The theme of the 30th Korean Christian Academic Consultation is "World Theology and Korean Theology" : Reflection and Perspective. Accordingly, this paper is written for systematic theologians to discuss the theme and participate in the Consultation. Theology is a human language dealing with God`s Revelation and human situations. In theology, relationship between Gospel and Culture is a delicate issue. Christian message always expresses truth in a dialectical and a hermeutical method. Since Christian mission to Korea over one hundred years, Gospel meets Korean culture and society. But early Korean church followed theological teachings of missionaries without subjective awareness of Korean culture and context. From the 1960`s Korean church and theologians try to attempt the Korean theology in the name of in-culturation. This theological movement is called "the Korean indigination theology." The main idea is bridge theology and Korean religio-cultural thinking. In the 1970`s Korean society was oppressed and exploited by the dictatorial regimes. Especially, the poor people, Minjung, suffered to keep their dignity and human rights. In this context, a sociopolitical theology have emerged by theologians who identified with struggles of Minjung. This theological movement is called a "Minjung theology." In the later 1980`s, religious pluralism became hot issues among Korean churches. Therefore, Korean theologians try to attempt to dialogue Christianity and Shamanism/Buddhism/Tonghak and etc. This theological movement is called "religio-cultural theology." In Korean theological circle, those three theological tendencies and trend are elemental and substantial for a new Korean theological construction. Therefore, this paper deals with those three theological characters in terms of its method and hermeutics. Finally, this paper suggests a valuable direction to build up Korean theological method and task for investigation for the formulation of Korean theology. In this process, ecumenical debate and reunification of Korean peninsula and methodological reflection are required to formulate a creative Korean theology.
