In this note we introduce the concept of the modulus of a family of q-dimensional surfaces in the Euclidean n-space R^n and apply the modulus to the boundary behavior of analytic functions. We consider the applications of modulus to quasiconformal mappings and present simple proofs of the well-known results.

井伏のいわゆる漂流ものでは素材が主題に關わっているものが多く、そういった素材が隨筆的小品に多々書かれている。「ジョン萬次郞漂流記」を始め、その一生を通して、多くの漂流ものの小說を書いている。それらを發表する前に、漂流に關して素材的な原點になるエピソードを多くの隨筆的小品に記している。が、これら漂流に關しての隨筆的な小品を一括して論じた硏究はまだ乏しい。本稿はそういった隨筆的小品群を考察し、小說の中にそれら素材をどう取り込んでいったか、井伏の關心の所在を確認し、井伏の執筆姿勢とその變化についても考えてみた。 その結果、井伏の交友や交流についての一貫した關心が考察された。一方、人物造型等の素材選擇が變化しているものもあり、戰前と戰後の漂流もので焦點が變わったことも明らかになった。 井伏が漂流ものに關心を持つようになったのは、單に旅が好きであったためであったと見られてきたが、昭和十年代の執筆當時の閉鎖的空間から井伏自身、作品を通して脫出をはかりたかったとも思われる。そして、徐々に漂流ものは共同體の內部を語るための裝置になり、閉鎖的社會を批判するためのものともなっていった。井伏は漂流ものの書き始めから、必ずしも共同體の現實に傍觀的ではなく、一貫して强い關心を持っていたと思われる。ただ、戰前は書き方が個人の追求を通して社會の現實を間接的に傳えていたのが、戰爭を經驗した井伏はそののち、より積極的に共同體の閉鎖的權力體制を告發するようになっていったようである。

흰쥐 턱밑샘에서 fluoxetine 투여에 의한 침분비 및 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor M3 발현 감소

침분비저하, 구강건조증 및 침 성분의 변화를 포함한 비정상적인 침분비는 항우울제복용과 관련된 중요한 부작용이다. 선택적 세로토닌 재흡수 억제제(SSRI) 항우울제 또한 이러한 부작용을 가지고 있다. 하지만 SSRI에 의한 침분비저하 기전과 항콜린성 작용은 완전히 밝혀지지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 fluoxetine 의 만성 투여 후 쥐의 침샘에서 침분비와 콜린성 신호 단백질 수치의 변화를 확인하였다. 동물은 정상군, 저농도경구투여군(20 mg/kg p.o.), 고농도경구투여군(40 mg/kg p.o.), 저농도복강투여군(20 mg/kg i.p.) 그리고 고농도복강투여군(40 mg/kg i.p.)으로 구분하였다. 4주 동안 fluoxetine 투여 후, 침을 수집하여 침분비량을 측정하였다. 후에 침샘 조직을 적출하여 muscrinic acetylcholine receptor M3 (mAchR M3) 와aquaporin5 (AQP5) 항체를 이용하여 단백질 정량을 하였다. 그 결과 복강투여군에서 침 분비량의 감소가나타났지만, 경구투여군에서는 나타나지 않았다. 이 감소 패턴은 mAchR M3 와 AQP5 단백질 수치에서도유사하게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 fluoxetine에 의한 침분비저하가 항콜린성 작용과 관련이 있음을 시사한다.

Extremal length and geometric inequalities

We introduce the extremal length and examine its prop-erties. And we consider the geometric applications of extremallength to the boundary behavior of analytic functions, conformalmappings. We derive the theorem in connection with the capacity.This theorem applies the extremal length to the analytic functiondened on the domain with a number of holes. And we obtain thetheorems in connection with the pure geometric problems.

Pragmatic Transfer in Refusal Strategies by Korean Learners of English

This paper examines pragmatic transfer in the speech act of refusal by Korean learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). The participants include 20 university students in Korea. The data were collected from the responses to 12 items of written discourse completion test per participant: six items in English and six items in Korean. The task consisted of four different situations in terms of social status, which elicit refusal responses to request, offer, suggestion, and invitation. The data for refusals both in English and Korean were analyzed according to frequency types of refusal strategies and interlocutor’s social status. Results showed that the making refusals in English and Korean by Korean EFL learners shared similarities in the choice of refusal strategies. However, there were instances of differences between English and Korean refusal strategies. Findings call further research on pragmatic transfer based on the varied English proficiency level thereby considering appropriate teaching methods.

The 700-MHz and 1-MW klystron was designed and constructed by the Korea Accelerator and Plasma Research Association (KAPRA). A pulse power supply was used to manipulate the negative high voltage in the primary performance test for the klystron. After reinforcing the protection circuit, the test went on better than before. If a baking furnace is added to the klystron under fabrication, the ultra-high vacuum might be stabilized better than it is without the furnace. Various infrastructures, including the baking furnace, are under construction to develop the klystron

Intelligibility of Korean-Accented English: Effects of Listener’s Familiarity

The present study investigate d Korean accented English (KoE) intelligibility and conducted experiments in Korea, Japan, and the USA to test the benefits of li ste ner ’s familiarity and ident ify the key phonological features of KoE. In the experiments, the participants were asked to transcribe the target (KoE) of 100 English statements each containing a target word representing one of the nine featur es. The tr anscription data were administered to four groups, depending up on the degree of KoE familiarity (length of exposure). The r esults indicate d that KoE was most intelligible to native English speakers with lower familiarity and least intelligible to the J apa nes e participants with low KoE familiar ity. Although the listeners’ familiarity d id not necessarily either facilitate or impede the intelligibility of KoE, the listeners with higher familiarity with KoE tend ed to recognize the voiced consonants of KoE better. The fin din gs also indicated which KoE characte ristics affected the overall intelligibility level, suggesting ways to prioritize KoE features in English language learning in Korean classrooms.

Modulus and Conformal Capacity Modulus 와 等角容量

領域내의 曲線族(curve family)에 대하여 그 길이와 영역의 면적의 관계로서 정의할 수 있는 modulus 라는 양이 있다. 이는 일종의 測度(measure)이며 용량(容量, capacity)개념과 관련하여 많은 흥미로운 생각을 할 수 있다. 이 소고에서는 modulus 개념을 소개하고 modulus를 응용하여 condenser(영역, 예를 들면 원환영역(ring domain)의 等角容量(conformal capacity)에 대한 어떤 복함수론적 결과를 얻었다.
