It is an important task of the study of women's history to make clear when re-pressive and discriminative history of woman started. Social situation in which his-tory is written is always reflected in historical writings. Historians of medieval, modern or contemporary societies describe the same fact of primitive or ancient societies in different ways each. These happen because value orientations of each times are different. Samkooksaki, the oldest Korean history book, existing today and written in the middle of the 12th century, Dongkooksaryak, written in the beginning of the Yi dyn-asty of the 14th century, and Donggooktonggam, written in the 15th century of the Yi dynasty's defensive times, are all written with Confucian principles of historical view, but value standards of writing these three books are quite different. This comes from different historical consciousness of each times. Historical writings in traditional Korea were a kind of evaluation and criticism on historical facts which history writers made with value orientations or historical con-sciousness of his living times. These were especially common in historical writings written by scholars who had Confucian values. Analysis of historical writing reflects well the character of writin as well as social situation in Which the writing was made. This article tried to make clear the process of historical change of Korean women's status since the ancient society in Korea by analyzing the historical writings on women in three ancient Korean kingdoms(Kokuryo, Backchae and Shilla). The historical writings on women appeared in three history books are all concerned with foundations of three kingdoms and three queens of Shilla dynasty as well as a queen of Kokuryo, Woo. These are all related to women politics. In ad-dition to these, the historical writings criticized consanguineous marriage and inter-marriage of the same family names from the point of Confucian ethics. It was much after tile Yi dynasty that women were driven out from politics and history, making women accept that they were under the dominance of men.
