아쉬탕가 요가수련 경험을 통한 힐링(Healing)의 의미

이 연구는 아쉬탕가 요가 수련의 힐링 경험의 의미와 가치를 탐색한 연구이다. 사례연구방법을 적용하여 15주 동안 연구가 진행되었으며 10명의 연구참여자를 대상으로 심층면담, 참여관찰, 문서자료를 통해 자료를 수집 하였다. 연구 참여자들이 아쉬탕가 요가를 접하게 된 계기는 ‘새로운 신체활동의 갈망’, ‘숙련자들의 아쉬탕가 요가 추천’, ‘현대사회에서 요구되는 신체미(美) 기대’로 나타났다. 아쉬탕가 요가 초기 수련 당시 ‘낯섦으로 유 발된 고통의 시간’을 경험하였다. 수련에 점차 익숙해짐에 따라 신체의 ‘지각과 인식의 과정 ’을 경험하고 이후 ‘호흡과 동작의 일치로 몰입’을 경험하게 되었다. 아쉬탕가 요가에 숙련되어 감에 따라 수련시간을 ‘매트 위에 서 이루어지는 휴식’, ‘정신적 긴장을 이완하는 명상’, ‘오염된 신체의 치유과정’으로 인식한다. 이러한 경험들은 경쟁 구도 속에서 살아가며 아쉬탕가 요가를 통해 신체적, 정신적으로 치유하는 가치 있는 활동으로 받아들인 다는 것을 연구를 통해 확인하였다. This study set out to investigate the healing experiences and meanings of training in Ashtanga Yoga for people with tired bodies and souls. The qualitative case study was applied to them for 15 weeks with data collected through an in-depth interview, participatory observation, and documented materials. The participants had a chance to encounter Ashtanga Yoga for "desire for new physical activities," "recommendation by skilled experts," and "expectations for the physical beauty required in the modern society." Taking part in the training of Ashtanga Yoga, the participants experienced "hours of pain caused by unfamiliarity" with the yoga training process in the early days of their training. As they got accustomed to training gradually, they experienced a "process of perceiving and recognizing their own bodies" and then "immersion based on the agreement of breathing and movement" during the training hours. As they got skilled with Ashtanga Yoga, they considered the hours of the still hard training as the process of experiencing "a rest on the mat," "meditation to relax the mental muscles" and "purification to discharge the accumulated negative elements."

우리나라 과학교육실태를 들여다 보면 기초공사를 허술하게 한 고층빌딩이 연상된다. 기초과학자의 푸대접이라든가 초중고의 암기식 과학교육 등 당면한 문제들, 또 시민들의 결핍된 과학기술정신도 바로 잡아 과학기술의 생활화를 위한 캠페인도 함께 벌여야 하겠다.

Green network analysis in coastal cities using least-cost path analysis: a study of Jakarta, Indonesia

The rapid urbanization in developing countries is accelerating both the depletion and fragmentation of urban green space, despite the known positive effects of green spaces on the environmental conditions in cities and the quality of life of residents. Consequently, there is a need for practical tools that can support the development of networks of urban green spaces. This article presents a study that used a GIS-based least cost path (LCP) analysis to identify the best alternative for developing an urban green space network in the coastal city of Jakarta, Indonesia, which was based on the evaluation of topography and land use characteristics. Pair-wise analysis was used to reduce the sensitivity in the LCP model. The results showed that the coastal wetlands in the northern part of Jakarta and the agricultural fields in the suburban areas of Jakarta play an important role in connecting the green space network. On the other hand, some green spaces in the central part of Jakarta could not be connected by the LCP model. The method used in this study can serve as a tool to support the identification of networks of potential urban green spaces. It can also provide useful information for sustainable urban landscape planning and management in urban ecosystems. However, the inclusion of socio-economic criteria would further improve the model. Tribulus terrestris Suppresses the Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Inflammatory Reaction in RAW264.7 Macrophages through Heme Oxygenase-1 Expressions

The fruit of Tribulus terrestris L. (Zygophyllaceae) is an important source of traditional Korean and Chinese medicines. In this study, NNMBS223, consisting of the ethanol extract of T. terrestris, showed potent anti-inflammatory activities in RAW264.7 macrophages. We investigated the effect of NNMBS223 in suppressing the protein expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 and production of iNOS-derived nitric oxide (NO), COX-2-derived prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated macrophages. In addition, NNMBS223 induced expression of heme oxygenase (HO)-1 through nuclear translocation of nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) in macrophages. The effects of NNMBS223 on LPS-induced production of NO and PGE2 were partially reversed by the HO activity inhibitor tin protoporphyrin (SnPP). These findings suggest that Nrf2-dependent increases in expression of HO-1 induced by NNMBS223 conferred anti-inflammatory activities in LPS stimulated RAW264.7 macrophages.

Organophosphorus insecticides induce different clinical manifestations varying according to the different side groups attached to the phosphate, their rates of degradation, and their fat solubilities. In consequence of this variation, specific treatments are required for particular organophosphorus insecticides. We report a unusual case of intoxication with dimethyl organophosphorus insecticide in a 26-year-old woman. She manifested atypical and ultimately fatal symptoms including profound shock, refractory hyperglycemia, and hypothermia.

다문화가정 자녀들의 태권도경험에 관한 교육적 의미 소고

이 연구는 다문화가정 자녀들이 한국의 전통 무도인 태권도 활동에 참여하는 과정을 탐색하고 태권도 활동 참여는 다문화가정 자녀들에게 어떠한 교육적 가치와 의미가 있는지를 탐색하고 분석하기 위해 질적 연구방법 중 사례연구방법(case study)으로 진행하였다. 다문화가정 자녀들 8명, 태권도 지도자와 다문화가정 부모들 6명을 연구 참여자로 선정하여 심층면담, 참여관찰, 참여관찰 일지를 통해 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다. 다문화가정 자녀들의 태권도 활동 참여는 부모들의 한국적 교육에 대한 갈망으로 시작하였다. 다문화가정 자녀들은 태권도의 다양한 활동과 경험 속에서 또래와 대등한 관계가 되었다는 위로를 받고 사회적 역능성을 발견하였다. 태권도 활동 속에서 도덕교육을 학습하며 사회교류에서 중요한 도덕판단 기준을 인식하고 사회적 정의감을 형성하였다. 마지막으로 태권도 활동을 통해 자신의 관심과 흥미에 대한 진지한 고민을 하여 자아를 확립하고 삶의 지향점을 찾게 되었다. 태권도 활동을 통해 다문화가정의 부모들은 자녀를 공감하고 이해하게 되었으며 다문화가정의 부모들과 유대관계를 형성하여 교류하며 의지와 위로를 받게 되었다.
