The mutal solubility and the tie-line data were obtained at 25℃ and 1 atm. for ternary and quarternary systems of acetic acid (solute), water (diluent), and six different solvents. A good linear relationship of the Fujita-Hirata plot was obtained using those six solvents; 1-butanol, isopropyl ether, and 75 vol %, 50 vol %, 25 vol %, and 10 vol % of 1-butanol in isopropyl ether. The product of the distribution ratio and the selectivity, M'_A × β_A, was plotted against the volume percent of isopropyl ether to determine the optimum mixing ratio of isopropyl ether which was found to be 69 ± 2 % by volume.

상압하에서 benzene(1)-n-heptane(2)-toluene(3)계와 n-hexane(1)-ethanol(2)-benzene(3)계의 기액평형 조성을 Scatchard 평형증류기의 기액분리부분을 개량한 증류기로 측정하였다. 이들 3성분계의 기액평형값을 Wilson식, NRTL식, UNIQUAC식에 의하여 추정하여 비교하였고 각 식의 파라메타는 3성분계의 2성분쌍이 이루는 문헌의 기액평형값으로부터 구하였다. 이들 식에 의한 3성분계 기액평형의 기상 조성의 추정값은 평균편차가 1.56∼3.50% 범위내에서 NRTL식, Wilson식, UNIQUAC식 순으로 잘 맞았다. Vapor-liquid equilibrium compositions at the normal atmospheric pressure were measured for the benzene(1)-n-heptane(2)-toluene(3) system and also n-hexane(1)-ethanol(2)-benzene(3) system with the improved Scatchard equilibrium still. These ternary vapor-liquid equilibrium compositions were compared with predicted values by the Wilson, NRTL and UNIQUAC equations. And parameters in those equations were obtained by using the binary vapor -liquid equilibrium compositions in the literature for binary pairs consisting of ternary systems. The predicted vapor compositions of ternary vapor-liquid equilibria by those equations with only binary parameters were in good agreement with accuracy in mean deviation range of 1.56-3.50%(NRTL eq., (2.50) ̄% : Wilson eq., (2.52) ̄% : UNIQUAC eq., (2.57) ̄%).
