과학영재청소년의 성격과 직업흥미의 진로발달성숙에 대한 관계 = The Relations of Personality and Vocational Interests to Career Development of the Scientifically Gifted Students

국문 초록 (Abstract)

G 과학영재교육원에 다니는 206명의 초등6과 중1,2 학생들에게 성격5요인에 기반을둔 NEO 성격 검사와 Holland의 RIASEC 모델에 기초한 직업흥미 검사 및 진로인식성숙과 진로태도성숙을 측정하는 Holland 진로발달 검사 등 3개의 표준화검사를 실시하였다. 이에 대한 반응을 분석하여 성격과 직업흥미의 수렴도를 파악하고 성격 요인들과 직업흥미 요인들의 진로발달성숙에 대한 관련성을 탐구하였다. 상관분석의 결과는 성격요인들과 직업흥미 요인들간에 전반적으로 약한 관련성을 보여주었는데, 이는 성격과 직업흥미가 서로 별개의 것으로서 인간 행동을 독립적으로 예측한다는 점을 시사하는 것으로 해석되었다. 진로발달성숙에 대한 성격 요인들과 직업흥미 요인들의 회귀분석 결과는 이 두 심리적 구인들이 유의한 예측자임을 보여주었다. 성격 요인들 중 친화성과 개방성이 진로인식성숙과 진로태도성숙 모두에 대해 유의한 설명력을 가졌는데, 외향성은 부적으로 유의한 예측자였다. 직업흥미 요인들 중에는 기업형과 예술형이 진로인식성숙에 대해, 그리고 기업형과 관습형이 진로태도성숙에 대해 정적인 방향으로 유의한 설명력을 보였다. 그러나 사회형 흥미는 진로인식성숙과 진로태도성숙 모두에
대해 부적인 방향의 유의한 예측자였다. 외향성 성격 요인과 사회형 흥미 요인이 가지는 부적인 영향은 이러한 특성을 강하게 가지는 청년초기의 학생들이 친구들이나 외부세계와 교류하는 일에 대해 개인적 관심을 보이는 데 열중하면서 스스로에 대해 성찰하고 장래와 직업적 가능성들을 적극적 체계적으로 탐색하는 일에 덜 집중하는 경향을가질 수 있기 때문인 것으로 해석되었다. 이러한 결과에 기반하여 특히 낮은 친화성과개방성의 성격 특성을 보이거나, 낮은 수준의 기업형과 예술형 및 관습형 직업흥미를보이거나, 또는 높은 수준의 외향성 성격과 사회형 흥미를 보이는 경우, 과학영재학생들의 진로 지도를 위하여 더 많은 주의와 노력이 기울여져야 힐 것으로 제안되었다

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

206 6th to 8th grade scientifically gifted students were tested by a NEO personality
inventory based Big Five model, a vocational interests test based on Holland's
RIASEC model and a career development inventory. Then the convergence of personality and vocational interests and then the relations of personality and vocational interests to career development were investigated.
Correlation analyses showed little or low correlations among most of personality and vocational interest variables, which means personality and vocational interests predict human behaviors independently. Analyses of regressions on career development of personality and vocational interest variables showed that most of these are significant
predictors. Agreeableness and openness of Big Five model are significant predictors for both career awareness and career attitude, but extraversion is a negative one.
Enterprising and artistic interests are significant predictors for career awareness, as are enterprising and conventional interests for career attitude. But social interest turns out to be a negative predictor for both career awareness maturity and career attitude maturity.
The negative effects of extraversion and social interest may be attributed to the fact that early adolescent students with high degree of these traits are likely to be distracted by their motivations toward getting together with others so that they are less concerned about reflecting on themselves and less concentrated on searching for their
future. With these results, strongly suggested was the need to put more efforts to the students with low agreeableness and openness and low enterprising, artistic and conventional interests, as well as to those with high extraversion and vocationally social interest, especially for the job guidance of the scientifically gifted students
