산림치유 프로그램이 중년기, 노년기 여성의정신건강에 미치는 영향
Unlike men, middle-aged women usually experience unstable physical and mental conditions due to many hormone changes caused by menopause. Particularly, the burden of physical and mental health increases with age and for those women who do not adapt well to the rapidly changing modern world, their mental burden becomes even more severe. The longer the life expectancy of a woman, the longer the age of senescence with menopause. Since Korea is about to enter into an aging society, we should recognizes the importance of women's mental health care after middle age and need attention and support for 'Self-care' so that they can adapt to changes in mind and body from the time of their menopause. Therefore, by designing a forest healing program for the mental health care of middle aged women using the urban forests in the neighborhoods and applying the program to both middle and old age women, this study aims to verify its effectiveness to women's mental health. The Forest Healing Program was developed in May 2014 for the purpose of enhancing mental health through preliminary studies. The program consists of 3 stages as its module: HYU(休), HO(好) and AHA(何) and is named as Mom sallim, Maum salim - Self Care Program(Body and Mind Care - Self Care Program: BMC-SC, Patent No. 4010269340000). The HYU(休) stage consists of activities such as contacting the forests, stopping, resting, concentrating on breathing, leaving anxiety and fear. And HO(好) stage consists of voluntary activities such as facing anxiety and fear, immersion into forest and feeling happiness. The AHA(何) stage consists of self-awareness, satisfaction and gratitude related activities such as adaptation, serenity and inner peace. The forest healing program was reconstructed based on the recovery environment factors of the target area, and the effect was verified from September 2015 to December 2016 by applying it to women after middle age. In order to verify the effect, we performed mono-mental state examination and blood test and etc, for middle and old age women with menopausal symptoms. And for the study of people with symptoms of schizophrenia, we collected inspection data on mood swing and utilized it for the analysis. By conducting the BMC-SC program in park-type urban forests and two other forests on 83 40 to 65-year-old middle aged women, the effectiveness of forest healing programs was proved to be effective in promoting mental health of middle-aged women, as the effects of menopausal symptom relief and mental health promotion were significant regardless of the age group or menopausal symptoms, and the previous health level. After conducting the BMC-SC program in the nature park type urban forest on 34 65 to 85-year-old senile women, the mental health of the non-participating group and the group that participated only 4 times was worse than the preliminary test. It is considered that it has been influenced by temporal problems such as heat wave and MERS virus. However, on the other hand, the mental health of the senile women who participated 8 times and 12 times showed a positive change in all symptoms. Especially for somatization symptoms such as headache, muscular pain, and digestive disorders showed statistically significant effects. And also the test results of melatonin and serotonin, which are the aging index, showed a positive tendency after the test compared to the pre-test. So, since the BMC-SC program has positively influenced the mental health promotion of senile women, it is considered to be an effective forest healing program for all middle and above age women. By conducting the BMC-SC program as a camp for 2 nights and 3days on schizophrenic patients who have been taking medicine, it was found that the groups participated in the program showed a significant difference in the mental health promotion. This suggests that the BMC-SC program is effective in improving the mental health of patients even suffering from schizophrenic diseases. This study is an empirical study conducted in forests and the study has proved that the forest healing is effective in mental health promotion of women after middle age. The has also proved that the forest healing is an effective activity for patients with schizophrenic diseases. Therefore, this study is a timely study for the aging society, and it is expected that it will contribute to make healthy society and reduction of the national medical expenditure.
