      • Transformational Leadership and Trust Building in a Hong Kong Primary School: A Case Study

        The transformative educational reform that has impacted Hong Kong, especially since the start of the second millennium, has prompted changes at every school level. Much attention has centered on ways school leaders can effectively manage policy making and professional development to meet the challenges arising from the wave of education reforms. This dissertation investigated how a highly respected Hong Kong primary school leader uses the four attributes of transformational leadership--idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individual consideration---to build trust with her team members and to facilitate trust building among the team members themselves. The main research question guiding this case study is to what extent does the use of transformational leadership factor into faculty trust-building at a premier primary school in Hong Kong? The four sub-questions considered explore ways the principal’s behavior results in her being perceived as a role model for the team members to facilitate trust building, the ways she inspires and motives team members, how she actually facilitates trust building, and how she displays consideration and concern for her team members. Major findings revealed that the principal’s transformational leadership practice was largely responsible for the school’s high level of effectiveness.

      • Utilizing immersive VR in E-commerce and its effects on online customer experience

        This thesis studies how and in what manners employment of immersive virtual reality (VR) affects online customer experience. Whilst nearly all academic papers on the topic of immersive VR focus on the technical and engineering aspects of the subject, this thesis studies immersive VR in e-commerce from a humanities point of view. First, by reviewing the existing literatures on online customer service experience, this paper conceptualizes online customer experience and identifies its building blocks. Then, by relying on findings of two academic papers on the topic of non-immersive VR in e-commerce, factors that affect online trust-building and online purchase decision-making are identified. Finally, through a survey, this research analyzes whether or not the elements that affect online customer service experience, online purchase decision-making, and online trust-building are enhanced when e-commerce businesses utilize immersive VR. The results of the survey show that the use of immersive VR enhances various aspects of online customer experience, although it deteriorates the social dimensions of online shopping. This study provides an insight for immersive VR content developers and e-commerce managers by showing them the areas in e- commerce that they can improve by utilizing immersive VR.

      • Regional environmental governance in Northeast Asia : the UNDP/GEF YSLME's role in fostering regional cooperation

        Despite the stark increase in the number of bilateral interactions between countries in Northeast Asia, development of multilateral institutions and other forms of regional cooperation have remained quite modest. This paper explores the reasons why it is difficult for countries in the region to cooperate, and also examines a case that has important implications for better governance and international cooperation in Northeast Asia. Historical animosity and mistrust are major obstacles to forming highly institutionalized forms of governance. The effectiveness of governance is assessed and measured across three dimensions – the issues, actors and forms. The paper argues that the element of trust is important in all three dimensions, and that it is crucially necessary in a region that is tainted by mistrust. The UNDP/GEF YS LME Project was selected as a case study because it has important implications for building better governance and trust amongst countries in Northeast Asia. The case demonstrates that the appropriate selection and combination of options under the three dimensions of governance can help build better governance and also build trust amongst the participating actors.

      • I Am. Intercultural Advocacy and Mentoring Program: Increasing Occupational Therapy Practitioners Advocacy Skills in Collaboration With Latinx Families With Young Children

        Public school closures and the provision of occupational therapy services during the COVID-19 pandemic revealed inequities and barriers that affect Latinx families’ and children’s access to resources. In Massachusetts, many students receiving occupational therapy services may have missed mandated and necessary occupational therapy services due to systemic barriers and the lack of skills to advocate for their needs. Occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) may have lacked the self-efficacy and ability to facilitate the families’ advocacy. Culturally appropriate evidence-based interventions are needed to serve Latinx families and their children and prevent them from being underserved. A literature review identified that OTPs might not have the necessary skills to work effectively with culturally diverse groups. This skills gap reduces the OTPs’ ability to provide culturally appropriate interventions and holistic care to Latinx children and their families. A proposed solution to this problem is the 6-month, theory- and evidence-based I AM. Intercultural Advocacy and Mentoring Program: Increasing Occupational Therapy Practitioners’ Advocacy Skills in Collaboration With Latinx Families With Young Children for OTPs who work with Latinx families and children. The program aims to promote OTPs’ self-efficacy, cultural humility, and rapport- and trust-building skills. The I AM Program will ensure professionals working with Latinx families and children practice cultural humility, thus enhancing services for the client and building strong, trusting relationships and thriving communities.  .

