This paper deals with Moses` yearning for the Israelite`s steadfast love toward the covenant Lord, Yahweh. At the threshold of his death, Moses hears this message: “Now write down for yourselves this song and teach to the Israelites and have them sing it, so that it may be a witness for me against them”(Dt. 31:19). Thus, the song of Moses(Dt. 32:1-43) is, in a sense, the song of God, Canticum Dei. The so-called Moses` swan song reflects God`s love for his covenant partner, Israel. The present writer endeavors to answer the following entangled issues: (1) the literary characteristics of Dt. 32 in the book of Deuteronomy, (2) the content of Moses` teaching in Dt. 32; (3) the transmission of the song in the history of Israel, and (4) the implications of these discussions for the Korean churches. As to the features of Dt. 32, the writer emphasizes that the song must be interpreted in line with preceding chapters, chapters 29-31. Following Olson, he emphasizes that the new covenant of Moab is presented in three parallel versions within chapters 29-32. Each version deals with worship(chapters 29- 30), word(chapter 31), and song(chapter 32) respectively. Then, Deuteronomy is understood as follows: I. Moses` first farewell instruction: historical recollections and exhortations (1:1-4:43), II. Moses` second farewell instruction: discourses on the Sinai covenant stipulations (4:44-28:68), III. Moses` third farewell instruction: covenant renewal and preview of the future (29:1-32:52), IV. Moses` fourth farewell instruction: Moses` blessing and death (33:1- 34:12). By doing so, the writer argues that Deuteronomy is to be understood as a sermonic catechesis. Before dealing with the content Moses` swan song, the genre of the song is in view. While G. Ernest Wright understands it as the lawsuit of God, the writer simply views it as song seen in the text itself(Dt. 31:19, 21, 22, 30). Thus the writer focuses on the Mosaic authorship of Deuteronomy as a whole and the song in particular. What, then, does Moses teach in this song? Among others, hope beyond judgment is the answer. Through the song, the beautiful memory aid, the Israelites do not give up their trust in God, in the valley of sorrow. Dt. 32:43 is the climax of the song in that even the gentiles are invited to God`s kingdom. Also, the covenant relationship between the Rock(Yahweh) and Israel is the leading theme. This covenant relationship is well attested in Isaiah 56:3-8. Even the Gentiles and the eunuchs are invited to His Kingdom, which is anticipated in Dt. 32:43.TheSabbath theme in verse 4 is important, because it is the sign of Sinai covenant. As such, the song is transmitted well in various areas such as wisdom literature, prophetical books, and the NT writings. The writer concludes the paper by emphasizing that the Song of Moses is the sum of Deuteronomy, whose essence is covenant. Since Reformed theology is covenant theology, covenant oriented education is to be executed in the Reformed Churches,
