        검정돈의 생산형질 및 선발지수에 미치는 제요인의 효과

        This study was carried out to investigate environmental effects on certain economically important genetic traits in swine. Data from the 12,402 performance records obtained at the Korean Second Swine Test Station from the year 1990 through 1997 were used for the study. The statistical analyses were made on effects of breed, sex, farm region, parity, litter size, year and season of birth. The average daily gain of Duroc was superior to those of Landrace and Yorkshire. The backfat thickness of Duroc was thicker than those of the other two breeds (P$lt;0.01). The selection indices in Landrace and Yorkshire were bigger than those of Duroc in both ways of index calculation. The effects of birth year on backfat thickness, feed efficiency and the days to 90㎏ exerted gradual progress(P$lt;0.01). Most of the growth traits of pigs born in fall or winter were superior to those of pigs born in spring or summer(P$lt;0.01). The effects of litter size showed significant differences in all of the traits studied.

      • The Effects of Nitrogen and Oxygen Abundance Variations on The Evolutionary Tracks of Low-Mass Stars

        Recent observations show that there are variations in light elements, such as C, N, O, and Na, between the sub-populations in most globular clusters in the Milky Way. In order to investigate their effects on the evolution of stars in globular clusters, we constructed new sets of isochrones and horizontal branch evolutionary tracks under different assumptions as to the abundance of N and O ([N/Fe] and [O/Fe], respectively). In this talk, we will present our preliminary results from these calculations.

        本 硏究는 1985년 8月부터 1990年 8月 사이에 京畿道 利川郡 所在 S農場에서 生産되어 體重基準으로 檢定된 Duroc種, Landrace種 및 Yorkshire種 3個品種 總 5,724頭에 대한 資料에 根據하여 돼지의 主要 經濟形質에 미치는 性, 産次, 出生季節, 同腹仔豚數 및 檢定開始日齡의 效果를 推定하기 위하여 遂行하였던 바 그 結果를 要約하면 다음과 같다. 1. 調査된 形質의 性間 차이를 보면 Duroc種, Landrace種 및 Yorkshire種의 등지방 두께에서 수퇘지가 各各 1,836㎝, 1,508㎝ 및 1,866㎝로서 암퇘지에서의 2,085㎝, 1,525㎝ 및 1,940㎝보다 優秀하였고, 日當增體量, 90㎏到達日齡 및 154日齡體重도 3品種에서 수퇘지가 優秀하였다. 2. 檢定豚의 出生季節은 調査된 모든 形質에서 여름과 겨울에 出生한 仔豚이 優秀하였으며 産次의 效果에서 등지방두께는 Duroc種과 Yorkshire種에서 1産次일 때 各各 1,935㎝ 및 1,820㎝로서 가장 얇았고 日當增體量은 Duroc種과 Landrace種은 2∼3産次에서, Yorkshire種은 6産次 이상에서 가장 무거웠으며 90㎏到達日齡과 154日齡體重은 4∼5産次에서 優秀하였다. 3. Duroc種과 Landrace種에서 등지방두께는 同腹仔豚數가 7頭 이하일때 가장 우수하였고 Yorkshire種은 7頭이하에서 가장 不良하였으며, 日當增體重은 Duroc種은 8∼11頭 Landrace種은 12頭이상 그리고 Yorkshire種은 7頭이하에서 各各 가장 優秀하였으며 90㎏到達日齡과 154日齡體中은 Duroc種과 Yorkshire種에서는 7頭 이하일 때 優秀하였다. 4. 調査된 形質의 檢定開始日齡의 效果를 보면 日當增體重은 開始日齡이 느릴수록 優秀하였고 90㎏到達日齡과 154日齡體衆重은 開始日齡가 빠를수록 優秀하였다. 또한 등지방 두께는 Duroc種과 Yorkshire種에서는 開始日齡이 75日 이하일 때 그리고 Landrace種은 76日에서 85日사이일때 가장 優秀하였다. This study was conducted to investigate the genetic and the effects of the environmental factors on economically important traits in Swine. The traits studied were backfat thickness, average daily gain, age at 90㎏ and 154day weight. The data used in this study were obtained from 5,724 herds of Duroc, Landrace and Yorkshire breed tested on a weight-constant basis at S Swine Breeding Farm at lcheon, Kyunggi Do from August 1985 to August 1990. 1. Males had thinner backfat of 1.836㎝ in Duroc, Landrace and Yorkshire than females of the respective breeds. Also, Males growth traits was superior to those in females. 2. Season of birth was superior to the summer and winter. And backfat were superior in the 1st parity in Duroc and Yorkshire, 4th to 5th parity in Landrace, Also average daily gain was heaviest in the 2nd from 3rd parity to the Duroc and Landrace and age at 90㎏ and 154day weight was superior in the 4th from 5th to the parity 3. In the Duroc and Landrace backfat was thinnest in the litter size under 7 and York-shire was best thickness in the litter size under 7. Average daily gain was superior in the litter size 8∼11 for Duroc, over 12 for Land-race and under 7 for the Yorkshire, respectively. 4. For the start age average daily gain was superior to the slow age at 90㎏ and 154day weight was superior to the fast. Also, In the Duroc and Yorkshire backfat was superior in start age under 75day and 76day to 85day for Landrace.

