다공성 개념을 적용한 도심 공공공간 활성화에 관한 연구

근대화를 거치며 양적 생산에만 몰두한 도시는 인간을 고려하지 않은 채 각 프로그램에 끼워 맞춰진 획일화된 형태로 재단되어 왔다. 이러한 도시공간은 인간으로 하여금 폐쇄적인 공간과 자동차 중심 생활권의 연속을 만들었으며, 이에 인간은 점차 피로를 느끼며 쾌적한 환경과 삶의 질을 향상시키기 위한 새로운 가치를 원한다. 이처럼 도시 내의 쾌적함과 삶의 질 개선을 위한 사회적 관심이 증가하면서 도시 환경의 질을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안으로 공공공간의 필요성이 인식되고 있다. 하지만 현재 대부분의 공공공간들이 주변 환경을 고려하지 않은 보여주기식 형성으로 인해 주변과의 연계가 이루어지지 않고 있으며, 버려진 공간, 쓸모없는 공간으로 인식되고 있다. 그러므로 새로운 접근을 통해 공공공간 활성화 방안을 연구할 필요가 있다. 따라서 도시와 공간의 상호적 공공성을 발현할 수 있는 다공성개념에 주목하고 다공성 개념을 바탕으로 공간적 특성을 도출한 후 공공공간에 대입해 관계를 파악하고 중요 구성요소를 도출하여 활성화 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 연구의 과정은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 선행연구와 참고문헌을 통해 공공공간과 다공성의 이론적 고찰을 한다. 둘째, 이론고찰을 바탕으로 공공공간과 다공성의 관계성을 파악하고 활성화 방안으로써의 키워드를 도출한다. 셋째, 도출된 키워드를 토대로 국내외 공공공간의 사례를 선정하여 분석한다. 넷째, 이론 및 사례분석을 통해 도출된 활성화 방안을 바탕으로 공공공간 활성화를 위한 디자인계획을 한다. 본 연구는 국내외 도심 속 공공공간 활성화를 위해 다공성 공간특성을 바탕으로 개선방향을 모색하고자 하며, 다공성을 적용한 공공공간이 도시민과 공간이 소통하며 지속가능한 공간으로써의 역할을 기대해본다. After modernization, cities have only concentrated on quantitative production and been uniform to be appropriate for each program without consideration of human beings. These urban spaces have made human beings create closed spaces and a continuity of vehicle-centered life zone. Tired of this by gradation, human beings want new values to live in pleasant environments and improve the quality of life. With the increase in social interest in improvement of amenity and life quality in cities, the necessity of public spaces is being recognized as a way of improving the quality of urban environment. However, most of current public spaces are not linked to the surroundings, since they have just been formed for show-off without consideration of surrounding environments and they are recognized as abandoned and useless spaces. Therefore, there is a need to study on revitalization of public spaces, based on a new approach. In order to deal with this issue, this study aims to suggest revitalization methods by extracting spatial characteristics and major spatial components, based on the concept of porosity, which can express mutual publicity of cities and spaces, and analyzing the relationship between porosity and public spaces. This study was conducted as follows. First, a theoretical consideration of public spaces and porosity was conducted, based on preceding studies and references. Second, on the basis of the theoretical consideration, the relationship between public spaces and porosity was analyzed and key words were extracted for revitalization. Third, domestic and foreign cases of public spaces were chosen and analyzed, based on the key words extracted. Fourth, based on the revitalization methods obtained from theoretical and case analyses, a design plan was applied for revitalization of public spaces. This study is focused on seeking an improvement for revitalization of public spaces in domestic and foreign cities, based on porous space characteristics and it is anticipated that public spaces applying the concept of porosity will serve as sustainable spaces to communicate with urban residents.
