The purpose of this study is to suggest a new electrode placement of electroencephalogram (EEG) to measure human affect. According to the lateralization of emotional processes in the frontal lobes, positive valence activates the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), while negative valence activates the right DLPFC. Affective arousal activates the right parietotemporal region. In the present study, we suggest new electrode placement grounding on affect sources in human brain. Fp1 of 10-20 electrode placement system is sensitive to positive valence while F8, instead of Fp2, is sensitive to negative valence. In addition, ventromedial prefrontal cortex is also sensitive to positive valence while dorsomedial cortex is sensitive to arousal.