        돼지의 산자수와 이유시 생존율에 미치는 환경요인의 효과

        This study was conducted to investigate the effects of parity, season and year of farrowing on the preweaning traits of swine based on the data obtained from 1,370 litters of Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace and Yorkshire breeds. The sows were raised at the Swine Breeding Station of National Livestock Cooperatives Federation in Yeong Kwang from 1983 through 1986. Least squares means were computed within breed and the results are summarized as follows: 1. Overall least squares means for litter size alive were superior in Landrace (9.35 head) to those in other breeds. 2. For the litter sizes at 21 and 42 weaning days of age, Landrace showed best and was followed by Yorkshire, Duroc and Hampshire in order. 3. Percentages of weaned pigs were 93.5 in Landrace 90.0 in Yorkshire which showed about 1(1% higher than those in the other two breeds. 4. Sows furrowed at 3rd or 4th parity showed better performances for most of the traits studied. 5. Pigs born in spring or fall were superior to those born in summer or winter. The year 1984 in general seemed to be better than any other years included in this analysis.

        돼지의 유유전체중 (維乳前體重) 에 미치는 환경 요인

        토양 균주 발효 추출물 Nargenicin 및 그 유도체의 항생제 대체 효과능 평가

        본 연구진은 신규 미생물인 Nocardia sp. CS682 균주에서 항균물질인 nargenicin을 확보하고, 그 유도체 5종을 확보하여 그람양성, 음성 및 다약제 내성균에 대한 항균 효능 및 LPS로 자극된 대식세포에서의 nitric oxide 생성 억제능을 확인하였다. Nargenicin 유도체들은 nargenicin 및 vancomycin에 비교하여 우수한 항균 활성을 보여주었으며, compound 4 및 5는 광범위한 항균 효능 외에 nitric oxide 생성 억제능을 보여 항균-항염효과를 가지는 dual effector로써 감염, 면역 질환에 응용 가능성을 시사하였다. Nargenicin 유도체들은 향후 염증반응에서의 면역 조절 기작에 대한 추가 연구가 필요할 것으로 사료된다. IIn vitro antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activities of nargenicin and its derivatives were investigated. Nargenicin, an unusual macrolide antibiotic with potent anti-MRSA (methicilin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) activity, was purified from the culture broth of Nocardia sp. CS682. And variety of novel nargenicin derivatives was synthesized from nargenicin. Two compounds (4 and 5) exhibit a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activities against infectious bacteria. The antimicrobial activity of derivatives against fifteen organisms was assessed using the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). The MIC values were in the ranges of 0.15~80 μg/mL (w/v) for compound 1 and 2, 5~80 μg/mL (w/v) for compound 3, 1.25~40 μg/mL (w/v) for compound 4, and 1.25~80 μg/mL (w/v) for compound 5, depending on the pathogens studied. In vitro, we investigated cytotoxicity and inhibition of nitric oxide (NO) production of synthesized compounds 1-5 in Raw 264.7 cells. LPS-induced nitric oxide releases were significantly blocked by compound 3, 4 and 5 in a dose-dependent manner. At high concentrations (5 μg/mL) compound 5 inhibited the NO production by 95%. Compound 4 inhibited the release of NO in LPS-activated Raw 264.7 cells by 75% at the concentration of 10 μg/mL. Compound 3 inhibited the release of NO in LPS-activated Raw 264.7 cells by 65% at the concentration of 100 μg/mL. On the other hand, nargenicin, compound 1 and 2 did not inhibit NO production. These results demonstrated that compound 4 and 5 displayed antimicrobial activity and blocked LPS-induced pro-inflammatory mediators such as NO in macrophages, which might be responsible for its therapeutic application.
