Subclavian artery aneurysms are quite rare and they are known to be as only 1% of all peripheral aneurysms. Atherosclerotic disease is the most common cause of subclavian artery aneurysms. These aneurysms can cause rupture, thrombosis, embolisms or symptoms by local compression. Surgical operations are generally performed as treatment. We report here on a case of successful surgical treatment for a right proximal subcalvian artery aneurysm, and the surgery was performed via the medical exclusion method.
응유효소를 생산하는 Mucor mucedo C-7의 분리 및 동정

대용응유효소를 생산하는 균주를 선별하기 위해 토양, 건초, 퇴비 등 114시료를 분리원으로 하여 응유효소를 생산하는 16균주를 분리하였으며 이들 각 균주들 이 생산하는 유응고력과 단백질 분해력의 비는 균주번호 C-7것이 1.929로 가장 좋았다. C-7 균주의 균사는 회백색으로 격막이 없었고 포자낭병은 균사로부터 단독으로 곧게 뻗어 갈라지지 않은 monomucor형으로 그 끝은 구형의 포자낭을 형성하였으며 적합한 생육온도와 생육 pH의 범위는 20-30℃, pH3.0-8.0이었다. 형태적, 생리적 여러 특성에 따라 C-7 균주는 Mucor mucedo로 동정되었다. This study was attempted to obtain the efficient milk-clotting enzyme from microorganisms as a rennet subtitute. Fungi which showed the formation ability of the milk-clotting enzyme were selected out from samples of soil hay and wastes etc. Among these isolated fungi, strain no. C-7 which had presented higher value in the ratio of milk-clotting activity to proteolytic activity was selected. The hyphae of this strain was white to gray and no septa. A single sporangiophore which stand erectly above growing hyphae was monomucor type without branching. A globose sporangium was developed at the tip of each sporangiophore. The suitable temperature and pH for the growth of no. C-7 was 20-30℃ and pH 3.0-8.0 respectively. These morphological and physiological characteristics implied that strain no. C-7 was Mucor mucedo.

The milk clotting enzyme produced by Mucor mucedo C-7 was purified by Amberlite CG -50 column chromatograph and DEAE-Cellulose column chromatograph. The results were obtained as follows. An protein fraction obtained, having both milk clotting activity(MCA) and proteolytic activity(PA), was divides to two fractions by Amberlite CG-50 column chromatograph. The MCA/PA ratio of one fraction was 2,850 and the ratio of the ocher fraction was 1,560. At the first DEAE-Cellulose column chromatograph, the MCA/PA ratio of fraction NO. 73-82 eluded with 1/50M-acetate buffer soln.(pH5.5) containing 0.18-0.2M NaCl was 3,100. At the second DEAE-Cellulose column chromatograph, the MCA/PA ratio of fraction NO. 77-84 eluded with 1/50M-acetate buffer soln. (pH 6.0) containing 0.1-0.2M NaCl was 4,030. The pattern of polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of the purified enzyme was one band and the relative mobility was 0.57.

This experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of various nutritional sources for the products of the milk clotting enzyme and the results were obtained as follows. 1. The addition of 1% glucose. 0.5% (NH₄)₂SO₄, 0.1% malt extract, and 1.0% NaH₂PO₄ to the wheat bran medium was effective for the production of the milk clotting enxyme. 2. The production of the milk clotting enzyme was makedly increased by the addition of Mallvaine buffer solution mixed these in the wheat bran medium. 3. The maximum enxyme production of the blanded wheat bran medium was reached about 8100 Soxhlet units per gram of wheat bran.
有機溶媒를 利用한 홍고추로부터 赤色Oleoresin 抽出에 미치는 影響

This experiment was carried out to investigate the various effects of solvents, particle sizes, mixed ratio to the sample and solvent, solvent concentration, extracting temperature etc.on the extracting conditions for the red pepper oleoresin production to improve the utilization of red pepper. Followings are the results from the experiment : Of six solvents used for red oleoresin extracted from red pepper, methyl alcohol proved to be the most effective solvent.The most effective solvent for capsanthin and capsaicin was diethyl ether, the most appropriate particle size was 80 mesh, and optimum mixing ratio of red pepper to methyl alcohol solvent was 1:100(w/v) for the effective extraction of red pepper oleoresin. Optimum extracting concentration(%) of methyl alcohol was 100% and optimum extracting time was about 150min.The yield of red oleoresin under the above- mentioned conditions was 48.03% to red pepper.
Pazopanib for Non-small Cell Lung Cancer: The First Case Report in Korea

Pazopanib is a potent multitargeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor that has been shown to have good efficacy in patients with renal cell carcinoma. A previous phase II trial demonstrated that short-term pazopanib administration was generally well tolerated and showed antitumor activity in patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer. Herein, we report on the case of a 66-year-old man with simultaneous metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the lung and renal cell carcinoma who was treated with pazopanib. The patient showed an unexpected partial response and experienced a 10-month progression-free survival without significant toxicity. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first report of pazopanib treatment in a non-small cell lung cancer patient in Korea. The results in this patient suggest that pazopanib may be a valid treatment option for advanced non-small cell lung cancer.

The milk clotting enzyme produced by Momilia sp. that was selected from soil was purified, and the property was investigated. The obtained results were as follows. 1) The crude enzyme was purified by Amberlite CG-50 and DEAE-cellulose column chromatography, then the specific activity of the purified enzyme was 12.4% and the yield was 38%, respectively 2) The purified enzyme showed a single band on polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. 3) The molecular weight of the purified enzyme was estimated to be about 37,000 by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and 38,500 by gel filtration, and isoelectric point of it was appeared to PH 3.8 4) The purified enzyme is a sort of acid protease with optimum pH 3.0 for casein at 285 nm 5) The optimum temperature for PA was 50℃ and for MCA was 70℃ on 10% reconstituted skim milk and 60℃ on the same milk containing 1/100M CaCl₂ 6) The stable PH range of the purified enzyme was PH 3.0 - 7.0,and it was rapidly inactivated above and below it's range.
