Analysis of the Regeneration Plans for the Icknield Port Loop Regeneration Scheme in Birmingham

The effectiveness of the regeneration policy and practices which is regarded as the difficult subject has been assessed and evaluated and the importance of assessment indicators also has been constantly increased in evaluating sustainability of urban regeneration policy and practice. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore how plans for the Ickniedl Port Loop Regeneration (IPL) Schemes indicate a sustainable development using indicator-based approach in terms of social, economic and environmental dimensions. The research range will be limited to only the Greater Icknield area as the masterplan covers a range of opportunity areas respectively. Survey was carried on through collecting the secondary research data by literature review and both descriptive and systematic approaches will be applied concurrently. Conclusion of the study is as follows: Firstly, Social sustainability has been partly linked to transport and mobility plans, building and land use, and community benefits are closely relate to it. Secondly, Economic sustainability through economy and work indicators, building and land use has been shown the results that local employment, economic partnership, development of skills and the vitality of spaces are considered importantly to deliver sustainability for the neighbourhoods. Finally, environmental sustainability has carefully analyzed by the indicators in building resource use, building and land use and transport and mobility aspects.
