A 10 years old, intact male, Maltese dog with clinical signs of labored respiration, exercise intolerance and increasing of coughing was referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University. Physical examination revealed tachycardia, panting and mild cyanosis. This case was diagnosed as mitral valve insufficiency by clinical signs, ascultation, blood chemistry, radiography and electrocardiography. This dog was treated with ACE inhibitor (enalapril), diuretics (furosemide) and bronchodilator (aminophylline) for 14 days. After treatment, clnical signs were disappeared and also this dog was needed to be continuous monitoring and sodium restricted diet.

This research introduces a new and improved design for a pneumatic cylinder driven roll feeder wherein each of the principal rotating feeder parts is configured so as to have feeding accuracy and to be low manufacturing cost. The feed pitch accuracy of the proposed roll feeder was evaluated by measuring lengths of cut offs of the strip stock with a shear attached to an air press. The air press was designed, manufactured, and mounted on the same table of the proposed roll feeder such that the strip stock maintained horizontal plane until the strip stock entered into the shear. The proposed roll feeder and the air press were designed to be operated automatically by a PLC employed controller. The feed pitch accuracy of the proposed roll feeder was analyzed by setting the pitch as 10, 12.5, and 15㎜. At each predetermined feed pitch, the proposed roll feeder was tested 300 times as one test set and replicated three times. The average lengths of the cut offs of the strip stock ranged from 9.98 to 10.13㎜, from 12.42 to 12.57㎜, and from 14.96 to 15.06㎜ at the predetermined 10, 12.5, and 15㎜ feed pitch, respectively, among the total of 900 samples of each feed pitch. Main cause of variation of the length of the cut off of the strip stock fed by the proposed roll feeder was considered to be fluctuation of the air press during recompressing period of the air compressor to pressurize the air in the air tank. The largest difference between the maximum and the minimum length of the cut off was appeared while the air compressor recompressing the air. The air compressor used for this study restricted the air delivered to the proposed roll feeder while it was still running. Thus, this air delivery restriction problem should be improved by stabilizing the air press while the proposed roll feeder is running.

A proposed pneumatic cylinder-driven roll feeder and an air press were designed to be operated automatically by a PLC. The accuracy of the intermittent feed pitch of the roll feeder was evaluated by measuring lengths of cut-offs of a strip stock by a digimatic vernier caliper. At each predetermined feed pitch, the proposed roll feeder was tested 100 times by varying the feed/cut intervals as 2.0/1.5, 3.0/2.0, and 3.5/2.5 s as test sets. The lengths of the cutoffs of the strip stock ranged from 9.89-10.34, 12.1-12.65, and 15.21-15.67 mm at the predetermined 10, 12, and 15 mm feed pitch, respectively, among the total of 300 samples in each feed pitch, regardless of the feed/shear interval. Therefore, the feed/cut interval at each selected feed pitch was found to have no effect on the accuracy of the intermittent advancing of the strip stock.

Performance Analysis of the Prototype Ice Cream Sandwich Enveloping System
Jung Duck So 한국생산제조학회 2019 한국생산제조학회지 Vol.28 No.1
The Prototype Ice Cream Sandwich Enveloping System was manufactured with an automated sequential control procedure to envelop an ice cream sandwich made of softened ice cream and two slices of bread, which would be ready-to-serve as a deep-fried dessert. The prototype discharge softened ice cream on a slice of bread and sandwiched it with another slice. The automated system would then envelope the sandwich utilizing four air presses and four cavity molds. Performance was evaluated with a sample size of 120 slices of bread and softened ice cream. This system enveloped a row of four ice cream sandwiches at a time and was capable of enveloping more than eight ice cream sandwiches per minute at an efficiency of 94%. Weight of softened ice cream discharged on a sandwich ranged 45±3 g. The failure of enveloping ice cream sandwiches was due to horizontally positioned and protruding slices of bread.
Displacement Control of Pneumatic Actuator Equipped with PLC and Proximity Sensors
Jung Duck So(서정덕) 한국생산제조학회 2008 한국생산제조학회지 Vol.17 No.2
A pneumatic system was proposed to evaluate displacement accuracy of the pneumatic actuator without external load and to analyze capability of integration of the proposed valve system. The proposed pneumatic system consisted of a combination of pneumatic valves, two proximity sensors, and a programmable logic controller(PLC). The position controller is based on the PLC controller connected with the proximity sensors. Displacement accuracy of the pneumatic cylinder stroke was tested by varying air pressures of the supply and discharge-side and strokes of the pneumatic cylinder. The displacement accuracy of the pneumatic cylinder stroke increased as the supply and discharge side of air pressure increased at the stroke length of 133㎜. Also the displacement accuracy increased as the stroke length increased with a fixed supply and discharge side of air pressure of the pneumatic cylinder as 3.5 and 4.5㎏/㎠, respectively. The most accurate displacement of the pneumatic cylinder(i.e., standard deviation of 0.01㎜) was obtained at the supply and discharge side of air pressure of 4.0 and 5.0㎏/㎠, respectively, and strokes of 170 and 190 ㎜ among arbitrarily selected supply and discharge side air pressures and strokes.

The incidence rate for scarlet fever in South Korea is rising. During 2008–2015, we collected group A Streptococcus isolates and performed emm and exotoxin genotyping and disk-diffusion antimicrobial tests. Scarlet fever in South Korea was most closely associated with emm types emm4, emm28, emm1, and emm3. In 2015, tetracycline resistance started increasing.

Aerobic bacterial growth on Korean pan?fried meat patties as a primary quality deterioration factor was modeled as a function of temperature to estimate microbial spoilage on a real?time basis under dynamic storage conditions. Bacteria counts in the stretch?wrapped foods held at constant temperatures of 0, 5, 10 and 15℃ were measured throughout storage. The bootstrapping method was applied to generate many resampled data sets of mean microbial counts, which were then used to estimate the parameters of the microbial growth model of Baranyi & Roberts in the form of differential equations. The temperature functions of the primary model parameters were set up with confidence limits. Incorporating the temperature dependent parameters into the differential equations of bacterial growth could produce predictions closely representing the experimental data under constant and fluctuating temperature conditions.