      • B2B Online Marketplaces : Trust building information on multi-sided platforms – An UML concept for business solutions

        Electronic Commerce is one of the most significant fields in the internet. This work explores the impact of trust on business consumer behavior in online marketplaces. With the focus moving to B2B-commerce, integrating internet and legacy systems within one company is a pretentious task. In order to achieve this, an empirical study has been constructed to accomplish the research objectives using a questionnaire survey. This questionnaire was based on a literature review, which was conducted prior to gather all necessary information about trust related topics in the offline and online area. Participants from all around the world were evaluating four different carefully chosen scenarios. The aim of this paper is to derive and identify how business consumers sense trust in an online marketplace and how this can be visualized in an UML activity model. The results reveal that business consumers trust can be enhanced by focusing on evaluated preferred characteristics. A set of key characteristics is visualized at the end of the work. This research offers some implications for business strategies by providing a guideline, which covers areas that require special attention in B2B e-Marketplaces.

      • 웹사이트의 신뢰형성요인이 고객만족과 추천의도에 미치는 영향 : 온라인 여행사를 중심으로

        본 연구의 목적은 온라인 여행사가 운영하는 웹사이트의 신뢰형성 요인을 파악하여 지각된 가치와 신뢰에 미치는 영향을 알아보고 고객만족과 추천의도에 이어지는 보다 효과인 웹사이트 운영이 될 수 있도록 하는데 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 최근 1년 이내 여행사 웹사이트를 방문하여 상품 서비스를 구매, 이용한 고객을 대상으로 고객만족과 추천의도에 미치는 요인들을 도출하고 관계성을 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 첫째, 온라인 여행사와 신뢰형성요인, 지각된 가치, 신뢰, 추천의도, 고객만족의 개념을 정리한다. 둘째, 온라인여행사의 웹사이트에서의 웹 활동 이용 고객들에 대한 고객만족에 미치는 영향요인들을 선행연구를 통해서 알아보았다. 선행연구를 통하여 확인한 요인들은 웹 품질, 정보유용성, 안전성, 편리성, 고객과의 관계인 상호작용성, 지각된 가치와 신뢰로 도출되어 이들을 활용한 연구모델을 설정하고 관계성을 보려한다. 본 연구의 주요 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 본 연구에서는 여행사 웹사이트의 신뢰형성요인에 대해 신뢰도 분석을 하였다. 분석 결과 웹 품질, 정보유용성, 안전성, 편리성, 고객과의 관계인 상호작용성이 유효한 신뢰성이 나타났다. 가설1, 가설2, 가설3, 가설4, 가설9, 가설10은 온라인 여행사 웹사이트의 웹 품질과 정보 유용성, 상호작용성은 지각된 가치와 신뢰에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 분석을 통해 온라인여행사 웹사이트를 방문하는 이용자들은 웹사이트의 품질과 정보 유용성과 상호작용성에 가치와 신뢰가 관계성을 갖고 있음을 알 수 있다. 가설5, 가설6, 가설7, 가설8은 온라인 여행사 웹사이트의 거래안전성과 편리성이 지각된 가치와 신뢰에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것을 확인하였다. 가설11, 가설13은 지각된 가치는 온라인 여행사 웹사이트 서비스에 추천의도 및 고객만족과의 관계성이 없음을 나타내고 있다. 반면, 가설12, 가설14의 신뢰가 온라인 여행사 웹사이트 서비스에 추천의도 및 고객만족과의 관계성이 유의하다고 확인되었다.
