Package design that was the most effective means in the era of industrialization is changing its role and meaning with paradigm shift. Mass production by industrialization brought mass consumption, and thereby environmental problems threatens humanity``s existence. To overcome this problem, package design focused on the eco-friendly but it should be consider to social and economic as well as environmental aspects by sustainability. There are approaches and methods such as reduction, reuse, recycling, up-cycling and biodegradable for sustainability in consumer brands packaging. In this paper, the definition of sustainable package design is packaging which results in improved sustainability. It is the intention to consider not only environmental but also economic and social aspects for the ecological balance and sustainable development. To this end, methods and processes of packaging should have an effect on corporate social responsibility(CSR), consumer behavior and awareness for sustainability. This study is significant in that consider the sustainability of packaging to achieve ecological balance and propose of the new role of design to make our sustainable developments. This study will contribute to designers ethical responsibility and the design methods and processes for sustainable packaging.
패키지 디자인에 있어서 정보 시각화를 위한 인포그래픽 유형 및 표현 연구

Package design is a powerful tool to enhance the brand image of a company or product. Also, packaging shows design trends and communicates a variety of information to consumers. This study was started from thoughts about how to effectively communicate information of brand and products in package design. To do this, this study is focused on infographics as a new strategic method to visualize information of brand and products in package design. Infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge. Infographics have types such as quantitative type, chronological type, spatial type, hierarchy type based on the approach methods according to information types. In package design, Infographics can intuitively deliver information consumers and it is easily caused interest and empathy from them. Also, infographics have many advantages of providing information to the various consumers effectively with new methods and approaches. In this study, we point out the problems with a provider-oriented package design and propose infographics as a strategic method for consumer-oriented design. This study will contribute to the design methods and processes for effectively consumer-oriented information visualization in package design.
