Bio-degradable hydraulic oil using polyolester base oil is formulated for the applications of heavy duty hydraulic machineries. It has proved quality and market price competitiveness by assessment of reliability test in vehicle manufacturer and specific vehicle related institute. Contribution of bio-degradable oil keep the working environment clean and increase export competitiveness in European market. Leakage or waste of mineral types of hydraulic oils in heavy duty machineries causes pollution of river, ocean, underground water. Drinkable-water pollution is serious problem in Europe. In some European countries, using bio-degradable hydraulic oils become an obligation in heavy duty machineries. New product of bio-degradable oils satisfy the European regulations(OECD 302B) and shows excellent performance in compare with European products.

The emission reduction technology for diesel vehicle is classified as fuel substitution, improvement of diesel combustion quality, and development of diesel exhaust gas after-treatment. The most effective way for the emission reduction technology is known as to be exhaust gas after-treatment system, and this field of research is evaluated by many groups. The Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) system has many advantages of reducing particulates and harmful gaseous substances such as CO, HC. Also, it is simple in device structure, relatively low cost, and easy to install without retrofitting the vehicle. Recently, the DOC system has been used for the most diesel vehicles in the European countries. In this study constructed a new fast aging mode for DOC and carried out conversion efficiency test for fresh and aged catalyst. Also it was evaluated the de-activation characteristics of DOC according to the aging time and applied load conditions.<br/>

Fuel filter in common rail engines are equipped with special heating system because of wax and paraffin components in diesel fuel can be solidifies at low fuel temperature. The solidified components blocks fuel supply to the high pressure fuel pump according to the filter element filling. In case of common rail direct injected engines, fuel blocking may cause serious damage to high pressure pump because of fuel pump is lubricated by fuel itself. The extremely narrow clearance between plunger and barrel can be directly contacted if discontinuous fuel supplies. This study focuses on evaluation technologies for heating element type diesel fuel filters that can improves fuel flow at low temperature. Flow capability, power consumptions and pressure drop has been estimated in a specially made fuel delivery testing system.

Diesel fuel contains several types of wax and paraffin components to improve combustio capability in pressured combustion chambers. These kind of components are easily solidifies at low fuel temperature and blocking fuel supply to the high pressure fuel pump according to the filter element filling up. In case of high-pressure direct injected engines (i.e., HSDI (Hig Speed Direct-Injection)), fuel blocking may cause serious damage of high pressure pump because of the fuel pump is lubricated by fuel itself. The clearance between plunger and barrel is very small and dry contact of this clements occur fuel pump failure. This study focuses o evaluation technologies for heating element type diesel fuel filters that can improves fuel flow at low temperature. Wide contact area between the flowing fuel and high flow velocity in the fine filter media rise up the possibility of electrostatic discharge in the fuel filter. In this study, investigations of electrostatic discharge characteristics has been carried out in the fuel systems of gasoline engines depending on the filter media conductivity. For the experiment, two types of in-tank type plastic modular filters are prepared equipped with pulp based media and specially made conductive media. In this study, investigations of electrostatic discharge characteristics has been carried out in the plastic modular fuel pump of gasoline engines depending on the ground design feature. The experimental results shows, an accumulation of electrostatic voltage depends on filter media conductivity and ground through partially embed conductive plastics.

Recently social awareness on environmental issues including air pollution has been raised, and related laws and regulations have been reinforced. In the circumstances, the development of common rail diesel engine has been progressed, which can correspond with EURO Ⅳ & Ⅴ and has low-noise, strong-power and excellent fuel efficiency. This research aims to develop parts for Advanced Fuel/Oil Filtering Re-circulation applicable to this kind of regulation proof engines. These parts can playa role of converting traditional air emission type crankcase into recovery type crankcase so that the engine can deal with environmental regulations, which do not allow minimal amount of toxic gas discharge. The results showed that emission characteristics of the vehicle after install CCV(Crankcase Ventilation) System was higher than before install CCV system in vehicle emission test.

The coated specimens for cam-tappet wear test were producted by using PVD and polymer coating technique. Low friction/Low wear coating were applied WC/C, CrN, WC/C+CrN, MoS₂+PAI, MoS₂+PEEK coating. The profile of coated specimens were observed by non-contact type Optical Surface Measuring System and The friction-wear behaviors of coated specimens were investigated by using cam-tappet type wear tester. The results showed that frictional torque of the WC/C, WC/C+CrN, MoS₂+PAI, MoS₂+PEEK coated specimens were lower than one of non-coating specimen.
