한국 성공회는 일상에서 이웃과 창조된 세상을 통해서 하느님을 만나는 것을 제자의 길로 가르쳤다. 지역사회에서 예수님의 사랑을 실천하기 위해 지난 30여 년간 ‘나눔의 집’ 활동을 통해 선교적 노력도 하였다. 그런 노력에도 한국 성공회는 제자도 측면에서 커다란 선교적 결실을 맺지 못했다. 이 연구는 한국 성공회가 하느님나라를 위한 선교의 완성을 향해 참 제자의 삶을 실현하는 길에서 출발하였다. 특별히 프란시스칸 재속회가 2019년 2월에 첫 입회식을 갖는데 이들이 제자의 길에서 자신을 기쁘게 헌신하며 좀 더 깊은 신자의 생활로 나아가는 구체적 방안을 찾기 위해서다. 필자는 성공회의 ‘의도적(intentional)’ 제자도를 강조하는 신자생활을 성인 프란시스의 모본적인 삶과 프란시스칸 수도회의 원칙을 통해서 살펴보았다. 연구 방법으로는 성공회 공동체가 강조하는 ‘의도적인 제자도’와 ‘프란시스칸 영성이 강조하는 제자도’의 특징을 각각 분석하고, 이 두 제자직의 특징 속에 발견된 공통점과 차이점을 비교하였다. 그리고 프란시스칸 원칙에서 나타난 제자직의 표지 ‘겸손, 사랑, 기쁨’을 분석하여, 이를 구체적인 제자의 길로 제시해 보았다. 의도적인 제자직은 ‘선교 5대 지표’에서 완성하기를 요구하지만, 이 지표는 목표만이 천명되어 참으로 제자의 삶을 어떻게 살아야 할 지 모호한 점이 있다. 이를 보완하는 방법으로 프란시스칸 원칙에서 제시하는 ‘생활의 세 가지 방법’을 제자직에 접목하여, 참된 제자의 길에 더 가까이 다가설 수 있는 방안을 모색하였다. 제자도는 우리의 신앙을 전 생애를 걸쳐 겸손하게 표현하고 실천하는 노력이고, 그 길 위에서 사랑의 섬김과 기쁨으로 하느님을 영화롭게 하는 것이 프란시스칸 원칙에서 말하는 제자도이다. 핵심단어 ; 제자도, 성공회, 성 프란시스, 성공회 프란시스 수도회 원칙, 제 3회, 세 가지 표지 The Korean Anglican Church teaches in its statements that the way of discipleship is to meet God through one’s neighbors and in the created world in everyday life. Over the last thirty years, in order to share the love of Christ, the Church has made a missionary effort at the local community level in the establishment of ‘Houses of Sharing’. Despite these social welfare activities, the Korean Anglican Church has not been very successful at disciple-making. The purpose of this study is to find out how the first Korean members of the Third Order of St. Francis gladly devote themselves to the path of discipleship and move toward a deeper Christian life. I have explored the intentional discipleship emphasized by the Anglican Church through St. Francis’s lifestyle and the Principles of the Franciscan Order. I analyze the characteristics of the intentional discipleship of the Anglican Communion and Franciscan discipleship, and then compare the similarities and differences found between these two. I have analyzed the Three Notes of Humility, Love and Joy in the Franciscan Principles and presented them as practical ways of discipleship. As a result, I have researched the Three Ways of Life in the Franciscan Principles, and have explored ways of putting them into practice. The Five Marks of Mission call for the building of intentional discipleship, but it is unclear as to how to live the life of a disciple, because these Marks are just mission slogans in the Anglican Communion. Discipleship is the effort we humbly express and practice in our faith throughout our lives, serving God with joy, which is the nature of discipleship according to the Franciscan Principles.
