Prenatal diagnosis (PND) such as amniocentesis or chorionic villi sampling has been widely used in order to prevent the birth of babies with defects especially in families with single gene disorderor chromosomal abnormalities. Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) has already become an alternative to traditional PND. Indications for PGD have expanded beyond those practices in PND (chromosomal abnormalities, single gene defects), such as late-onset diseases with genetic predisposition, and HLA typing for stem cell transplantation to affected sibling. After in vitro fertilization, the biopsied blastomere from the embryo is analyzed for single gene defect or chromosomal abnormality. The unaffected embryos are selected for transfer to the uterine cavity. Therefore, PGD has an advantage over PND as it can avoid the risk of pregnancy termination. In this review, PGD will be introduced and application of PGD in inborn error metabolic disorder will be discussed.
유리 망사 섬유를 지지체로 하는 수은 제거용 흡착체의 제조와 특성 평가에 대한 연구

수은 이온의 제거를 위한 흡수체를 glass web을 지지체로 하고 그 표면을 (3-aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane(APTMS)와 trimethoxy(octyl)silane(TMOS)로 처리하여 제조하였다. 제조된 흡수체의 표면은 희석 총 반사율 적외선분광법과 X-선 광전자 분광법을 이용하여 표면 처리 전의 glass web과 비교 분석하였다. APTMS와 TMOS는 지지체의 표면에 반응을 통하여 고정화되어짐을 확인하였다. 수은 이온의 제거 능력을 비교하기 위하여 glass web과 APTMS와 TMOS를 표면에 가지는 glass web을 유도 결합 플라즈마 방출 분광기 분석을 통하여 실험하였으며, 실험 결과 APTMS 표면 처리 glass web > TMOS 표면 처리 glass web > glass web의 순서로 중금속 수은 이온을 제거할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 순서는 glass web의 표면 처리에 이용된 APTMS와 TMOS의 화학 구조와 연관성을 가진다. Absorbent materials for mercury removal were prepared using (3-aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane (APTMS) and trimethoxy(octyl)silane (TMOS) on the surface of glass web fiber. Surfaces of the absobent materials were characterized by attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The elements of the modified surface in the absorbent materials were well accordance with those of APTMS or TMOS. Adsorption of mercury ion from mercury-contaminated water using the prepared absobent materials was studied. Quantitative measurement of mercury ion was carried out on inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy (ICPOES). The ability of mercury ion removal from mercury-contaminated water is in the sequence of APTMS-modified glass web > TMOS-modified glass web > pristine glass web. This sequence has relationship with chemical structure of APTMS and TMOS which were used for modification of glass web.
ACF 담지에 의한 기상 수은 흡착성 PTFE 멤브레인 필터의 제조

In this study, the adsorbent was coated on the bag filter material to remove mercury in the flue gas of the incinerator. Activated carbon fiber (ACF) powder was used as an adsorbent. Dip coating, droplet coating, and spray coating method were tried to effectively coat ACF on the surface of polytetrafluorothylene (PTFE) non-woven fabric as a bag filter material. Among these coating methods, ACF powder was coated on the surface of PTFE non-woven fabric by dip coating to observe the adsorption behavior of mercury. It was confirmed that the coating of ACF added the mercury adsorption characteristic of the bag filter material. In addition, it was confirmed that when KI was supported on the ACF surface, the mercury adsorption performance was enhanced. This result is expected to be used as basic research data to develop a technique to simultaneously remove ultra-fine dust and small amount gas phase mercury in the flue gas in the dust collection process by filtration.
WTO 뉴라운드 서비스협상에 따른 우리 나라 서비스산업의 개방효과

New Round Service Negotiation is one of the built-in-agenda which is scheduled to start negotiation by 2000. With the increasing portion of service sector in world trade, the result of this negotiation would have serious impacts on Korean economy. Besides the request/offer type, the formula type is likely to be adopted in this negotiation and the scope of the negotiation covers almost all service sector. The opening of service sector would have positive spillover effects on manufacturing sectors and the transfer of advanced technology and management skill would increase. The computational general equilibrium simulation predicts the increase of real GDP, employment, and welfare through the opening of service sector. Except a few industries(such as, construction, broadcasting), employment and investment are expected to increase in most industries. However, the security net and job training needs to be expanded because some industries(such as, restaurant hotel, real estate) would suffer unemployment problem.

國內의 원자재나 部品을 해외 생산기지에서 가공 또는 조립하여 다시 국내로 再輸入하는 해외 위탁가공 수입품에 대해 國內에서 수출된 원자재 및 부품을 사용한 부분에 대해서는 관세를 면제해 주는 제도를 도입할 경우 理論的인 측면에서는 貿易收支 변화방향을 사전에 단정하기 어렵지만, 實證的 측면에서는 우리나라의 경우 이 制度를 導入했을 때 貿易收支가 改善될 것으로 推定된다. 이 制度의 導入으로 인해 수입품 중 상당부분이 원자재 및 부품의 調達先을 우리나라로 轉換할 것으로 기대되고, 전환 정도가 클수록 貿易收支 改善效果는 클 것으로 예상된다. 그러나 이 제도의 도입은 貿易收支 뿐 아니라 國內生産, 雇傭, 海外投資 등에도 영향을 미치게 되기 때문에 綜合的인 分析이 요구된다.
