burner which is most important in replacing kerosene fuel with gas fuel. Especially, the design for gas nozzle is constructed by theoretical and experimental method. It is found that the experimental results of the modified gas burner are good agreement with the theoretical results for calorific value and combustion efficiency. The result of this study will contribute in the design skill and of gas burner and similar gas appliance, and the pursuit for reduction of fuel cost as well as atmospheric pollution.
