        The study on the heater usage for better energy efficiency of domestic convection oven

        In this study, the heater usage algorithm has been studied for cooking process in a domestic oven. For the analysis, Numerical simulation and experimental study have been performed, focusing on heat distribution and heat loss mechanism. Better fidelity of baking process model was achieved by incorporating enthalpy jump at the phase change and evaporation-condensation mechanism into the thermal properties of cupcake. The result of heat flux calculation over enclosed walls shows that the back surface has the highest heat flux due to high temperature of convection heating during preheating process. During baking process, the heat flux on the top surface of cupcake on a upper tray was found to be about 1.8 times as that on the lower tray due to radioactive heat flux from grill heater. For an energy saving purpose, the more balanced use of heating units, for instance, more use of grill heater than convection heater, was recommended. The thermal conductivity of insulation material was a more important factor than specific heat on the power consumption during preheating.

        The arterial carbon dioxide partial pressure (PCO2) & pH are basic indices of the adequacy of ventilation in anesthetized patient. Obstacles to the use of these indices intraoperatively are the inconvenience and risks associated with obtaining arterial blood, especially in the iufant. Venous blood samples may be obtained conveniently repeatedly and without additional hazard. If venous rather than arterial blood could be used for indirect estimation of pH and PaCO2, it would encourage the use of such measurements. The venous blood drawn from back of hand or distal third of forearm is derived principally from cutaneous blood flow, which is usually increased by general anesthesis or local heating. This study compares the values for PCO2, pH and O2 saturation of blood samples drawn from a radial or femoral artery and a vein on the back of hand during general anesthesia, preanesthesia and in recovery room postanesia.

        술어명사구의 통사적 실현 양상

        The aim of this paper is to examine and analyze diverse aspects in the syntactic realization of predicative noun phrases. In this respect, we first examined the relation between the argument forms of verbs and predicative nouns. Secondly, we analysed four arguments whose forms are respectively 'ui', 'zero', 'e daehan' and 'e uihan' in relation to their functions given by a predicative noun. Thirdly, we analysed the restrictions on the realization of arguments in predicative noun phrases. More specifically, we examined two types of restrictions: restrictions due to the lexical properties of predicative nouns and restrictions due to the argument form of predicative nouns. Fourthly, we examined the omission of arguments occurring in predicative noun phrases and found all the arguments are not necessarily realized in predicative noun phrases: only when an argument proximate to the predicative noun is realized can this predicative noun phrase be grammatical. We also examined a noun phrase previously categorized as predicative which seems to be grammatical even though its proximate argument is not realized and determined it to be a new type of situational noun phrase. In other words, we showed that in order to explain diverse types of argument omission occurring in predicative noun phrases, we have to divide predicative nouns into two types: one used only as a predicative noun and the other used as a predicative and situational noun.

        20 m 점증 왕복달리기 검사를 이용한 여중생의 VO2max 추정식 개발

Exercise Science, 23(1): 1-11. 2014. The purpose of this study was to develop and validate regression models to estimate maximal oxygen uptake (V O2max) from the 20 m Progressive Shuttle Run Test (20 m PSRT) in Korean middle-school girls aged 13-15 years. The 20 m PSRT and VO2max were assessed in a sample of 194 participants. The sample was randomly split into validation (n=127) and test-retest reliability (n=99, 32 out of 127 participants also performed validity test) groups. 127 participants performed a graded exercise test (GXT, stationary gas analyser) and the 20 m PSRT (portable gas analyser) once to develop a VO2max prediction model and to analyze the validity of the modified 20 m PSRT protocol (starting at 7.5 km/h and increasing by 0.5 km/h every 1 min). 99 participants performed the 20 m PSRT twice for test-retest reliability purpose. Mean measured VO2max (39.2±5.1 ml/kg/min) from the potable gas analyzer was significantly increased from that measured during the GXT from stationary gas analyzer (37.7±5.7 ml/kg/min, p=.001) using the modified 20 m PSRT protocol. But it was a narrow range (1.5 ml/kg/min). The measured VO2max from the potable and stationary gas analyzers correlated at r=.88(p<.001). Test-retest of the 20 m PSRT yielded comparable results (Laps r=.88 & final speed r=.85). New regression equations were developed from present data to predict VO2max for middle-school girls: y=.231XLaps-.311Xweight(in kg)+46.201 (r=.74, SEE=4.29 ml/kg/min). It is concluded that (a) the modified 20 m PSRT protocol is a valid and reliable test and (b) this equation developed in this study provides valid estimates of VO2max of Korean middle-school girl aged 13-15 years.

        A study on thermal fluid flow of magnetron cooling for microwave oven

        A numerical study has been conducted on thermal dissipation fin shape of the magnetron of a microwave oven. The main focus of the study was on reducing the bypass away from cooling air around cooling fins and enhancing the heat transfer around cylindrical anode body with numerical investigation on louver, slit, dimple and bending shape. To optimize the location and the shape of the elliptical dimple, RSM(DOE) was adopted to enhance the thermal dissipation from the cylindrical anode of magnetron. The flow separation around the anode was delayed due to optimized dimple numerically and verified by experimental study. The enhancement of the fin cooling was utilized for cost reduction of the cooling fin by reducing the thickness of the fin from 0.6 mm to 0.5 mm, resulting in weight saving by 16.7 %.
