This thesis is designed to study promotion of civil servant in Korea. The promotion criteria are based on individual career, job performance, training evaluation prizes, penalties, etc The Result of Analysis of Promotion record of civil servant in Korea shows that 1) promotion is closely related to individual career and level of education 2) promotion is not related to job performance, training evaluation report, and awards because job performance is hard to be evaluated result of training evaluation of each individual are almost to save prizes and awards are given to almost every individual. Therefore, job performance should be based on certain creteria; The training evaluation should be evaluated by quality of training; and the prize should be awarded by contribution.

This paper is centered on some considerations of the types of characters in the Korean peasant novels during the colonial period by Japan. I tried to consider the imagery of characters in the Korean peasant novels, basing my remarks on the characters' different ways of living through their thoughts and behaviorism, and took into consideration the development processes of the Korean peasant novels, which are in close touch with the impoverished conditions of rural communities-the sources of food supply during that period. The characters in the Korean peasant novels are largely classified into the two kinds of imagery, that is, the image of leaders and the image of peasants. The imagery of characters as leaders are classified into the two types such as the enlightenment leaders and the revolutionary leaders. The characters of types of leaders are intellectuals following the line of nationalism and Marxism, who have the strong purposes for enlightening the poor and ignorant peasants. (1) The enlightenment leaders make every effort in order to solve gradually the rural serious points a t issue through the driver for peasants' enlightenment and self-sacrificing public works. (2) On the other hand, the revolutionary leaders try to bring the peasants' grim realities to an end by uniting the group power of the peasants and instigating the activities of insubordination against the haves and landowners. The enlightenment leaders and the revolutionary leaders have the following two viewpoints in common with each other : one is their good understanding of the fact that the stiffened rural communities and peasants' grim realities are caused by Japanese' plundering of the peasants' properties, and the other is their development of the peasants' movements which are based on the anti-japanese movement providing the basis of crisis consciousness. The imagery of characters a s peasants are classified into the following four types: the adaptability type, the resistance type, the vagrancy type, and the 'back-to-earth' type. (1) The adaptability type have defensive ways of living, such as the resignation of their poverty to their fate, the life of instinctive wants, the attempting to escape somewhere because of their starvation, the contraction of the illicit intimacy with Japanese government authorities, giving a strong attachment to their farmland, and giving all meanings to their peasant lives, etc. (2) The resistance type attributes their poverty t o the social irrationality and contradictions in the social systems. So they take defiant attitudes toward the haves and landowners in order to overcome their poverty and starvation, and act on the offensive attitudes against the haves and landowners by displaying the solidity of their group power and resistance. (3) The vagrancy type a s unfortunate farmers far from home, with the transparent description of the tragedies of the lower-class peasants, has personal experiences of starvation and poverty, in spite of their efforts to improve their living conditions in the strange places. They have completely effaced themselves by taking defiant attitudes toward the haves and landowners, having given up their normal lives as peasants, or have lived a roaming life. Mean-while, they hope to make their bright future with the strong will to overcome a1l difficulties. (4) The 'back-to-earth' type, with the anti-city propensity, returns as true peasants to their original posts in the rural communities after experiencing their miserable urban lives and feeling the warm nostalgia for their hometown, although they have the predilection for rural lives and leave their villages for the urban areas in order to emerge from their bitter poverty. On the other hand, without any purposes fo' leading the peasants as intellectuals, they try to become peasants by living close to their farmland and adapting themselves to it,

Various antibiotics have been tried not only alone but also in combination to contain Pseudomonas aeruginosa(Ps.), which is notorious for its natural drug-fastness and as a nosocomial agent. Combined actions between aminoglycosides and penicillins in particular have been most popular in in vitro experiments so far reported concerning the synergism of antibiotics against Ps. Followings are the results of an experiment in which two or thiee antibiotics having different mechanism of action were combined and tested as to their synergic effect (FICI □ 1/2) on 30 isolates of Ps. Among various combinations of two drugs, TM.CB synergistically inhibited 19 strains (63.3%), GM.CB 16 (53.2), and AK.CB 15 (50), while among three-drug combinations TN.AK.CB showing synergic inhibition rate of 80%, GM.TM.CB 73.3, and GM.AK.CB 63.3. Thus a little higher rate of synergism was observed in three-drug combination group. A similiar tendancy of difference was also observed between the two groups even at the level of an extreme synergism (FICI□ 1/3), i.e., the three-drug group revealed a slightly higher rate of synergism compared with the two-drug one, though the frequency was generally too low to be significant. It was worthwhile to notice the Co did not bring about any synergic effect when combined with other kinds of antibiotic, even though its mechanism of disorganizing cell membrane structure of bacteria seemed to cooperate well with the aminoglycosides in the bactericidal activity.
